It's noticeable that the miners give you way too many bateries just for precursor orbs, maybe those bateries were intended to be in the Yosemite level but were cut off due to production problems. Nice video! Such an interesting level. I would love if I could have put it in the game to play it

The the unused red eco vent lines and the vent being in Yosemite seems pretty obvious. But this is a really cool cut level, no wonder ND were trying so hard to integrate Yosemite into the final game. I guess it is more interesting because it is unused, though. If it got into the final product there probably wouldn't be as much intrigue.

it's nice to see new things being discovered in a 21 year old game

Kinda feels like the red sages version of forbidden forest, definitely fits the miner personality of the red sage would love to see this somehow finished and playable.

Now that the port to the pc is complete and mods are starting to come out the woodworks its more of a matter of time and work on someones part. Heck I look to see a full reworking of the whole game with ideas that were cut at some point in the not to distant future.

I had a feeling there were supposed to be other eco vent switches. When you activate the yellow switch on Snowy Mountain, you'll hear 3 sound effects instead of just one. The second one sounds high-pitched and the third one low-pitched (just like the other SFX for green and red eco, respectively).

If I remember correctly The Cutting Room Floor stated that there's unused mission text for an "activate the red eco vent" mission. Chances are the red eco vents in Snowy Mountain and maybe Misty Island would've been disabled initially.

This is interesting. I always wondered what was behind that big gem.

@@VtnVivi Jak & Daxter 1 is tied with Super Mario Galaxy for my favorite game of all time. I would LOVE more stuff from that game. If they ever do remake J&D1 they should definetly consider adding in cut content.

As a child I remember waiting a whole day in front of the gem for the miners open it lol. My childhood self knew something was going on :p

One thing is for sure, getting to see cut content from any game always makes a strange impression, seeing something that you know for sure does not exist in the game is weird

I wonder if there's cut content near the Yellow Sage's Hut? The only thing next to the Hut is the final dungeon Gol & Maia's Citidel. The Yellow Sage's Hut has nothing else around it unlike Green, Blue & Red, it's ill fitting compared to the others.

This needs to be added to a remastered or remake of the Jak games

Awesome video! I'm so happy it's finally found. Big thanks to Luminar Light! 🙂 I'll release the build once I've created a release video for it. Sorry it's taking so long. I collect other pre-release games too, but this is a centerpiece, so I want to give it a special treatment. You call it "Yosémity", and I thought it was "Yo-se-mite", as in termite. I figured it was based on the termite colony shape of the center mountain or perhaps the mineral-rich landscape, connecting to the giant gem in the cave. And what if this level was meant to support both the Zoomer and Flut Flut, seeing as there two trans-pads 😮

I think the eco vent-looking thing in the center of the rock village room with the gambler and warrior was going to be a red eco vent that would be open after completing Yosemite

That's the high quality version of the Unsnowy Mountain track, we most likely would've gotten a lower quality in-game version had the level been worked on longer.

There's these areas in Jak II & 3 you can get if you start the first cutscene of a game, eject the tray and doing this little thing which involves restarting the cutscene or something, the Wasteland one in 3 is veeeery unsettling and creeps me the f out, lots of areas aren't even rendered in and it's completely empty, there's this spot of the tall Mountains or whatever and you can walk into it but there's a black abyss and nothing in front, that honestly terrified me the most and there's nobody in the Wasteland and it's dead silent, basically isnt a good feeling or happy place.

I remember when I first saw the video. I mentioned how I didn't think that a red eco vent didn't make much sense because it's only used for combat segments, and normally, the eco vent switches are supposed to open up new routes or areas so you can get more power cells, but red eco can't do that, it can't even open metal crates, if im not mistaken, that was all yellow eco, so maybe that was one of the reasons why it was cut.

You could have a tough, otherwise unkillable enemy blocking your path that you need red eco to take out, and no active vents or clusters that spawn nearby, but a capped off vent near it. So you activate the vent and then get to use the red eco to take out that enemy and open up a new path.

