Huge shoutout to Fanku absolutely carried me with the editing. This project would have taken another 6 months without him.
Most of the music is from C418’s album “one” or other songs of his. You can support him here. c418.bandcamp.com/
Apart from a few misc songs, the rest of the music is from the Subnautica OST.

14:40 small fun fact, while Ethos' Let's Play is certainly long, there is one Lets Play that has almost double the episode count. His name is Gronkh and he Let's Played Minecraft for an astounding 1251 episodes. He is a german KZreadr and one of the first and biggest influence to bring Minecraft into the german KZread scene.

All of this makes me realize just how long I've really known minecraft for. So many of these events feel fairly recent, but no, that LP I watched that introduced me to minecraft actually is just 12 years old. And all of these other familiar events from there...

This LP you mentioned wouldn't happen to be by a small KZreadr who still hasn't hit 100k, despite having solid content, would it?
R.I.P technoblade❤ you will be part of history forever.
My respects to Notch, Mojang, teams of Minecraft server devs, mod devs, plugin creators, Minecraft youtubers and everyone else that made so many millions of childhoods. It wasn't THE game of my childhood but its made some of the best memories I've had with my long time best friend who's moved country recently. I'm over 18 now and I'm just having a great weekend looking through nostalgia, I can still quote some old Minecraft lets plays to this day and smile looking back on them.

Honestly crazy how this only has 29K views, this made me feel like I just lived the through 15 years Minecraft has had. One criticism I have is the fact that the legacy console editions weren’t really touched upon, because 4J studios were really cooking with those ones. Wii U edition, Switch edition, and PS vita edition weren’t even mentioned, or the old battle, tumble, and glide minigames. Just kinda wished those were mentioned.

I haven't even finished watching this but it's already one of the best things I've seen on KZread in the last few months
Hey! I was actually on the BTE team for making Kyoto and NYC! Im so happy you included a part involving the project!!!
Im so happy youre making videos outside of just hypixel now
technically it was defone who got the 1818 bedwars WS, techno helped him. techno got to 1400, then defone went to 1818. techno was on the team with them. Jiyn, Hascox, Defone, and Techno was the team.

I love that there's the subnautica abandon ship music on the beginning of the 2020 part.
Brother, Minecraft is so freaking goated, still playing it on expert mod packs, started when it came out. Love it to bits.
This video is absolutely incredible!! I watched the entire thing in one sitting and it was such a trip through memory lane. I found myself remembering small little nuances of these past events that you couldn’t cover, which enriched the experience for someone who’s been through every event in this video. Great documentary for both people familiar and people unfamiliar!
You are only talking about english youtubers... A German youtuber called Gronkh got on his first video 17million views, and his lets play lasted for over 1.2k videos...

i'll give an example... the "monster School" thing was an animation feature, but here some KZreadrs decided to remake and pick up a mob to interpretate (like a actor) that was one of funniest series that ever happened just becauae a bunch of people decided to be a "paid actor" for some years lmao
Watching this real late at night and thinking back to all of the good times had with this game and the friends made because of it. Currently playing minecraft and feeling lucky to have grown up with this game. Thanks for the video, made me cry.
Just watched the whole video, I cannot believe the marvel of a video you have made it literally explains stuff so well it kept me hooked, I couldnt watch in one go because of meals and stuff but this level of editing remaining consistent throughout 2 and a half hours is mind boggling please dont quit these types of videos I know the traction may not be as high as you want it to but never stop uploading ❤️
MISSING MAJOR ISSUES+Video Idea: This is a good video but it also ignore a very large party of history, Pocket,-Bedrock Edition which gets less representation because of the KZread scene. In 2016, a pre-Bedrock Pocket Edition server called Lifeboat had more players than Hypixel or Mineplex. The server: "Brokenlens" pioneered mini-games on the old Pocket Edition. Even before the Better Together Update, pocket Edition players have created stuff which rivals Java Edition, even with less resources. Servers on Pocket-Bedrock have a long history, it will be forgotten soon at this pace of there's isn't enough attention given to it. Bedrock Edition is the only Minecraft for the vast majority of people throughout history has only been on Bedrock Edition. I think it's unfair to give Java so much attention because it's not proportional at all.
@user-to7ds6sc3p
27 күн бұрын
As you already said nobody pays any attention to Bedrock, its mostly for people that don't have a PC or have friends that don't have a PC. Java Edition was and will always be the original Minecraft. Pocket/Console and Bedrock Edition are just simplified ports or awfull remakes. Microsoft obviously treats them the other way around because they can't milk Java Players for Microtransactions. While covering them would be interresting, that would probably blow the video way out of proption, it even simplifies a lot of stuff while sticking mostly to the, now Java Edition of the game.

