I found GOLD in Lapland!
I went on a 48 hour round trip from Helsinki to the woods of Lapland to search for gold - and oh boy did I find some!

Dave, you should try metal detecting next to get that "fisherman's high" you were talking about, hey you can even find gold if you are lucky :)

I totally agree with this.
You're right! Kimmo seems like a nice heppu! EDIT: Leo has a nice fire engine!
This was nice! Maybe you should go different areas of Finland and try out their special traditions. Like baking REAL Karelian pasty at South Korelia or something else with other areas. Home country traveling is right now the thing!

I read "real Karelian pasty at South Korea" 😂
My grandfather was a hard worker in gold panning. He even starred in the film "Lapin Kullan Kimallus" He is not seen in the film at all, but in the closing credits his name is showed. My grandfather name is Sulo Harjunpää

Cheers! Great video, can't wait to see your next adventure
Thank you Dave, a very good video, professional I should say. Hope you'll do a new one soon!
Such a good video! May not have got the 4 grams, but must’ve been so worthwhile regardless, the experience is priceless!
Nice to see some more mining for gold in Finnish Lapland, thanks for sharing🤠
Cheers from Australia. I took my Finnish exchange student to a similar place here in Australia, we tried some gold panning but didn't find any gold. When I visited her in Finland we traveled on the overnight train to Rovaniemi and went to Santa's village. I love your videos, please make more like this of places to visit for when I can visit Finland again, Covid lockdown go me stuck in Australia.
So cool you found some gold! That seemed like a VERY LONG journey there and back,
CHEERS This video is epic Dave! So happy you did this bro! Loving the more adventurous side to your channel! Would love to hang out with you one day! I know that probs sounds strange but I feel very similar to you in my videos I try to keep it real and nothing fake! I like that style you have bro
Great video!
I would also recommend visiting a traditional tar maker if you get a chance, since there aren't many around any more. I think these processes are quite fascinating and beautiful, while labour intensive. I grew up in Sodankylä and always loved our family's summer trips to different nearby destinations: an amethyst mine where I could pick my own, seeing stuffed animal corpses in centres at the beginning of bigger hiking trails, eräkämpät ja ulkohuussit, picking berries and fishing. I hope you get to experience with your family all that I enjoyed as a child in there, if you ever get the chance to visit again.
Cheers Dave, really appreciated the video. If you're ever in Savo area during summer, I could show you superb places as when I come here for holidays. Do hmu
I've watched so much Gold Rush on TV that I'd kinda wanna try it out some day, even at small scale like that.
Nice video and really familiar environment. I was working as a guide in that Gold Museum there years 2012-2016, mainly just summer seasons. :) Been digging gold also since 2010. So if you want even more information about gold digging/prospecting, I'm more than happy to help. :) Cheers. :)
Cheers! Hopefully you will get back to the lapland but this time maybe in winter time and go places like Levi or Ylläs. And then do some ski-doo driving and downhill ski. Ou and also taste some Saami foods :D
cheers! great finds and what an experience.
Very entertaining video! Kimmo seemed cool. Cheers mate! 🍻
Lovelly idea, Nice nature of finlands lapland and finding gold. But you also find Lapin Kulta beer in store 😄
Cheers, it's nice to see some Suomi when we can't really travel that much right now.
come next summer in Sodankylä, 2nd week of june. we have MidnightSunFilmFestival, hopefully🙂
You did a great job!
DOUBLE RAINBOW! OH MAH GAWD!
Great video! I miss your streams! We had so much fun ... :(
I remember when I was a kid and I was at Lemmenjoki. We got a chance to try dig up some gold on the properties of some old guy who lived there alone by the river in the tiny little hut not very much bigger than those outside wooden toilets. He had found a piece that he said was worth around two thousand euros or something. He showed it to us and it was like around five to seven centimeters long, maybe some three centimeters wide and maybe like one thick. The thing was heavy and he said he didn't want to exchange it because it meant too much for him. But come on! Two thousand, I would sell it in a heart beat. Also he said that whatever we can dig up we can keep. I found a small piece of garnet, which I don't have anymore. I might've given it away or something. One cousin was with us and he found gold, but those gold pieces were so tiny that even when they were in a sample jar in the water that makes the piece look bigger, you could just barely see that there was anything in the water. But of course he was still very cocky about it and he was like "But I found gold and you didn't, sucker".

