I found one of Naughty Dog's oldest mistakes. (Jak and Daxter review)

Ойын-сауық

We are reviewing Jak and Daxter the precursor legacy one of my childhood favorite games! A few mistakes were unearthed upon revisiting this title. We will also compare this game to Naughty Dog's other Platformer Crash Bandicoot. The question is, is this still good, or is Nostalgia carrying this title. Find out in this Nostalgic game review.

I hear they abuse the "spin kick weapon combo" like it was a dominant strategy, when there's more melee-weapon combos that should be properly used, such as the punch-blaster combo that fires many shots quickly, and punch-Scatter Gun combo that can kill a two hit enemy along with stunning and weakening nearby enemies.

I think the Jak series is a good candidate for a remake. I’d like to see a game developer fix some of the plot holes/unanswered questions all into one game with added content/challenges/mechanics/lore. I think my biggest complaint about Jak 1 is that the characters don’t have much lore. Granted it is more so an action/adventure game, so the story does not matter so much but what makes KOTOR so good is the lore. Jak 2 and 3 are much better IMO, at least in terms of story, gameplay, replay-ability and character development. I would have to say, my biggest complaint of Jak 2 and 3 is that the maps seem big for the sake of being big, and some of the new mechanics are under utilized.

It’s funny hearing a male say there’s not enough women in the game. As a female that adores this game I just accepted it and as a child I would have filled in the gaps with imagination. Kiera is also such a cool character, I’d say she’s inspirational. I think your a bit out of line asking where you put a uterus on a fictional toonised character. IMO Jak & Daxter is much better than what you make out in you’re review. Maybe you were late to the game. I grew up with it as it was passed down to me from my cousins but it’s not just nostalgia talking, it’s still very enjoyable to replay - plus now I know where all the secrets are the music is awesome!

Maybe a little cringe/creepy too talking about genital placement - like wtf. This game is one of the first for seamless loading between new levels. Am I not allowed to be emotionally invested to defend the title? This game deserves better IMO.

Favorite old game? That isn't mentioned as much? Arc the Lad 1-2-3 and Twilight of the Spirits. I daresay this franchise can compete with the original FF7 Compilation. Sadly, the first 3 games were introduced to the West at the end of PS1's lifespan. The 4th game is available on PS4 and PS5. You don't need to play the first 3 games, the 4th works well on its own - BUT the payoff is immense at the end, especially considering the lore and the final boss (LONG story). It gets personal, across generations even.

I really do hope you play the sequels, Jak 2 (or Jak 2: Renegade, depends on where you're from) as well as Jak 3. Each of them changes a lot in the series as well as the overall vibe of the game (well, especially the shift from TPL to Jak 2 is the biggest one so I'd be curious to hear your opinion). Still, I urge you to give this series a second chance, especially since aside from one failed spinoff (The Lost Frontier), The Precursor Legacy is the weakest of the franchise. Oh, and as for the Crash similarities - I agree that they could add a bit more original stuff (which they did later in the series), but they started this project from scratch after they ended the development for the Crash series, so admittedly they didn't have that much time

most shallow review ive ever seen, 0/5. your 2 biggest complaints are that the lead females are attractive? and that daxter (who appears to be younger than jak) flirts with a teen? thats not perverted, its normal. normal in tv, games, anime, and also in real life. and you cant even say with certainty that the characters are all white. the art is supposed to resemble a blend of western and asian styles. saying all the characters are white is like saying that all the characters in naruto are white. which they are, if your looking for the right colored crayon, but naruto is set in japan, and japanese people are obviously asian.

This is an L take and is giving cringe woke white knight energy. Visuals, sound, story, gameplay are, for the most part, quantifiable areas for review based on knowledge of what a good games story or music is like. But a FRESHNESS scale is hilarious and absolutely ridiculous. To try to retroactively judge media, made in a different time and era, based on how "woke" it was, is incredibly funny. Like what about Jaws? Just because it didn't include multiple female characters, or talk about the social issues of it's somehow deserves to be rated worse? Or a film like Tropic Thunder? Does it's use of black face make the film any less funny? The list could go on and on with games, movies, tv, and books. Wow the fellowship of the ring doesnt include a single girl, what a sexist piece of shit that Tolkien was. If you want my honest advice about reviewing games, leave the politics out of it (unless the game is clearly trying to correlate something within it thats being experinced in the real world) and get rid of your "freshness" scale. Games are for many people, escapism. Being able to lose yourself in Tamriel, Azerorth, or down the streets of Los Santos for a couple hours a day, where you dont have to see the the hate spewed out by vitriolic mobs on the internet. Or where you dont have to worry about the gender politics or race relations of the country. You just get to be in an different world for a bit. Theres nothing wrong with videogames seeking to talk or represent these topics, because it is just another art meduim in which to express oneself through. But not every game needs to be Schindler's List. Some games, like Jak and Daxter, are the Saturday morning cartoons. That are fun, light, and offering colorful and unique worlds that would be cool for a 6-12 year old to be apart of.

"Why are these female game characters being depicted in a non-realistic style, clearly no one at Naughty Dog had ever seen a women before." paraphrased your opinion from the vid My guy, no one cares that there's "no room for a uterus" on their character models, it's because they're heavily stylized cartoon characters. Why should they follow "realistic" anatomy rules when the art-style isn't realistic to begin with, and when plenty of the other characters don't? Samos's legs don't have enough room for the muscle required to hold up his body, and he's neck-less and shaped like a bowling ball. The Red Sage has matchsticks for ankles. Half the characters have anime bug-eye faces. The characters don't look realistic because the art-style doesn't have realism in mind. Also, why are you mainly bothered by the female characters being "unrealistic" and not the male ones? "We need representation of people of different ethnicities" Real life ethnicities don't exist in Jak's world, so how would that even work? The characters aren't "white", they are fantastical interpretation of humans, and many of them don't even have human skin colors or hair designs. Jak's world is one of all humanity living in more or less centralized pockets; different ethnicities and the concept of phenotypes being associated with particular ethnicities wouldn't even arise in this world. Even if they did, I'm not convinced it would make sense for the first game to have a variety of differenty ethnicities, because it's set on what appears to be an isolated landmass in the distant past of the fictional setting's overall timeline.
