Flying in Mexico is Magic - *Thumbnail is literally you crashing into the ocean.
Always welcome to Mexico. Next time you should land at hotel serenidad, it’s a small hotel with its own compacted sand runway next to Mulege on Bahia Concepcion. It’s not an entry airport but you can make all the paperwork on a previous airport like TIJ, MXL, SFE, buenos vuelos!

I waited for this video since you announced you were coming here. Thanks for visiting Mexico! Glad to hear you guys had a good time. And sorry for the bureaucracy we all have to go through, it's a shame we just can't be like in the U.S. , where everything is concise and very straightforward (starting with the FPLN being electronically filed...) Keep up the good videos, and greetings from Mexico City!

glad you enjoyed the video. The analogue process is a bit more personal even though it takes longer. So it's nice in one way.... :)
A return flight procedure would be cool too!
Eric, great video. I loved the nod to your wife not being impressed. I finished my commercial rating recently and since getting my IFR rating over a year ago I have been taking many trips with my family. Many times when I felt so accomplished about a flying mission my wife not my kids were impressed. I now view that (non-)reaction as a compliment. If I made the experience so effortless and unexciting, I did my homework and flying well. So - Congrats to a mission well planned and executed. Alex

Great video Eric! And thanks so much for documenting the process. I've flown to the Bahamas three times now and had a very similar experience - the nerves, the uncomfortable lack of weather info, and the exhilaration of finally making it. It's really what owning your own airplane is all about! You captured it well!
Great adventure!! Please do post the return flight:) Beautiful family.
A very fun adventure to watch, so thank you for sharing. Yes, I'd love to see your trip back and what you need to do in order to return. Some short clips of the family sharing their favorite bits of the trip might not be bad either. 🙂

Great video! I made the trip to Loreto for the first time last February in my Dakota, and had similar range/weather/lack of airport anxiety. I found Baja Bush Pilots's Airports of Mexico and Central America very useful...there are many airstrips along the way (in case of emergency) that are described in the BBP guide, along with border crossing instructions and eAPIS service. Well worth the effort, as you said. I am planning a trip to Mulege (Hotel Serenidad) this winter.

When we landed in Loreto for their customs, we were met by two teenagers with AR15s. All they did was ask to see PPL. Then they wandered off. We paid the various fees, BUT we had to pay a BIG fee to “keep the Cabo Tower open “ for a few minutes after their closing time. Like $400. And this was 15 years ago.
We took a new A36 from bay area, to Brown field to Loreto to Cabo. It was so fun. What an adventure.