@@user-to7ds6sc3p Java Edition is outdated in many ways. Who cares if it was the "original game" if you've got to install mods to not have performance issues. For the vast majority of people why bother? Most people have played Bedrock for the majority of history. KZreadrs are the exception, but not all of them are on Java either. Bedrock players outnumber those on Java at least 3:1, it's not even close. Bedrock is the majority of the community.

@@Nicetheforumer console always outnumbers PC, thats nothing new. Who cares if Bugrock has better performance if the game is not stable enough to not just randomly kill you, or phase you though the floor, or whatever stupid bugs it has. Not to mention random and slower redstone, that makes it impossible to replicate many java contraptions. Ever thought about that KZreadrs have a reason to use Java? Javas performance can be fixed by grabing a premade Modpack, a todler could do that, good luck fixing Bedrocks issues.
i love the longer form of content. One of my fav Minecraft youtubers
I shedded a few tears. Minecraft really impacted me and millions of other people. Playing it as a kid bringed me moments of joy, excitement, curiosity and self expression that will forever stay in my memory, and to me its the game that no matter what happens, I’ll always come back to it. For me its a gateway to feel free, to do whatever I want and enjoy it because thats what Minecraft is and will forever be, a sandbox where the only limit, is your imagination. Thank you Minecraft, for the memories and experiences that did and will happen. Happy 15 year anniversary
I've been on a minecraft documentary binge the past week or so and counting. This is bringing so much peace to my inner child. Wasn't long ago, in 2016, when I would stay up all night in skype calls which moved to discord calls. Whether it was building... mindlessly collecting resources on our multiplayer realm, building and collecting money for our skyblock island on our favorite server, teaming up and waging wars all night against other kids just doing the same things we were doing. Feels like we all just grew up and apart a bit, covid came around and that was a blast being able to kick back like old times again. Some things are best left alone as memories, rather than constantly trying to recreate them. Trust me, we tried for a while... just like I know every other friend group did too. Cherish each other and the memories you've created. Everything is happening as it happens... in this day and age, your scope can be as wide as way back when all the way to all the unknowns in the future simply because of social media and the internet. We're all living one life together, and then the next and so on. First time visiting Pitfall and this channel, but bro just made me yap philosophically. I'm here to stay. Not for a long time, but a good time.
i was one of those "uncool kids" who played minecraft during its craze, and its downfall before its revival, and I still play because it's a blocky game with unlimited possibilities.
even if this doesnt go viral now, historians will watch this in 100 years

Hey hi I have seen you somewhere before!
I started playing minecraft in elementary school when it was still in beta, and I remember coming home from school and playing from the moment I got in the door until the moment I had to go to bed, only taking breaks to eat dinner or watch the latest videos from CaptainSparklez and Yogscast, etc... It was crazy how that game could suck me in and I'd play for six hours with no food or water or bathroom breaks... I just redownloaded the game a couple weeks ago as an adult for some nostalgia and to see how far the games come, and it's truly amazing... While I can't drain as much time into it as I once could, it's still incredible how easy it is for me to log on for an hour before going to sleep, then looking at the clock and realizing it's 2am. Some things never change lol.. thanks for making this video it was cool taking a stroll down memory lane
Oh the joy I felt seeing Chim get mentioned 😀 ChimneySwift was my damn childhood dude, I started watching sometime during the Minecraft Files Season 4 and stayed with him through 6, and absolutely LOVED Attack Of The B Team (series is genuinely awesome watch it) That channel intro and especially the Minecraft files intro(s) will forever be ingrained in my memory
every video keeps getting better
I started playing about a year before they released redstone. I still feel like 1.9 is a "new" version. I'm old now. 😢
Hot damn element animation is a real throwback too Villager news was fire. And slamacow was a damn beautiful part of my childhood too, absolute clever animations PaulSoaresJr is an under appreciated treasure
great video, did you know that other countries have their own like minecraft related history, like there are massive spanish minecraft trends and youtubers and a community that is still around and still tight nit, and all these came from different spanish minecraft smps and lets play series both modded and vanilla. same thing goes for brazil and france and italy
Its crazy to see what my big break from minecraft between 1.2.5 which was the modding heaven for me personally and like 1.17 or so made me miss when it comes to nostalgia Seeing someone talk about all those things I didnt even register while Im thinking that I saw so much
Most 18 year olds online: still 24 because they use their old account
I just want to say I have never watched a video over 45 minutes and the amount of work and research you did had me watch this whole video. Amazing job❤
Wow, thank you for this video. That surely took a lot of work to collect all this info into one massive piece. It was a true pleasure to reminisce about all the things that are history now, to some of us who were there when they took place. I could recognize a lot of these events you've mentioned, but I've also learned few new ones, like the recreation of Harry Potter in Minecraft - that's sick! Nonetheless, a very nostalgic trip for me as well. The first version of Minecraft I had played was Beta 1.7.3, though I had been following one Minecraft youtuber since late Alpha, who also inspired me to give it a go. At the time little did I know that I'd still be playing it, 12 years later...
this is my first time watching a video this long ,,, it made me fall in love with minecraft again, this is gen one of my favorite videos ,,,
I can't watch this because I will cry from nostalgia and my eyes would be blinded by the tears

