Every 6months I have a mouse hunt where I grab a flash light and check under the fridge, oven, dishwasher, chairs and bed for all the toys that have disappeared. The cats then promptly lose everything all over agin, but for a few minutes they’re rich with every toy they’ve ever had

I have similar issues when authors use German words or Places but do it wrong, most recent example is Tomorrow x3 by Gabrielle Zevin (one of my favourite books of the year). "Zweisamkeit’ is the feeling of being alone even when you’re with other people" when it actually just means being with someone else without other people (often in a romantic sense), so pretty much the exact opposite. That's when I think "dear author and editor, please ask a native speaker and don't just use the first definition you can find on Google 🙄). Another book I read put the Black Forest into Bavaria when it isn't (both of course don't change the story massively it can be annoying and takes me out of the story for a bit)

if i recall rightly, most cats can fit into a a space as long as their collarbone fits as that is typically the widest and most solid? body part. their body fat can kind of smoosh around ... its interesting, even as adults my cats shock me with the places they can still fit into. hopefull you're staying safe with the fires - even in southern American we're getting air quality alerts from those fires so i can't imagine how bad it's been for you guys :(

They definitely have small bones so that doesn't bode well for me... thankfully they're not too shy and don't tend to hide lol It's been so bad! We're getting alerts that we are the the top of the scales (11 out of the 10+ scale... and it was 600 this morning on a different scale...) Staying inside as much as possible!

I laughed so hard at the lost springs because I pulled out my couch yesterday and found at least 10 springs under it. Lol.

Cat litters can have more than one papa! So the tuxedo and the Siamese could both owe you kitten support.

If you're looking for more cozy fantasy, I feel like there are a lot of japanese light novels that fit that genre. One of my favorites is Ascendance of a Bookworm! It's about a girl who's obsessed with books that dies and gets reborn into a fantasy world in the body of a very sick child. Early on it is very much no plot just vibes as the main character adjusts to her new life/body and works toward her goal of getting access to books

Yep, I'm Canadian too and the wild fires are awful. At least it's been raining tons this past week. The rain is really helping and I'm happy about that.

We've been getting your smoke all the way in Colorado. But now we're on fire, too. Even though we've been having storms and flooding for several weeks.

I hope you are well, Emily, with all the smoke. Same wishes to everyone affected. In NYC it hit hard yesterday and today (and is all over social media and news). Also, how great that you took mama-cat in a while back. It would be so hard for her right now (small lungs and lots of smoke), if you didn’t step in. Thank you again for doing this.

I've read Good morning, midnight last month and I enjoyed it a lot. I would love more chill apocalyptic books like that.

The Queen of Tearling was one of my all time favourite fantasy series, I loved it so much and I´ve never been so mad about the ending of book series as I´m with this one YEARS later.

Can we just say how fantastic and beautiful Pear (momma) ?!? She’s still nursing her kittens at almost 3 months old ! It’s not an easy adjustment for her going from mostly an outdoor cat to exclusively indoor now - what a lovely cat she is Emily I just love them all and can see how they’ve brought such joy to your life 😊 Also - are you sure that was momma in the video you showed ? I zoomed in and do not see thumbs - maybe it was pears sibling? Haha . Strange But that big black and white cat is definitely dad!!!! Wow

She really surprised me! I was expecting her to neglect them (or eat them) the day they arrived... but nope, she's been such a good mom! I commented that in the pinned comment because I noticed it after uploading! It doesn't look like it's her. The owner did apparently own a few black cats that she neglected so it might be another one. Haven't seen her again though :/

Almost twins! Their little noises are so cute. Mine are not big on meowing either. Charlie only growls when playing and Chunky makes these adorable cooing noises. We'll have to see what they really sound like when they're older!

