One thing I notice is that since everyone starts with 100 Grain, everyone will be rushing to buy as many properties as they can and placing them on their 4 properties to passively earn money for the rest of the game.

you can ONLY buy 1 business per round which should help, meaning you will MAX have 10 businesses by the end of the game so i think it'll work out

The idea of a monopoly based on type no matter the player is actually really good and brings up the idea of polyopolies, which is where multiple businesses own the market in a certain area

I swear making your photoshop paint stuff look pretty is an art

Since there are 32 spaces, to make sure someone doesn't buy a hotel just to hold it forever (not sure anyone would but who knows), I think change the store count to be 30, so there will have to be 2 spaces that never get a store. This incentivizes getting the stores so you aren't left with 1-2 spaces worth nothing.

I have a few main problems: 1) It doesn't feel like monopoly. All the things that make monopoly feel like monopoly are gone and the game won't feel as fun with some of the different features like the most money wins after 10 rounds. 2) It is a bit too complicated. There are too many rules to remember all at once. 3)The skill ceiling is too low and passive income doesn't help that as it is much harder to lose money and it isn't as detrimental to lose money. 4)Having everything the same price is a bit boring and I think all good games need a bit of chance in it to spice it up and to make it fun.

He can make every thing better in 1 way or another

I love how you used those two Majora's Mask songs because that games is nostalgic masterpeice; same with Ocarina Of Time. This is quite creative with great fixes you did for sure. The train station one I am pretty sure is something that we have all thought of before; so glad you did that. Also nice that you gave it an Oats Jenkins theme to it and that. The corner homes (also resulting in the removal of the jail, go and community chest/chance), evening the property values, phases, 4 house equivalents (i.e. the pizza shop and fashion store being before the house which is before the hotel) and the simplifying of the money. The goal and knowing when it will end is a great idea too, alongside the hiding of your money. Putting your colour on the properties is also a good idea since you wouldn't have to try to remember which property belongs to who (especially when most of them have been bought) or (physically) awkwardly turn around and look to see who has the card. It is also nice now that you don't pay for the property or landing on an empty (even if owned) property so you actually need to put something on it. The matching of "property put-ons" and adjacent properties (rather than colour sets) are nice too. I almost forgot to mention that the phases prevent someone from buying all the properties all at once. Just a couple of things I would change though; I think that it should be that you can go in debt (meaning negative amounts of money) but still not get bankrupt like how you did that. Also, properties should be worth more, the further they are from the corner behind. That means that the property just after one corner is worth the same as the property just after the other corner, but not as much as the property four spaces ahead of each corner per say. There could also be something special about being in your own or somebody else's corner. Perhaps if someone lands on your corner and then a property of yours with something on it, they will have to pay you double. Or maybe if you land on your corner, you have the option to skip your next turn (but not the turn afterwards), and not if you roll). Also, this might not be as good of an idea but I think that you should be able to actually buy clothes from the clothes store which makes you earn extra money later on or something, and then also have the option of whether to rent or buy something frmo the restaurant but need to rent somewhere (or be on one of your properties) at least once every 5 turns or you lose or something, and must have food (as in rent a house, hotel, one of your own properties, including your corner square, or buy from the restaurant) every 3 turns or something. I dunno, maybe that last idea of mine is kind of bad but ay. Anyway, I love Monopoly (despite the flaws) but you made it even better, kind of.

Tip: dont play monopoly, play his version instead (he is objectively right about everything)

Fun fact: Icelandic monopoly uses ISK, which is ~170 ISK = 1US$. Instead of starting 1, 5, 10, etc, the smallest note is 100ISK, then 500, 1000

I was offended throughout, I LOVE watching the horror and anger slowly appear on my usually lovely grandparents as I single handedly put them in bankruptcy after weeks of planning

You basically used monopoly to reverse engineer a game very similar to a board game called "chinatown" which while theres no moving around the board, players gain random property tiles spaces and businesses each turn, amd can trade literally anything around, except for businesses committed to the board which are stuck in place, businesses have a default income, and a boosted income if you can get a set amount next to each other that varies by type its really cool and funny to see someone else make something similar.

I feel like you should only get the passive income from properties only if you pass your area (bears palace, parking lot, etc)

That is a horrible idea. Unless you abuse the railroad system, you'll probably only pass your area once or twice in the entire game. And if you abuse the railroad system, then that means you won't have enough properties to place businesses on without excessive trading.

I think a good way to reduce chance in board games with dice, is to make players roll two dice, and let them choose between both dice faces and the sum of the faces as the result

the only change I would make is that in the business purchasing phase, you should be able to destroy one of your placed businesses as an alternative to purchasing one. destroying a business would cost some amount of grain, maybe 50?

Late game, jail is super helpful in trying to drain your opponents money. As you can still manage your property but you don't risk landing on another property for a bit

I think this would take longer because it’s all skill and all properties are equal the only reason monopoly ends is because you have better properties than the other plus having you all earn your value of properties every turn you will just get Aton of money it will end with all of you rich and somebody just barely richer

I doubt that this guy knew this but there is an actual game called Chinatown (which is one of my favourites) with around 85% of the mecanics mentioned here, its crazy

Very intriguing. Every property is the same, the only value comes from the probability of landing their, tho that requires a jail, and the businesses are VERY clever. I’ve also had an idea about when you land on a property of one color, you split the money you pay among the properties, so having a monopoly is just an arbitrary earnings bump

Must be bought or goes to auction is a core rule, along with collecting money while in jail, trading between players can occur at any time, and the game ends immediately when the first person goes bankrupt. The maximum length of an 8 player game of monopoly when played with the core rules and not any of the game extending house rules is around 40 minutes.

On a more serious note, Fortune Street is like Monopoly but better: you got more choices to make on the board, all transactions are automated because it's a video-game and more importantly there's a STOCK MARKET!! It fits right there with the initial theme of harsh unfair capitalism but it brings soooo many choices to hinder, betray and profit from your opponents like you wouldn't believe! If you own lots of stock in their favorite property colour they can't invest in them or it would almost be like giving you free money. It's like you co-own the place without having to buy it from them.

My family plays a version of monopoly that's akin to Mario party. The original paper money is garbage, so we use a 5 color set of poker chips that are worth 200, 50, 20, 5, and 1 each. That is the biggest quality of life change ever.

It looks like at the end, when you say a Monopoly can be divided between different players, that you went back on the idea presented much earlier on that any three properties can be a monopoly regardless of location

small note: this is playable with 2-4 players, not 3-4

My friends and I had a rule that everyone starts with 1/3 of the money and you HAVE to sell a property to pay a debt by an auction starting with half price and if no one bids, the sale goes to the bank for half the amount. This changes alone makes the game at least 3 times faster more or less

The ultimate fixing stuff crossover

I would recommend trying out the Farming Game. It's like monopoly but instead of buying businesses you're investing in buying crops, and the different spaces represent different seasons as you progress throughout the board which represents the year. I really like the game and, although it is just as long as monopoly, you have a lot more agency in what you're investing in, and you don't have to pay each other for landing on their crap :) also the win condition is whoever get enough money (a hundred thousand maybe?) to go off the grid entirely and I love it for the concept of it if nothing else