WOW I still dont Believe that you have not at least hit 100k subs you are probably the most underrated youtuber right now all love always Pleasure when seeing you have uploaded
Bautafel Video, i Love it. I saw myself in a few moments doing this or that as a child. I started playing the game when I was 6 on my dad's PC and it still accompanies me to this day. I haven't had a moment like this in a long time where I have to think about the whole video again and my memories make me happy. Thank you for showing me my memories again. I don't think about it much because I have to work a lot and on days like this when I think about where to put my work and if I see a videos like this that take me back to my childhood, it's perfect. What you have done is worth gold.❤Thank you so much, I hope there are many more videos like this from you ❤
I love yogscast
beauty about minecraft, is you get to tell you own stories, and for java players, choose whatever version of the game you want to play... i play 1.8.9, 1.12.2, and beta 1.7.3
0:50 you’ve forgotten all of the other games he was inspired from!
21:34 it was actually the other way around, the when notch was talking about adding a sky dimension, kingbdogz got the idea of making the aether. Notch was teasing the end dimension.
“when that classic C418 music came on” as subnautica music is in the background lol i love this video so much
this video made me extremely emotional because it made me realize i’ve been playing minecraft for over half my life now :’)
This video is underrated. This amount of work requires so much dedication and knowledge. Keep it up man
The ending literally made me cry. It’s an art to be able to connect a person with the video so much it affects their emotions. It has been a journey. Good job with this incredible video, I would never be able to pull something like that off. Never.❤❤❤❤❤
Made me realize, Im really growing and Minecraft made a REALLY big impact on my life, the way I decide and time i gave out on watching hundreds / thousand of hours of Minecraft
This is without a doubt the most nostalgic Minecraft video i have ever and probably will ever see! Huge respect for the effort you put into this. Technoblade never dies!
I've been playing Minecraft since 2011. When I think back, most of my memories of Minecraft are from 2011 and 2012 though and scarily, popular things that come after those years I consider "new" and "immature". Time has really sped up. I'm old.

