I'm not sure what Bob would have enjoyed more; that he's still teaching people to paint decades after his death, that he's inspiring people all over the world, or how AWESOME your van looks after following his tutorial

What other people see and what the artist sees is not the same painting. Most people see the intended subject. The artist sees every flaw and figures how to improve their technique to benefit their next work.

I have a funny feeling she is a genuine, talented, REAL artist putting some people on who do not know the difference except to say over and over and over again that Bob was nice and that he was relaxing. You know, just like all the great masters whose students merely used their art instruction as a means to crash. Michael Angelo was constantly yelling, "Hey, let's a go! What's a mattah with a you people?! You no supposed to a sleep when I'm a teach you to make a the happy leetle a trees!"

I'm super glad to see you sanded the panels down first before painting! I see alot of people paint beautiful murals on their cars on KZread, BUT they paint straight over shiny paint! I am an automotive spray painter myself and knowing that you went to the effort to sand first to give the paint something to adhere to, means I know all your hard work will last alot longer than most other similar projects that I have seen! Super well done! Your van looks awesome!
@sketchyride6021
3 жыл бұрын
You fail to mention the lack of fine line use, the fact that she could have 400 gritted the panel instead of priming and cleaned, and from a lack of sanding the primer to create a mechanically etched surface to adhere to , she essentially created a worse surface to paint than if she just scuffed the black. And the lack of enough clear coat to create a smooth finish that can be cut and buffed. No hate coming from this way, she did an amazing job but from a painters stand point it was painful to watch lol

"he must have been the most chill person ever" Bob was a Master Sergeant in the Air Force and used his painting as a way to disassociate himself from all he yelling and anger he had and it worked tremendously 😁 he also hated his hair. He originally got that permed hairstyle because it was cheap to maintain but then as he gained popularity his hair became part of how people recognized him so he kept it.
True fact: Bob Ross was a drill instructor for the US military and when he retired he said he never wanted to yell at anyone ever again.

What I love the most about these videos is that I automatically connected with my old self of self doubt. "I'm going to fuck this up, what am i doing, i should just stop, this is going to be horrible" but the truth is that even if it is horrible, the part that you need to get through is the scary part. In these situations, you're not worried about the result, you're worried about the process, and then when the result shines through, the reward feels so much better. To anyone watching, take the risks, make the mistakes, because trust me you will gain a whole new level of self appreciation.

I love what you said about adding color where it is not supposed to be. It brought the painting to life, I can't wait to use that in my own work!
The amount of detail you put into this is unreal! It looks magical and I love it 🖤
Not an artist myself, but I spent countless hours watching Bob Ross with my grandmother. You did an amazing job and the van looks awesome! Good job, and I know Bob Ross would love it.
Fun Fact: Bob Ross loved animals and would often rescue and rehabilitate injured or sick animals directly on the set of TJOP, so basically when you watch, there is most likely a cute critter just off camera where Bob can care for them. He had a friend named Peapod the Squirrel who made many appearances, as well as birbs, raccoons, and even a baby deer one time. He joked that he wasn't manly or tough enough for actually hunting animals, so he would go on "hunting trips" where he would "shoot animals" with his camera... lol apparently he was so chill like actual Disney princess that wild animals often just approached him for some love and cuddles. He has loads of selfies with wild animals you can find if you dig for them. So yeah, Bob Ross was a pretty incredible dude. The most wild thing about him was that he was actually a Drill Sargent, the guy who screams at recruits and yells "GIMME 50 PUSH UPS MAGGOT!" and he was known as the meanest and most terrifying Sargent. He tells a story where he believed that he was being mean for a good reason to make them strong so they could survive, but after witnessing a grown man cry and have a mental breakdown because of him, he vowed to never yell or be mean again. Painting was his escape from the daily stress of being a Drill Sargent, he was stationed in Alaska where the landscapes were beautiful and inspirational to him, so he focused entirely on that and retired from the military. Bob Ross was truly an interesting and inspirational man.
Bob was a great man because his legacy is still very much alive. Fantastic 1st try on a big uneven canvas outdoors. True ten quality content I must say.
6:57 i love how the car just goes "Green? Nonono! sluuuurp!"
The amount of detail! This channel is just getting better and better, and I get really exited when you guys upload❤️

"Good artists copy, great artist steal"- Picasso She is a (great) artist because she didn't just (copy) the Bob Ross tutorial, but "stole inspiration" from it to create her own world how she wanted to. In the words of Bob Ross "Art should make you happy". And that it did. Love the results ❤️.
Spectacular job! Very first rate work. I love it. I might have to try this now on my van.
4:57 - It looks awesome already! Also, I adore Bob Ross for the simple things he says while he paints. "There lives a little tree." I dunno if it's the way he says things but, man, the dude always gets me laughing. xD And that first rock attempt was so cute. Lastly, when it comes to painting vehicles you definitely want to be inside, if possible, where you can regulate the room temperature and humidity. This allows for an optimum paint cure. But with all that said, you've still done an amazing job!
Bob Ross would be so proud of you. His motivation in painting will still go on for many more years to come.
I loved this whole video. I wanted to see more Clear Coat put on. As a mechanic, I screamed for more clear for protective reasons. I also know how a good clean, thick clear coat can make paint look SOOO deep. I was hoping to see you watch a video on clear coating or so on. I think it would have made it pop so much harder. Great result either way. Maybe in the future, you can "color sand" the clear down smooth, then shoot two more coats on it, then polish it. It'd look AMAZING. I've wanted to clear some of my own Bob Ross inspired paintings in automotive clear and buff them. X-D seems like an interesting project.

