Luniz is a platinum-selling rap duo from Oakland, California formed by rappers Yukmouth and Numskull. They released an internationally successful hit in 1995 entitled "I Got 5 on It", two versions of which appear on their album Operation Stackola. A third version of the song, featuring Oakland rappers Dru Down, Shock G, Richie Rich, E-40, and Spice 1 and often found on the Internet as the Bay Area Ballas Remix, has also garnered radio play. Luniz were going to be featured on Tupac Shakur's One Nation project. Due to Shakur's death the album was never released.
During Master P's rise to national fame, Luniz attempted to spark an argument over the use of the concept 'the Ice Cream Man'. Due to their waning popularity which was overshadowed by P's skyrocketing exposure, the argument was not taken up by the media and they eventually fell into obscurity.
Luniz also had a major row with Too Short, deriding him on their song "Playa Hata" and saying in the song "that's why the town got rid of Short." This led to an altercation at KMEL Summer Jam in 1996, between Too Short and some posse members of Luniz. Too Short was banned from KMEL radio for a brief period of time as a result of the fight at Summer Jam. In the song "Oakland Raiders", however Luniz gave credit to Too Short as being "The first Oakland Raider on the set."

They could it in temple ruins in the Holy Land that’s God created herb shouldn’t be so much mess around it or blamed on medical patients or just freedom loving people.

In High School, my band director would never include up-to-date RnB or Hip Hop to our Pep Band songs. So, I took it upon myself to learn how to play the basic notes of "I Got 5 On It" on the Saxophone and then I taught the French Horns and one other instrument (forgot what the third was) and got the drums to learn the drum beat. We planned it out and played it during a basketball game and the crowd loved it. My band director was looking all baffled and confused when we played it...all because of me 😅😌 #KalamazooCentralMemories

Of course! All time classic!!
I'm 57 and old enough to remember Club Neuveaus 'Why You Treat Me So Bad' (1987) which is where the background music to this song came from. Different decades but, both good tunes...It was also the beginning of Ashanti's 'Only You'
It's amazing that this kind of music/hiphop hits different to every type of people, race, ethnicity, etc. We have our own story when this song takes us back. I am from Philippines and whenever I hear 90's hiphop, it's like time portal, it takes us back to 90s that life is fun and simple when we're young.

@ein weiterer kanal What exactly do you mean by "fake"? These guys (Luniz) originate from Oakland, CA. Have you ever been there? I bet not with your screen name and the fact that you're arguing from behind a keyboard. Chances are that growing up in Oakland in the 80's and 90's you probably have seen some shit. And if you listen to the lyrics they're just talking about weed. WTF are you really on about?
