I love how the premise is cost effectiveness when in reality in the last period of the game. No matter what you'll have more money than you can possibly spend so there is no reason to not stack damage with the more expensive units.

How did he get to 20k gold so quickly? That's what I missed. Is it a Tours and Tournaments thing? I'm playing vanilla on Xbox (when it's not crashing every other month) and I can't get anywhere near that figure by that timeframe.
@erebus1892
Жыл бұрын
@@Bolano75 I know that with T&T came the taxation tour, which gives a lot of gold, especially when you have a large realm. But otherwise, Zieley afaik min maxes his economy buildings (incl. Duchy buildings), uses characters with high stewardship to have more holdings (counties and baronies), and restricts himself to having holdings within his two duchies to gain the maximum benefits. There is probably more, although I can't think off the top of my head. A number of elements of this are still possible with vanilla however.
@linleesin
7 ай бұрын
The problem with his calculation is that he forgot to multiply the base damage by the number of units at each MaA level. For example, the Heavy Cavalry deals 100 damage, but only 50 units per level, for a total of 5000 damage to that MaA. While Heavy Infantry has 32 Damage, but has a total of 100 units, totaling 3200 Damage. This way, his calculation would only be correct if he calculated the Total Damage and Toughness, and not just the Unit value. Why Toughness? Because there are troops that serve as punching bags for other troops to use as damage. Knights have no Toughness, and only occupy 1 unit slot, if you have more units for your knights to take less damage, it is much better, protecting them from being wounded or even killed. Therefore, there are MaA that are more focused on dealing damage, some are more hybrid and others are more focused on taking damage. Remembering that here we are removing 100% of the land bonus, and also the Climatic Period of war, as this would certainly increase even more how much better or worse each MaA is.

A strategy I loved to use to break longbows pre 1.9 was merging Welsh with Nubian to get Land of the Bow, grabbing forest folk and heading up to Novgorod. Land of the Bow gives hunting grounds archer damage and Forest Folk does the same but with Forestry buildings. This probably still works post 1.9, haven't tested it though. Edit: Yeah, the triple dip strategy works even better with this. Forest folk and hunting grounds give 5% per level, stack that with militia camps and the archer duchy building for total stackwiping power. I'm sitting at a whopping +630% stationed holding buff and 354 damage longbows in my capital county.

I dunno how hard or easy the game is really. I don't have the depth of experience you guys have I'm afraid, so I don't know how certain things work, or how to use some things to their fullest. I've watched people take on massive armies many times their size with T&T (and even before) but I still am not able to bait enemies to fight where I want and things like that. I can still win wars or take over massive swathes of land. I usually can avoid succession crises and keep everything together, but I can't pull off crazy development rushes or make oodles of gold or make stack wiping monster armies. I guess I just have to keep learning.

I've been messing around with the tournaments a bit and I think the reason you won all those recitals with a pretty low chance is that the chance is actually relative to all the other contestants in the tournament. So if there are like 5 people in the recital than that 25% you have is actually added with the chances from the other 4 contestants - so you might have 25%, and the next guy 20%, and ect ect adding up to 100%. In that case 25% may seem like a low chance but its actually the highest out of the contestants, so you end up winning more often then not. I've won recitals now where I only had, like, an 11% chance - just because there were so many other contestants. Seems to be the same for archery contests and really any contest where you have multiple characters competing at once rather than one-on-one competitions

The county of Glouchester is by far the best county to hold for an English playthrough because they have forest terrain which helps buff Archers, it’s coastal so you can build 2 different mills building and a tradeport
One thing to remember when starting a game as Alfred. You start with a claim on London, so as soon as your brother hands it off you can go to war for it from your fellow vassal.

zieley, the trebuchets are one of the best unlocks now cause the building it unlocks along with the longbowmen just leads to absolute chaos
Why are the Anglo-Saxons lacking the Longbow tradition?
I’ve done this with heavy cav. Reached almost 400 damage on two units, and making super op siege units and when I reached bombards you can do a whopping 71 siege tick! I started playing as count Werner Habsburg and ended up creating the Roman Empire in 1300 on Ironman mode which I have never done before. You can conquer the world because of this new dlc.
I have found that Just is really no big deal for Intrigue characters. Since you're so great at rooting out secrets, you can just rat out all of your neighbors' sins for instant huge stress relief. Keep a few secrets in your pocket and then drop them before/after a big scheme.