@@BrianOfAteionas Yep.... Ive used 2k clear from rattlecans and it holds up/looks great. Maybe she wanted it to still have that textured handpainted look but I would worry about that clear coat breaking down after a couple summers in the sun, It turned out great would hate for it to fade.

Definitely needs a thicker layer of clear as well as PLENTY of wet sanding and buffing to get it smooth like the rest of the van. Then the clear won't distort the paint with all those bumps and you'll get the depth @VicariousClouds is talking about.

@@deezdrama In the end, as long as you did the clear coat correctly, you'd end up seeing the "hand painted look" even better, the clear would create depth as explained before. Specially in the little valleys and high spots of paint. As long as the clear is thick enough, and smooth enough, you'll get nothing more/less than a deep clear that exaggerates the hand painted look.
I'm old enough to have seen Bob "back in the day" and I've never been a fan of his work, though he makes painting look easy! Having said that, you did an AMAZING JOB on your van!!!! Bob Ross would be proud!
This is really wholesome. I think Bob would be amazed how this has turned out. Looks really, really good.
Of all the projects I've watched that you both have done, including the Tomes, this is my absolute favorite. Bob Ross would be proud of you both for taking his "world" and making it your own.
I remember my uncle and dad telling me when they were teens they had a van and they painted the sides and back of it. It was in the 60's and everyone was doing it. I think this is so awesome and if you want to paint your van, car or truck DO IT!!! Just research on what to use and what you want to paint!!!

Yeah, there were some crazy fantasy art murals on the sides of vans and the fuel tanks of motor cycles all the way into the mid-80's in the part of Texas where I grew up. There was even a guy who painted his El Camino up like a zebra, adding a black and white very real looking bristly mane on the roof and a silky rope tail to the latch pull on the tailgate. Made me smile every time I saw it cruising around town. 😄 The Houston area is kind of famous (notorious?) for having a large number of "art cars" on the road thanks to the annual Art Car Parade. That's where you get to see the wildest of the wild. Some people have literally spent decades altering their art cars.

Great work!! Thank you for paying such homage to Bob Ross. I have loved watching him for 40 years, and he deserves it!
This definitely makes me want to try s bob ross tutorial... so cool love the outcome
I love how she’s all modest about being afraid to paint on the van and her painting skills and then she comes out whooping butt. Her talents are insane!!!
That looks amazing. You are so talented, everything you do always looks so professional. You are an artist!
Nice way you explained how you did it. Beautiful master piece.
As a child I was a really big fan of Bob Ross and I have to say you must have made him very proud, this is an excellent example of his type of painting style and your right its your world and you've done it beautifully.
"There are no mistakes." Bob Ross is definitely one of the most wonderful ppl that ever lived. Definitely one of my favorite. Great job!! U did him proud.🖤
I always love when people custom paint their Van's, from fancy Bob Ross paintings, to just a few friends and some spray paint
This validates how good Bob Ross was at teaching and that his techniques will work - the van looks great.
Fabulous painting work, and it looks awesome on the van! Well done, and especially brave working with an unknown medium and substrate. I couldn’t help laughing when you said “I’m not built for this heat”, I have been saying that almost daily since we moved to Australia! 😂 (Vi är från Sverige/Finland) Another great video! 🤗👌🏻👍🏻🥳
Girl you have some mad skills, talent and a lot of guts, to do that painting on your van, just from following Bob's video. I'm sure Bob would be very proud of you. I think you did an awesome job on it, and on everything else you have taken on for projects.
OMG it's just perfect !!! My granny loved to look at all the videos of Bob Ross and so I saw a lot of them (and I watch his videos on twitch but it's a secret !) and your paint surely made him so proud of you and so emotional to see that his methods inspired a lot of people... (sorry about my English, I'm French and I don't practice enough English...)
Well for someone that claims to not paint that well, you Did an A AMAZING JOB ON YOUR VAN!! I SWEAR the way you paint you have been painting All your life! You are very talented!
Dude, that’s fantastic and fun! I love how you took Bob’s initial idea then went on your own adventure. Great work and thank you!
IDK why you get so nervous. Your painting skills are out of this world.

I remember him saying that - my late mum ADORED him. When my late dad also passed away last year we found a small suitcase FULL of videos of Bob Ross' show. Made me cry as I remembered watching it with my mum. Such a beautiful human soul was Mr Ross and this van would make both him and my mum smile I think. :)
Imagine how many people’s day you are going to make while you’re cruising around and they see a bob ross painting 😂 Her: it’s really flat and boring Me: my god it’s gorgeous. She’s so talented.

This looks so freaking cool!!! Well done, you did a beautiful job 😍
Beautiful! I love her bubbly personality and her infectious humor! She is so talented at so many things!
I was really scared for you when the rain came down! 😄 So glad it was fine. You did an incredible job! 👏😊
I’m old enough to remember when Bob Ross was on tv Saturday mornings, and as a person who struggles with stick figures I love seeing talented people paint and draw things. It’s amazing.
Ahmaaazzinnngg!! Bob Ross + adventure camper IS channeling his spirit! ❤ love what you made!