Bro my theory was that it was possibly a level located inside or right beside Mountain Pass upon discovering the reveal of the level, also the music was official but never placed in the final version of the game, the ledges though remind me of the ledges that lead up to the Flut-flut egg in Sentinel Beach

I'd love a TPL remake that includes all the unused levels and stuff from the first one. So much of the world we just don't know

I saw that Video talking about the TPL Yosemite unused level yesterday! I don’t know what we can do about that level but maybe adding it to a Jak & Daxter PS5 Remaster. Man, Jak & Daxter is starting to have a lot of discoveries than Sly Cooper and Ratchet & Clank and we really need to restart Jak & Daxter.

I feel like Naughty Dog should just give the rights to Jak and Daxter to another studio. It's clear that they have no plans for them so might as well let someone else have a swing at them

I will dream of playing this level tonight fully complete. I played this when I was around 6 years old, just now finding this out at the age of 27. My favorite game to this day

I wonder what the dock at boggy swamp was supposed to be for. I feel like it was supposed to have the fisherman’s speed boat to go to another island or something relating to precursors. Maybe the lost precursor city, another route that you wouldn’t have been able to get to from inside

I imagine "protect the miners gems" was a mini game in the same way that Fisherman and Boggy Billy is. one mini game for each sector of the game.

This is so cool - now I wish they could’ve gotten it into the game.

With the game being successfully ported to PC, I think its very likely we will get some mods that re-introduce cut content. With everything we have for Yosemite, I think we would get a very accurate version of what It actually would have been too!

This is pretty crazy. I wonder if there's additional data that describes the missions in the level? Like if we could emulate it better, could we play through whatever ND did manage to make for this level?

I wonder if they're going to try making a reboot or continue the story probably both like they did with Ratchet & Clank.

Man, what an interesting &awesome video to save into my bookmarks of Jak & Daxter stuff. FOREVER OBSESSED. I'm currently hunting down the ps4 limited run... so freaking hard to find at a reasonable price! Waiting, waiting, waiting for a ps5 remaster. ♡

I seen the video from that guy, very cool kinda wish the level made the final cut though.

I always felt like red eco was underutilized. I guess we know why now.

If they did a reboot it would be neat if they added all the things they couldn't before and make use of the power of the current console.

I really would have liked this level to be in the final game, If they do a remastering I hope they put this map as a secret

Just imagine.............. after the ending, you head back to the miners, only to discover they made the gem pop out! You enter the TRUE final level, in which, after many a trial, you eventually find the ultimate treasure............. a stuffed teddy bear! You return the bear to the Warrior, which stops him from crying. That good feeling you get is the reward.

It reminds me of that hoverboard forest temple with the life tree in jak 2

I think it's clear that The Precursor Legacy was originally meant to be a bigger game than what we got. So here's a story, even though I grew up with Jak and Daxter, I didn't make it past Rock Village until I got the HD collection (Long Story, but just know I lost the game for years). I always imagined that there were at least four villages and that each had a temple with an eco vent switch, like in the Forbidden Jungle. I assumed the sunken Precursor City was Rock Village's temple, since you entered it through an elevator like the jungle temple. I thought at the bottom of the city there would be a boss and a red eco vent switch. So it looks like that may have been their intention all along, not my theory about the sunken city, but definitely the vent switches. It would also explain why red eco is so rare in the final game.

💎This is the first time seeing this Yosemite level but it's uncompleted I'm sure it's located in behind the big Gem in Volcano Crater💎

This breaks my heart but also makes me super happy to see the amount of effort Naughty Dog took to making the experience that much greater for us players, I still remember the PS2 era fondly with Jack and Daxter, Sly Cooper, and Ratchet and Clank to name the top dogs but there are so many more.