One of the first things I tried when this DLC dropped was give a retry to the good old Madurai only tall game, by the time I stopped playing I remember having 1.6k damage elephants stationed in the one jungle tile Madurai gets. Men at arms can get absurdly strong with these new buildings.
The really weird thing about CK3 is making out as if elephants were a great military unit. They probably were in India, sure. War elephants have been useful, but historically easily countered once their opponents have met them more than once. Also, they rampage and wreck your own lines half the time.
@caesarg.9270
Жыл бұрын
In CK3 only Indian cultures normally have access to War Elephants and afaik the buildings that buff them are mostly only buildable in India so I don't think there's anything weird with that. As for their historical effectiveness, it's really not fair to say they're "easily countered" if you're primarily basing it on western/middle eastern history. There is a significant difference between Indian kingdoms' use of war elephants vs. powers like Carthage and Persia. Not only did the Indians have way more elephants, the fact that elephants are more integral to their military doctrine means they'll have more infrastructure and support units to support the war elephants. Not to mention the different terrains would hugely impact what units would be more effective.

One could even say that Alfred is great.
I'm pretty sure the "Progress to victory" bar is just added to your roll at the end of the event stage, because I usually have ~40-50% progress to victory in either the melee or recitals yet end up winning more often than not. That said, I have had times where I was at 90% progress to victory in duels or wrestling and still been eliminated. So if I rolled badly on the final check, and the opponent rolled well, I think it compares them after that and spits out victory/defeat.
Finally! I play your videos on my 2nd screen during ck3 games :)

A much lower-stress way to regain your counties is flip to Norse - Ango-Saxons don't start with the tech allowing title revocation; however, the Norse do. Plus, if you want to form English with Alfred you'll need to flip to Norse then Norman --> English anyway. And the counties your brother grants away give you a claim by default. tl;dr - Flip to Norse and just revoke the counties.

The most dangerous troop types to fight against are usually heavy footmen, heavy cavalry and mounted archers, all of which get countered by Crossbowmen, which is why they probably are the unit with the most bang for your bucks.
You should try only using one men-at-arms regiment for the whole game, but you stack bonuses as much as possible.
Knights are the real deal this patch. I did the ultimate culture with Norse, Anglo-Saxon and French plus Only the Strong. You can hold 3 duchy titles to have 3 Military Academies and maxed out Blacksmiths around all baronies, on top of that, go direct to Graceful Aging in the Dynasty Legacy, getting 2º Legacy from Glory and 3º Legacy from Warfare is pretty good as well. Try to get the Accolades: Mentor, Blademaster and House Paragon (4º Legacy from Kin) and, last but not least, research Knighthood, of course. Now you have the most powerful House of Warriors. All my wars were done with full Huscarls as well, so I don't know if the Knights by itself were insane OP.
I wish that Paradox remodels the baronies, I would love to see province slowly fill with buildings, towers and crop fields

Does other way around works still? i mean the strat of having over 100% screen with that getting negative loses (almost like you generated units) after a combat, guy i saw was using Caballeros (seens the easier to pull this off) there is Shomer with are cheaper but have less building and cuture sinegy maybe try to get Konnis with the Caballeros, i would say Archer Horseman but if not mistaken they are considerated skirmishers

My dude, I don't know what to tell you, but you could've gone even further beyond and I don't just mean by going to Late Medieval, you see, there's yet another building you unlock with technology in High Medieval.....the Shooting Ranges, which gives siege progress to anyone stationed there, increases the efectiveness of Siege weapons by a lot and the damage and toughness of archers and skirmishes by quite a lot. Then again, if you want to get the absolute highest numbers possible, you start Norse, hybridize the Welsh and hop on to India varangian style, there's a new Wind Furnace building that's absolutely goddamn crazy for everything, it's ridiculous
