    I probably would wire up a 1200-1500 watt pure sine wave inverter and charge it that via 120v AC as a non-proprietary solution. Granted that I would not have the reverse charge option

  • @Connor-s1k

    @Connor-s1k

    Ай бұрын

    That adds a lot of inefficiency in the loop, inverters waste a lot of power and tend to be unreliable as they get closer to their limits on power. You can get a DC-DC charger for about the same price as an inverter that would do the job, it would go into the solar input I believe, that is what my dad does on a similar brand's solar battery

  • @LivingCommonSense

    @LivingCommonSense

    Ай бұрын

    @@Connor-s1k It probably would be less efficient but charging with a 7.3L isn't a great use of gas anyway as compared to a 1800 watt inverter generator. I'm not putting down the battery though. Solar charging and being silent are about the biggest benefits of one of these. I'd not want to be the only one with power a week after everyone else has been without. Noisy generator could make you "friends" you never new you had.

    @ Wranglerstar Car mechanic here, on a modern car like yours there is often a measuring device on the ground/minus cable or battery connector. In your case it's the ring where the cables go through near the battery. Connect accessories or even jumpstart before the battery sensor or take ground directly from the bodywork or engine block or specifically ground points in the engine bay. Otherwise your battery will die earlier than normal. Thanks for your content an keep your good work up!

    Must be nice to get gifted a $1000 EcoFlow setup. The rest of us have to pay for it. An 800w backup power won't power enough stuff in your house when a hurricane takes out all your power. A typical fridge consumes anywhere from 300-800 watts. BTW, the cell phone towers died with the utilities for the same reason.

    My question to you is. If you’re using that generator for a potential life saving device what happens in the “end times” if something breaks on it? Seems like a gas generator would be a lot easier to fix and get parts for and even diagnose. How does it stand up to water ? I’ve seen normal generators sit outside and run in the middle of blizzards and rain storms and still do their intended use. Can eco flow do that?

    Any American that doesn't have provisions to live a week without power has let down themselves and everyone around them. I keep enough gas and propane in stock to last at least 3-6 weeks in the winter, 5 to 10 in the summer. And if I hit the point when I start running out, Ill be trading food for whatever fuel my neighbors have to keep everything running until it has to be used because I keep about a years worth of meat in stock. Anyone that owns a camper; think about it. Keep your propane tanks full. Your camper fridge/freezer will run for 4 weeks or more on two little 20# propane tanks. Just keep that option on standby. I am tempted to buy a very large (1000 gallon or more) propane tank that would just sit on my property full for "if I ever need it".

    I'm totally off grid 2.5 kw solar and 2 wind generator's 1.5 kw each with 48 volt system. I can run my welder and air compressor off it with no problem, I mainly run only one wind generator at a time. But a friend has small creek that has a continuous stream we made water generator and it charges better than his solar does.

    Chiming in from Houston, having grown up in south-western Washington- 3rd largest city and in 2024 power goes out if a mosquito farts. It's absolutely absurd how power, a public utility, is monopolized and capitalized down here. Being the best pro-ho I can be, I have been helping friends and neighbors source components and install generator outlets. I wish these systems could just come down some in price, but I will have an ecoflo setup soon enough hopefully. Your government or city will never be there for you, don't be a victim.

    I used to watch ALL of Cody's videos years ago. Haven't been paying as much attention now for probably 4-5 years. And I must say he seems like he has definitely adapted to the times. Myself I am decades younger that Cody but I am even more technology illiterate than I was a decade ago. I don't even have a cell phone any more. Who knows what the best way is. I suppose being knowledgeable and capable in both the new world and the old world ways would be ideal. I myself just simply do not have enough to focus my time and mind into both. So I am being left behind it appears. But putting all my eggs in one basket may prove to be best in the end... Who knows. Regardless I am not worried much any more like I used to. I know we are very likely screwed and I'm fine with it.

    I mean….i thought the only guarantee that this place gives us, is that we’re not staying. Just occupying for a while. So minimize suffering, is the name of the game. Trying to hold on to the grid and current way of life, seems like the best way to maximize suffering, but maybe it’s a perspective thing. Seems to be a lot of different versions of shtf, that people are gearing up for

    I am confused as to why we can't use a pure sine wave inverter that outputs say 1500W AC and then plug the ecoflow to that using a standard plug

    Cody, what do you recommend as a core Ecoflow unit and peripherals to address multi day power outage? Are solar panels and battery(ies) included? Needs are refrigerator/freezer, lights, fan, charging (though not necessarily at same time). Thanks!

    I have two of the pro’s, learned about them from you Cody. The reason I’ll always have a generator was my wife and I lived in Puerto Rico during hurricane Maria. We didn’t have any form of power for 36 days before we got back to the states. After that I’ve had a phobia about never loosing at least the simple power needs of my family.
