The reason why it took him FOREVER is because the server shares the same fishing loot table. Since there was a lot more people fishing, if anyone would get the mending book, it wouldn't be able to fished up again for a long time. Like the mending book was taken off the loot table. Scar and Etho got one, Pearl had like five. No wonder Grain never got a single one for a along time lol

@@zelithfang2365 It doesn't work like that in this case. It's not like drawing names from a goldfish bowl, where previous draws will affect the odds of subsequent ones. It's like rolling dice. Each attempt is identical to the one before. Getting ten ones in a row is just as likely as any other sequence of ten consecutive rolls. That Grian struggled to get one is down to (real-world) bad luck. (I say that because I don't know how fishing rod enchants and luck potions affect things.)

Grian even explains it in one of his vids as well - the mending books appears in a specific given order shared across the server, and since the other hermits fish the book instead of him, they essentially take up his chances, and thus he will have to fish for the next one in the line. So obviously, if you fish in a singleplayer game or on a server with fewer players fishing, you're bound to use way less time, statistically

I'd love to see a 100 days in Twilight Forest. It's my all-time fave mod. Sure, it doesn't have a final boss implemented yet, but knowing you, you'd find some way to do it.~ Of course you'd have to start there and no nether access.

You are so lucky you didn't have to do this on a server. An SMP I was on banned mending trades w/ villagers to provide more of a challenge, so everyone had to fish for mending. It took me over a month of fishing nearly every day for 3-4 hours in order to get enough mending for just my armor 😭

For some reason, Leg repeating "Book book book" is very funny to me. I think he's become a chicken with how much he searched for mending.

Hello Legundo. Heavy Minecraft fisher here. (I also just recently discovered your channel so marathoning your videos)…. Next time you want to have a fish challenge, fish in a river, near a village. You will get treasure and therefore books way faster. I have boxes full of enchantments books in my worlds thanks that barely needing librarians in my early gameplays. usually I get 4 to 7 books per Minecraft day. Fishing is great for starting a game, to get an infinity bow and a mending rod real fast. In later game, fishing rod, bow and book with enchantments can be a good reserves of experience to harvest on the grind stone that I use to recherche and repairs my tools. I also fish now to repair my armor real fast. But to get a max of books vs fish, definitely fish near a village. I don’t why but the statistics changes in this environment. Sea and lakes aren’t good to get books.

I fished a mending book like a day ago in my hardcore. Also similarly because I was inspired by Grian. & Hermitcraft - My first set of tools and armor will be enchanted via the power of the ocean. And I am going with a very nautical theme for my builds. Since my main venture is art and not minecraft, fishing in minecraft helps me think of ideas of what to draw :D Edit: It happened when I wasn't recording D:

Watching your videos and the new season of Hermitcraft have really made me want to get back into playing survival Minecraft again. I might even try to do a hardcore world. Also, you could’ve gotten the book much faster if you and Mogswamp had built an underground shrine to the ocean

Couldn't you title it "I Survived 100 Days in the Sculk Apocalypse in Hardcore Minecraft.. Again" I'd love to see that continued since it's one of the only hardcore episodes that I've enjoyed in recent years.

I don't know if Grian had such bad luck or if it was that often times, he would be fishing with people around him and THEY ended up catching the Mending book that he technically COULD have caught, if they weren't around. I think that happened like 2 or 3 times?! 😂

Poor grian just has bad luck. But I hooked 2 mending books in 1 hour after watching his video before that I def fished ALOT

I started playing with a friend and day 2 I tried to get a mending book from fishing, a week later I got mending on all my gear.. after finding 2 zombie villagers and curing them then making a trading hall

Watching people take this long to get mending books makes me sad lol. I used to start a bunch of minecraft worlds with fishing for a bit and I swear my first mending book has never taken me more than 45 minutes. (Tbf in some worlds I did use an afk fishfarm so I cannot guarantee that it was that early in those but still)

No that’s a Sean one. That being said there’s some common mods between that and the Ultimate Survival Adventure so when I release that mod pack hopefully it’ll help.

@Legundo Legs I have ZERO DOUBT that I and (people leave a "👍" in the reply section of this comment if you want a Legundo 200 days in one of his worlds video) SOOOO MUCH OF YOUR FANBASE WOULD LOOOOOOVE A 200 DAYS VIDEO! I have seen other creators do it and I love it. i know this is a bit of a dumb question- but is the top right counter edited in or is it directly from the game/stats or a mod? Since in grian's hermitcraft playthrus he has a cool looking menu to see the total fished stat so i assumed it was similar

Okay genuinely I would agree except the public events overwriting progress just to reset your bar. That was infuriating. Just, in the moment I only had two other games to showcase and D2 drew the short straw.
