    That kinda bothered me because he already said in the interview that he wanted to know if any of his untainted sperm was left so he could do some testing on it. Then there was that text, and all I can think of now is that this dude's reason for wanting to meet up with her was just because of that damned sperm, not because of her.

    I was raised by my stepfather who met my mother when my bro and I were babies. I would have assumed he was my biological father as I had no memory of my real father (too young) but my mom was always super open with family stuff. She never hid any deep dark family secrets and I always knew. However, I still consider my stepfather my dad, he raised me and genetics had little to do with that.

    Nobody says that the man who raised you isn't your dad just because you don't have his genes; it's mainly about giving you the information you need to allow you to make your own decisions, and respecting those decisions once made. It seems YOUR parents have actually done that: you're lucky, and I'm genuinely happy for you, but that's not this woman's situation.

    The whole thing was selfish... she violated this guy's right to privacy by reaching out to his family to get in touch with him in the first place... I'm adopted and I have DNA matches on Ancestry and I wouldn't dream of reaching out to them, because I don't feel like it's my right to violate their privacy if the family doesn't know of my existence. @@NayaKusakabe I think iwould be egotistic for him to be offended that his daughter would want to learn about her biological family. It's her decision to make, not his. He is a grown up and can deal with the small feeling of jealousy or sadness, and then should also be happy and understanding that his daughter would want to know about her genetics. If she weren't surprised with it so suddenly, it probably would have played out differently. I can say from finding my own biological family (my dad was adopted) that it DEFINITELY didn't mean that I loved my grandparents less, I was just curious! I wanted to know if I had cousins, if I looked like other people,, etc. And I have no doubt that my grandma would be thrilled that my dad now has brothers and sisters to call family since they are gone (and he grew up an only child). I am living in Russia and have heard of him, his star clients and that stem cells thing, he is really famous. And now that man trying to buy his son attention with the USA Open tickets. Uggggh. Yeah, I'm gonna stop watching this story from here. I was initially interested on the concept but unfortunately, I'm no longer enjoying watching this girl. No offense to her but her personality just makes me uncomfortable. I get that she's that focused on finding her dad and all that but the way she treats her family, especially her brother and mom doesn't sit well with me. It seemed selfish of her to tell her brother those details about their dad when he clearly didn't want it. It's fine if she's excited about her dad but did she consider how her brother feels? Yes, he has "the right to know" but he also had the right to choose whether or not to find out. And the way she was passive aggressive with her mom wasn't nice to watch either. Sorry for the long rant. I'm happy that this girl found what she was looking for but I think I've had enough of the story. And viewers, don't let me stop you from following this story to the end. Most parents withhold it because a parent is a parent. I was in the foster system and then adopted. My parents are my parents. My mom is my mom. My dad is my dad. They're not related to me but I see them the same as any genetic child would. The point is, it doesn't really matter. I think out of respect for a child, they should know, but it's literally not the biggest deal if they don't. I've met my birth family, they're great and all, but I didn't gain anything I didn't already have by meeting them. My family grew, but I was already grown and given everything I needed as a child. I can go so much deeper into this but then you'd be reading a book and not a paragraph.

    Just because your parents don't talk about your genetics doesn't mean they're hiding something. I was adpoted at birth and my parents told me but they also kept a lot of things from me until I was an adult. There are several cases of adopted children having a mental crisis when they are told about their adoption. Waiting until they're older is almost always for the best depending on what the child's situation was.

But when my dad met his brother it really showed the nature vs nurture. They had so many similar interests and they both even had weird Facebook meme pages that at times had the same reposts. They like the same sports, had some common hobby’s, but lived hundreds of miles apart and never knew each other.

    This is so cool she found him! I did an Ancestry DNA test a few years ago & never got anywhere. My dad was adopted, and passed away in an accident when I was a baby. My (adoptive) grandparents were the most amazing people I could have ever had in my life - but there’s definitely and obvious void where my dad should be. I did the test to try to see if I looked like any of his potential biological relatives, not to start a relationship with anyone. Plus medical reasons as well - since my dad didn’t get to grow old and experience what that entails. I guess it’s just not meant to be for everyone - but this story is truly neat & so amazing for them that they found each other and it went well.

    Why is this a 4 part series? Seems we have the whole story and if the next two parts are going to be the family becoming bffs with a random guy who came inside a cup decades ago, I will feel very bad for the REAL dad (the one who raised them) if this guy is just going to be in their lives from now on. I’ll probably finish the series because I do want to know if this will go well but I suspect this relationship is going to get cringey for sure. She’s right, everyone deserves to know where they came from but in my opinion, you should do that on your own and leave your real family out of it unless it becomes necessary. Make boundaries before you start something like this. I mean email them and meet once and get to know their story and then leave it at that. Maybe keep in touch through emails now and then. Sperm donations have created many happy families, but cumming inside a cup for money in no way equates to any kind of work or sacrifice deserving of a close, familiar relationship. To each their own, it’s just my opinion, but its super weird to me that they are even in this video together or that they decided to be a part of this at all. And now he’s about to meet her mom... yikes. Unless we find out her real dad wasn’t good to her or her brother, I hope they just decide to be acquaintances.

    There is no work or sacrifice to parenting if you put your own feelings above your child's RIGHT to A: be in control of the information regarding their physical body, and B: their RIGHT as a separate human being to make their own decisions regarding their body and their actions in life. When you chose to raise a child, it's no longer about you and your feelings. She's an adult who's allowed to live her life however she pleases, and her parents need to recognize that. As long as she's happy, they've successfully done their job as parents and need to respect her autonomy as an individual human being, regardless of their personal feelings. She's not their property.

  • @melo13melo

    I don't even think they should have met tbh. Stalking your donor's family is super messed up to me. And the whole idea of "well with technology now they should expect to be found." BS. And the donor organization could just give out people's names but they actually care about these people's privacy and many of them don't care to be contacted. She could have shown a little restraint is she thought about his feelings on the matter in the slightest.

  • @Alexandra_K_

    @Alexandra_K_

    5 жыл бұрын

    TiggerIsMyCat yes she is an adult and it seems like her parents raised her well which is why I exaggerated that this was just MY OPINION. And you must not not have kids if you don’t think raising a child involves hard work or sacrifice. You love your child more than you love yourself or anything in the entire world, and their happiness becomes your happiness. That does not mean parenting is easy and you will be happy all the time. So don’t put that notion out there. There are millions of good parents out there struggling and not feeling good enough. They need to know things won’t always be or feel okay and that okay.

Knowing that the father figure that I had in my life at the time was a toxic human being I thought to myself " Well, this couldn't be any worse then what it is" So i gave it a shot. I totally get the whole " awkwardness" of meeting your dad for the first time. Its a weird experience and you don't know what to say. I was lucky to have my mom with me at the time when first meeting it but boy was I anxious af. We are good now, we have a healthy relationship. I don't call him "dad", kinda hard to do that when someone was absent for almost 2 decades of your life. But it is what it is.

Personally, I don’t feel empty because my father who raised me will never in my mind not be my father I know who I am and my parents don’t determine who I am I do. So when she said she felt like she didn’t know who she was really doesn’t click with me because knowing your parents don’t determine who u are.