Strip mine from Jak 2 kind of reminds me of this, the mountain/cliff with similar looking trees on top.

with the pc port being made is it possible for the level to be restored somehow via mods

I see why they wanted to keep this level it would’ve been the most fun level for the last sage area Replaying it I’m not the biggest fan of the 2 sections we get instead of 3 at the red sages hub area… Spider cave looks cool but is just okay Snowy mountain is alright too but not special Definitely the weakest areas in the game But this Cut area I bet would’ve made up for it! Looks a lot better than spider cave and snowy mountain

Wow! I always thought Red Eco wa rather underutilized, seems like this whole level was based around using red eco a lot and having to turn on the red vents. It all makes sense now!

Aaah, cool! I never new there was a Unused Level for Jak & Daxter: The Precursor Legacy. Would loved to see in the final build and that it could have finishend it back then. Also I ways found the huge gem in the mine always odd, that it hide something. And I found it very creap to buy power cells from the miners, would be cool if those power cell were ment for this level.

Hey i don’t know if you would be interested, but i had found out about a specific glitch in jak 3 that i haven’t found anywhere else. I looked and looked but nobody else has mentioned it from what ive seen. Its a certain glitch that happens but you have to use the fly glitch to get to it. It puts you in a room where you can only move the camera and it forces you into first person pov. You can sometimes hear metal head gems falling and wont let you view the pause menu. It acts like a cutscene in a way. Only way i know of how to get out of it is to shut the system down to restart. I posted a video of it on my channel, but its extremely poor quality and such. Idk i just thought its something i could share, its hard to find other jak and daxter fans or new content so id like to share my knowledge i have on the matter since i cant find info from it anywhere else

Is it just me or are you starting to bring out new videos more regularly now? They’re definitely on the shorter side from what I can tell but I’ll still a lifetime just to see new videos from you!

I have to wonder what uses you'd get out of having capped red eco vents that you could turn on. Since all red eco does is make you hit twice as hard and seemingly have a bigger radius on spin kick.

It's definitely interesting that this stage existed. Personally, I think it would of fit rather nicely between Mountain Pass and the Volcanic Crater hub!

Awesome, I've been waiting for something Jak and Daxter related. So far I've been waiting these Speedruns on Ratchet and Clank: poki skip and how speedrunners beat Jak and Daxter with 8 power cells.

I would love to Play jak and daxter with some new playable areas that bring back the old jak and daxter Vibe we Had as kids

I’ve never seen anyone make this comparison but this may not be original. But has anyone ever made the connection between Krew and the billy in boggy swamp? They have a similar look/ vibe and krew’s bar even has a statue of Farthy on top of it. Makes me wonder if he’s supposed to be a descendent or something.

Also kinda lazy how those 2 miners just give you power cells for orbs, those power cells where probably reserved for the level

It’s crazy vtnvivi 20 years later and people are still finding new stuff in the jak and daxter games. Maybe the part with the zoomer pads was going to an alternate short cut for the player. 🤯🧐

doubt you’ll see this, but it has been 6 months since you made any video regarding the Jak and daxter series, it would be interesting to know your thoughts on the potential theatrical production or maybe a discussion video on the premise of eco sages and how their powers work, Kiera being a potentially “colorless” sage (due to the vague nature of her abilities in the lost frontier) or the concept of a sage of light eco?

for example, how the the games (Jak 1&2) Hint that eco sages draw their powers from the primal sources of eco ex: Natural Flora for green eco, lava and magna for yellow and red respectively, and areas with frequent thunder storms for blue (rock village) also explaining why their huts are in those specific locations… as for dark eco sages? well just take one look at where Gol had setup his base.

Since there's a team of people who've pulled apart Jak and Daxter and ported it to natively run on PC, I wonder if they could patch Yosemite into the game...

I just wish they would remaster or rework it with cut content.

I'm gonna say it: Don't expect ND to remake and/or make a new Jak game. Ask the fans, fanwriters, character designers, fan-music producers and modders instead! Give 'em money, and maybe ask the OG creators to help with the coding (sort of like mentors). It's clear - to me, at least - that ND of today doesn't understand the Jak franchise anymore. A game by the fans, for the fans! I know it's a pipe dream...
