What a beautiful keyboard! That price is a little steep, though quality, niche products tend to go that way. I'm working on building my own keyboard right now with a similar typewriter style, though it'll be wired to keep costs down. Thanks for the review!

Hey I just want to throw this out there, the different of having a clicky versus a linear for gaming is so tiny and minute that unless you're betting a lot of money and playing at professional levels, I would say that it's actually just preference. However, this keyboard specifically does not lend itself to being a gaming keyboard due to a multitude of factors, such as the shape of the keycaps, body size, the bar. This keyboard while not made for gaming could be used for that case although it wouldn't be much better than a $30 membrane based on the feature set. It all really comes down to the use case as well. This keyboard, like Mark says, is a novelty item and that is where the bulk of the cost comes from. There are other keyboards that come in this form factor for much cheaper, however this one does seem to have the best build quality from what I have seen. If you're not absolutely dead set on the qualities of this keyboard and the cost, I would recommend a host of other mechanical keyboards. If you are in the apple ecosystem, I would recommend the k1 v4(the latest version). It is mechanical, hot swappable, has three bluetooth profiles because it is also wireless, full button assignments, full rgb lighting, and comes standard with apple key layouts. That keyboard also is good for gaming as well, I would recommend that you plug it in to be used though to avoid any lag. If you have a windows system, then literally anything in the mechanical keyboard market. There are so many good keyboards out there and I feel like it's a bit misdirecting if someone recommends $290 keyboard that comes with standard cherry blues. The original asking price of this product is $400. For that you can just get a custom made keyboard with everything you want.

*gasp* !!! I remember using a manual typewriter, and the company I worked for - without consulting us for our input since we would actually be the ones using the machine - went out and got an “electronic” typewriter. That’s what they called it. It was completely FLAT. The exact opposite of this beauty. WHAT A BAAAAAD IDEA. Such a failure. No one could use it.

Oh and I totally disagree with your assertion that Cherry MX Blues aren't good for gaming. I've killed keyboards by typing them to death in gaming, so Cherry MX Blues are all I use now and I'm very happy with them.

Cherry MX switches are not even close to a real typewriter. They are great switches but are on the lighter end of mechanical computer keyboards in terms of actuation force. They are even lighter than my Model f (buckling spring no membrane) and Omnikey 101 (Alps White). Typewriters do not have a crisp break when you press a key like this keyboard does. On a typewriter you don't stop pressing that key until the typebar hits the ribbon which is a long linear press. This keyboard may have a typewriter aesthetic and may be well made, but it is still just a modern mechanical keyboard with round keys.
