I Found a Copy of DRIVER SAN FRANCISCO!

Ойындар

I just found a copy of Driver San Francisco. This is a series where I go back and play games that I couldn't as a kid, getting all achievements and collectibles (at least ones that aren't deactivated). In my other series, Nostalgia Drive, I play games I already had started but here I'm going to my backlog and playing classic and retro games I missed out on in their time. From server shutdown to new remake any reason to play one of these hidden gems is worth playing to give the game a review and retrospective. Most gameplay is taken from my live stream so if you want more just subscribe! My discord is also open to anyone looking to play some of these classic games!

    The driving is meant to be a bit floaty because it was designed after legendary chase scenes in older movies, where cars would slide easily and let off much more smoke than realistic. Drive it with the sliding in mind and it all makes sense

    Driver San Francisco may be a love letter from Reflections to their beloved franchise. After years of them trying to make Driver like GTA, they decided to make the latest Driver go back to its old style: driving, no guns just driving, and I loved it especially when they decided to use licensed cars instead of fictional cars to make the city of San Francisco stand out.

    I disagree that the Driving mechanic is not great . Imo this game has one of the best Driving mechanics I've seen in a game. The cars only loose control if you get cocky on your own, Drifting is more skill based as you can't just speed up and drift immediately instead you have to slow down before approaching a corner and then drift and fight to take back control. And also when you're normally driving, sometimes you spin out of control and then you can slow down again and fight to take back control. Tl;dr Not every out of control scenario can be solved by just speeding. It's a lot more skill based that you need to learn a little and that's what makes it so good

    I love D:SF so darned much. The handling is tailored to be reminiscent of 70's classic chase films, where cars skid through junctions and pull sick jumps and other stunts on the regular. Yes it's not a handling system for everyone, but it's not only super satisfying to hit a smooth slide through sweeping turns... YOU CAN ALSO DRIFT ANYTHING. Semi-truck? Swing that trailer like it's a wrecking ball. Tough but so satisfying.

  • @ash._.es_._
    @ash._.es_._2 ай бұрын

    Guy who played a good amount of DSF online here almost a decade ago, driving has never been perfected in almost every Ubisoft game. This is just not a surprise anymore, but I will say it was worth an exception considering the handling here helped increase the skill ceiling of the online dramatically on top of the shift ability during its prime. I will not lie though. Like most singleplayer Ubisoft games with tacked on multiplayer modes, the online was not without flaws-but it still took a substantial amount of skill at its core. It… well ‘was’ a very necessary evil to keep the odd vehicle handling the way it is.

    Me and my friend used to play the lobby of this game rather than the races. It used to have this car drive around the map and it as unstoppable, so me and my friend made this huge roadblocks with the shift mechanic just to watch dozens of cars get flung across into the sky and across the map. Used to love doing that.

    Non-car enthusiasts need to experience this game. It truly is an adventure open world game that just uses cars as it's storytelling method as opposed to a freeroaming character. Because of it's shift ability and easy-to-learn physics, it's a great game for the non racing gamer to play. Driving well isn't as important as strategically putting the cars in the map where you need them to be to benefit you. There's no upgrading involved so you don't need to understand how cars work or what performance parts do what. All you need to do is immerse yourself in the story and experience a gameplay style no other game has tried before.

    On the server shutdown thing. It wasn't a multi-player shutdown (at least not directly). It was sunsetting the Ubisoft Connect/uPlay integrations as they went major maintenance for the Connect phase and practically made it impossible to support anymore on old consoles. Some games didn't use it. Some required the uPlay connection for multi. That's why games like Driver: SF, Splinter Cell Blacklist or AC IV Black Flag are still playable online and games like AC 3 or Revelations are not.

    I have this on 360 but I play on my Xbox One S, and I do not regret 100% it. I love this game

    This game looks incredibly fun and I'm sad I missed it. Also I got a 100% one for you but it might take a while; Fable 3.