Respect for the man for keeping his gold and not selling it. The meaning of an item is much more important than the value.
Great video dave.
Cheers Dave👍
I loved it. Thnx Dave!
You're a brave man for putting the blindfold back on after the gadfly 😂 My spouse and I grew up north not actually too far from Tankavaara, and he loves reindeer tongue, but I've never had the courage to taste...
Cheers! I've never eaten a catfly or dug gold. So you're propably among quite few persons who dug gold in Finland as foreigner. Awesome trip Dave! 👊

Catfly 😂😂😂
I went on a summer camp near there as a kid and we got the chance to try some mining. I only found a bunch of small pieces of garnet, and no one got any gold unfortunately. I still have the garnet in my drawer though, in the original tube. =d
Your pronounciation of R is getting better. I'm proud of you Dave, hyvää työtä!
Such a unique experience!
Such an awesome adventure in Lapland, will have to look at doing this next time we head up there 😅
Very nice and wonderful video. :)
So cool! Inspired me to go find some too 🙈❤️
Cheers, mate!
A really interesting video. Kimmo seemed to be quite a jolly dude.
I didn't get any notification of this video! I usually do get notificated when you upload.
nice metaphor at the very end of the video, Dave!
Cheers! This was amazing trip👌🏻🤩
Cheers! I really want to go pan some gold someday!
Ah a new series. Mini adventures with Dave
I had no idea there was gold to be found in Finland - how fun!
Cool trip! But omg 12h... why not to fly up north, Tankavaara is 60km from Ivalo airport

Aaw excited you were in Rovaniemi, too bad I didn't accidentally ran into you!
The headline made me think you have signed a sponsorship deal with Lapin Kulta....
Cheers. Great video! we need more like this :) "British guy exploring Finnish nature"
I hope you visited kulta-kioski on the road to kuttura and had their hamburger.. or you missed the best part of the area :D
Hey Dave, I enjoyed watsching the Video very much. Nice trip and you are a Lucky Gold digger.

What is the netflix series you watch?
Cheers :D
lol Kimmo put the tiny gold nugget in the launder 😂
More gold digging!
Your only mistake was that the trip didn't last for 10 days :D then you would have made the 200e back. This was a nice video, thanks :)
@herrakaarme

Living there for 10 days would have increased the price of the trip quite a bit, though, requiring even more gold to be found. Unless he had got fully sponsored board and lodging for such a long time.

@@herrakaarme That's perhaps the reason hardcore gold "diggers" live in tents or in their van :D
Double rainbow all they! OMG what does it mean!? Wow! Double rainbow YEAH!

What was the tv-show?
CHEERS
that small nugget would cost somewhere around 50-100e if bought from nugget dealer so you were close to brake even. 🙈

What is that "cat fly"? Is it paarma?

Looks like it. Horseflies (paarma) are sometimes called "gadflies" so maybe that was the word he was going for.
it's so weird seeing rovaniemi in a video. even weirder when narrated in english

I know you like fishing. There's a KZread channel named Eumer Fishing. They every now and then make collaboration with other KZreadrs too. They have a biggest Fishing Shop in Finland, I think, and they also have many fishing quides at their service. So, why don't you make a contact with them and try next (or sometime in a future) some fishing with the real pro's?
Is this the "Golden" video?
Tankavaara, Sodankylä.. I living Sodankylä😃😃😃
D'fuck was that thing with flies? No one actually eat flies there?
