My wife and I, were on the Yellowstone river last year. We were more excited finding agates and Pet wood than if we were on our own shores picking up Petoskey stones ( a coral) and Lake Superior Agates. Watching your videos reminds me how great it was searching the river, even though the 100 degree weather was rough. Keep up the good work.
Thank you for the sounds of the frogs. That is music to my ears. Rock hunting to a chorus of frogs is almost like heaven on earth.

Dear Alec, I absolutely LOVED this video. The music and outdoor sounds were so much like a Solitude CD. I am a huge fan of Solitude music and own many CDs because they put me in such a Zen state. The music, for me, achieved the immersive feeling that you were trying to accomplish. The new video from the drone, the muffled wind sound, and your other shots of the rocks with you out in the stones with Kip looks like you are becoming an accomplished cinematographer. All your discoveries illicited many explanations of wonder from me and my husband who stuck around to watch the video. I only hope you went picking more morels as here in Manitoba I don’t think we have ever had a windfall of them as we have had this year. In fact I made homemade cream of mushroom/morel soup for supper last night! So the video in all its rock hounding glory was really a win win for me! ❤😊

Nancy! Wow.... your comment really made me smile. I don't feel worthy of such compliments, but I really appreciate it. I like the solitude 'vibe' if that is the right word.... especially when I am out there exploring and hunting. I will definitely be trying to build off of this for future videos. Thank you for the feedback! We found about 6 lbs of morels just a few weeks ago. Most of ours have dried up by now. Have a fantastic weekend!

thanks for taking us along.... The stones are gorgeous... ALL of them. The agates are very pretty but so, so different from those that I have the opportunity to hunt & find. My agates are Lake Superior agates and far more colorful with multiple bands. I am 80 yrs. old & don't get to agate hunt very often anymore but when I do. I enjoy every moment. My daughter says "Mom. why do you have all these rocks?" I just tell her, " If you don't know, you will never understand. It's something that is unexplainable. You just know. " .... have a great day & happy hunting.

Just watched this video with my sister. She is in Virginia and I am in Wyoming. Congratulations on putting together a high quality video. You have put in your homework. Love the adjustments you have made especially the drone footage and an increased emphasis on the beautiful area you are at. Always like the calm energy you obtain in your videos. Thank you. Best wishes.
I live 13 miles from a nice rocky beach. My mom and i used to go there a lot to primarily hunt for agates. But the ones you find are so much big than the ones we ever found. What a nice place to be for rock hunting.

i have nothing but sand and dirt around here
My young son and I found a lovely, smooth, oval agate in rural Washington. It has a peculiar cluster of what looks like hair or extremely frayed wood fibers inside of it. It's super clear and simply the coolest thing! We had just moved there from Alaska, where my brother had always found petrified wood fragments and he collected them 😊
I just found your channel, I'm over in Missoula. Subscribed. I'm no geologist, amateur or otherwise, but I have spent countless hours exploring rocks on the banks of Montana rivers over rhe past 30+ years. Love it!
Before you started talking about the subversive experience, I was thinking how wonderful the sounds and area sights are. Just incredible!
Hi Alec. Just wanted to share my opinion on this particular video. The introduction and sound are stunning - so much that I had to go back to the start to listen to the sound of nature once again. Sounded like a perfect meditation clip actually and even your intonation and voice was soothing (you can try making meditation videos it seems lol). Love the drone flights - it’s like having an out of body experience and watching from above. We have moved from Ontario to New Brunswick (Canada) a year ago. I love collecting rocks and am not sure I have been able to confidently identify them. I find a lot of quartz and unakite, but that’s about it. No petrified wood ever (at least not in the area we are currently living). The beach has tide extremes - sometimes very very wild and high tide and at others, very very low. It’s quite humbling to experience this. Anyway, I wanted to let you know you’ve hit your goal when you said you wanted to share this ‘immersive experience’. Thanks for putting extra effort to allow us have more experience along with you! Great job.
What a beautiful adventure! Thanks for sharing!

Nice video, Alec. The walk in the woods was lovely. Since I live on the other side of the Rockies, I'm not familiar with Montana plants. @@AgateAngler I like your idea of more full emersion in the experience. I've always missed knowing what your neck of the woods is like. Thanks AA
I always enjoy watching these videos, glad to see you're planning on posting more content and are working towards improving your cinematography. Something you might consider to drive traffic to your channel is giving your video thumbnails extra "Pop". Many of yours tend to look similar and although the gem specimens are pretty, just having them in hand isn't necessarily the most exciting composition. Think to yourself, why would the average person bother clicking on a video where the big payoff is uninspiringly revealed before the video even starts? By creating some type of mystery people will just have to click because they need to find out what happened. Highly clickable thumbnails typically have three bright and distinct elements when together clearly tell the tale of your video, while eliciting some type of emotional response from the viewer. Try to remember, even though your channel is dedicated to people who specifically have an affinity for geology, your subscriber count will blow up if you also find ways to relate to viewers who aren't necessarily into rockhounding. Videos about one thing can still be about everything.

Mike, I appreciate you taking the time to write such a thoughtful comment. I definitely try to find the right balance with thumbnails, but of course what I see as interesting may not catch everyone's eye.