Minecraft never dies
I’m so happy that Ish’s 2,000 player civilization video was mentioned at the end!!! I was apart of that event/video and it was genuinely a lot of fun, so awesome of it to be included in a Minecraft history video! ❤️
Hearing so many legends namedropped is so heartwarming and cool dude (interspersed with some of the biggest monsters in minecrafts history)
Thoroughly enjoyed this movie of a minecraft documentary. Touche pitfall.
As someone who has played Minecraft since 2014 (for reference, I'm 15, and this was written on May 5, 2024), I have seen a lot change, and this video is the perfect way of summing it up. For anyone looking through the comments of this video and seeing degrading comments, this video is not a waste of time. The amount of effort that this KZreadr put into this film is beyond terrific, and with only 47.7k subscribers as of writing this, he definitely should receive more credit. I really hope that people realize that he does not have to make this video, and we should appreciate him for doing this to save us from hours of research that we could've had to do if not for him. One of the best videos on the platform, and it should definitely see more attention. Thank you! You have definitely earned my sub!
I just want to add something. A few months after The Yogscast did the dropper video, a Swedish youtube channel called Stamsite did som dropper videos with his friend. The first video he made on the dropper has 12 milion views. That is really impressive because they are speaking swedish through out the whole series. It was also Stamsite who was the first to use the rainbow spiral with the water bottle in the thumbnail. A lot of people copied his thumbnail. It is the firt video to pop up when you search "the dropper"
Amazing video as usual!
As a VERY early minecraft player, the first 30 minutes of this video is so representative of my childhood it brought a tear to my eye. Shadow of Israphel. Mindcrack. Antvenom. Chimneyswift. Skyblock. Hunger Games. Aether. Captain Sparkles parodies. Herobrine. UHC. I remember the day all of these things came out. Only thing I wouldve added was the paulsoaresjr how to survive your first night tutorial, bit his footage was included for minecon :)
1:14:02 I'm not usually a stickler for this stuff but Nintendo 3DS game??? Seriously???
Love that you mentioned ChimneySwift11 Def one of the most under rated Minecraft originals
The fact that the game had the word Order Of The Stone just gives me mcsm nostalgia
Pre-CGTT Initial Test Started on may 10th 2009, according to the omni archive. Not on 13th
2011-2012 is when i started playing this game. My original account is sadly long gone, but my new account has the migrator cape, if that proves anything. This game was a huge part of my childhood. I would, and still do, spend hours on this game just building random stuff. I honestly don't think there will ever be a game that gets anywhere near Minecraft. I also have no idea why i keep coming back to this game
mattbatwings mention!
Can we all agree how underrated this channel is? Great video, as always. You always make the most interesting, best quality skyblock videos. The entire story of skyblock is one of the greatest video of it i ever saw. And I'm saying it playing from relase and always watching most youtube content.
That footage of the enterprise and earth is unsettling to me for the same reason those huge electricity generating wind turbines are unsettling. Just too big
As I recently discovered I begin playing Minecraft in 2012 hard to believe I've been playing this game for over a decade although off and on
I have been playing this game since 2015 along side with Plants vs Zombies and Clash of Clans. These trio will still be the best memories i have ever and will ever have. In this much years a lot of the things happened. I have smiled, laughed and cried all along when some of my life influencers have just passed away, but these 3 games, 3 pieces of memories, of childhood and happiness are still making me strong to thrive, to stand up and to live a wonderful life. I just want to say, thank you. If it were not you, I wouldn't be able to live til this day, thank you very much And I'm also a BSS grinder but tbh it didn't have that much influence to my life like the above games, still a good game to play
i like the new pitfall
20:30 actually it wasnt always used to optimise it, some texture packs required optifine to work back in the day
yogscast music gave me chills a little lol. so many memories connected to that
A video like this was never going to be able to cover everything, but you did a really good job nonetheless
I had no idea the original Minecraft guide handbooks weren't even by Mojang. I still have all of those books in my room including the ultimate secrets guide book :D
thank you for giving me a youtube video to watch as i eat my dinner for 3 days
Survival games is what put me on. I remember sitting there for hours watching survival games bc I was 13 and couldn’t afford a computer game that wasn’t free or on miniclip 😂😂 I found cracked versions and played those until it dropped on console. Thanks for making me feel old now that I’m 25 years old 😂😢
My husband & I started playing MC in 2020. We were stuck in the house taking care of 12 family members with different stages of illness and had to be awake for regular vital signs check-ups. We had heard of minecraft but had never watched anything. I'll never forget the 30am first multiplayer of us huddled in a dirt house with a campfire, breaking one block to see if it's morning and being jumpscared by a spider crawling in 🤣
an ad every 5 mins is ridiculous
beautiful yap sesh 10/10 great job homie
Christ, you smacked me with Nostolgia. Having heard of minecraft in late Jan, playing at a friends house. Minecraft started my KZread addiction upon finding the first videos I'd seen of it from ChimneySwift. Minecraft got me even heavier into trolling through Team Avo (somehow found them through the YT pipeline of FaZe uploads, ninja defuses in particular) I was hooked. I loved trolling in Call of Duty, and I created my gamertag that very day. "GriefRedefined". Storm getting married was crazy. Eventually using my friends account, Kronky9000. Having found AntVenom through iHaz's first SG video, back on my Windows XP laptop, under my covers "late" (11pm). Playing Survivial Games every night for 3 months until I literally melted my internals of my laptop (I'd play under my covers, and my autistic self liked the way the exhaust fan heat would keep my legs warm. Also prevented cool air from getting in. Whoops.) Man. Thank you. Thank for you this trip down memory lane.
underviewed asf. great stuff.
I need a season 3 of story mode, especially with the fact we're almost at Story Mode's 10 year anniversary
It’s so weird how I remember vividly 1.2.1 being the end of classic mc. I stopped playing around like 1.7-1.8 but man it was weird seeing how quickly even mojang caved to the wants of every kid playing the game. It went from weekly updates adding all sorts of stuff to slow churning of lower quality content. 2012 was the best year for mc simply because it was the last time we had what the game was while still having the steamroller of progress moving forward the way it is today.
24:50 i joined the MC community like a month before this update. On a cracked version as i didn't have any money & was scared to ask my dad about buying it. I remember how shook i was when i sprinted for the first time and i realized how horribly slow walking was.
This deserves more attention than it's getting.
w mans for having a decent upload schedule for the scale and quality of these videos
Hrm there's a lot of omissions here from the earlier years, particularly CTM maps which was also hugely popular among many youtubers and players. The genre was also created by Vechs and played by many like Etho, Zisteau, Guude, Bdubs, Xisuma, etc. Legendary was indeed, Legendary. A lot of the technical players/groups are also missing. Barely mentioning DocM etc...
Great video man, loved it.