On the west coast in bc we are okay but a couple fires are now burning due to stupid people our campfire ban is going in tomorrow. I hope your guys area quality is able to improve like us you probably need the rain! And yay for 4 done that's amazing! I just finished parable of the sower and OMG that one is so good!!! I am reading how to lose a time war and then I will be getting to parable of the talents because I cannot wait to see what happens but I am scared at the same time. Love the kitty content but you might have to try and kitty proof some things haha.

my language pet peeve is that people usually think in Brazil we speak spanish, but NO, we speak portuguese! when I read Artemis by Andy Weir (I usually love his books but I hated that one) one of the many things that pissed me was how he clearly didn't research much about Brazil and he used clearly SPANISH sounding first and last names for the brazilian characters, like SancheZ. in portuguese we don't use Z at the end of words and names like in spanish, we use S instead. our last names are like RodrigueS, SoareS, GomeS, LopeS etc.

in The Midnight Library, however, the author clearly researched about Brazil cause it was quite accurate how he wrote about our country...

I actually loved the ending to The Fate of the Tearling! It's so thematically appropriate! I also loved all the sci-fi and horror elements that show up throughout the series, and it is actually on my list to re-read this summer after I read the prequel "Beneath the Keep".

Hoping the wildfires get better soon and please keep us up to date on how you are faring with the fires!

We're getting the smoke from the fires where I live in the U.S. too. I'm getting that red light coming in also. It's eerie. Hopefully that will get better soon. Sending positive thoughts for those who are directly effected. Hopefully everyone who had to evacuate is able to go home soon.

6:35 Im bilingual and I only get French adds when I watch your videos. The algorithm knows 😂 We are getting the smoke here (I’m west of Algonquin Park) but so far it’s not as bad here as it was when the fires were north of us a few years ago. Hoping rain comes soon.

So sorry to hear the smoke has hit your end of the country...we are currently free of it where I live (for the moment anyway), but it was really bad for a while in May, so I feel for you. I haven't read Cabin at the End of the World or seen the movie Knock at the Cabin yet, but one of Paul Tremblay's earlier books, A Headful of Ghosts, is one of my favorite horror books. Family lets a reality show be made about one of their daughters going through an exorcism. This scenario is being recalled by the other daughter as an adult being interviewed by someone writing a book about the event.

Canada having wildfires and heatwaves this bad does not bode well for California. We have the worst wildfires of anywhere in the country every single year and it's terrifying every time. Other places get snow days or bad weather days but California kids get smoke days because the smoke is so bad that there's ash raining down on you when you go outside. I can't imagine how bad the summer is gonna be and I'm so so sorry to everyone who has to deal with it and I'm so worried about us

Cats' joints are different from ours! Also they are super flexible, so as long as they can push their head through an opening - their body can follow. As long as they are healthy and not overweight of course :)

I was one of the minority who really liked the ending of the Tearling trilogy. I get that it wasn't a standard ending, but I liked it!

I’m currently listening to Little Secreta by Jennifer Hillier, really liking the audiobook. It’s kept me listening. Then I’ll be trying to listen to all of S.A Cosbys books since I loved Razorblade Tears and the audio narrator was fantastic!

Where I live in Eastern NC we are getting smoke and gray/cloudy skies and air quality warnings that started yesterday from the fires in Canada. Hope you will be ok! Sending good vibes!

When my kitty and my brother's were babies (they both passed last year :( ) they would crawl under our bedroom doors and squeeze under them for at least a year. It was not good when my brother's cat was the kitten that would come pee under my bed. And my cat if she ever got into my room at night she would knock stuff over on my nightstand because she wanted my attention or crawl all over me in the bed and snore loud her whole life. I wish I would have just let her wake me up all the time. I miss her a lot and my brother's cat.

Maybe it's not just you with Rise and Reign of the Mammals, because I DNFed it after a few chapters. I loved the first book though so I still intend to go back one day.

I play a game where someone named their guild “Le Femmes” which was supposed to be for female players. It bugged me that the article and noun didn’t agree in number and gender. Eventually the guildmaster was made aware of her mistake and changed it to Les Femmes.

I'm so glad you and the cats are okay!! i have had The Fate of the Tearling on my tbr since shortly after i found booktube so i think i just need to spoil myself with some reviews at this point.

I think it’s worth the read!

I liked the end of the Tearling (spoilers) that is the only book I can remember where time travel to fix things before they happen didn't bother me. Usually it makes me feel like I wasted my time on this story, but this time it worked!

I’m so sorry about the wildfires. I live in the U.S. in the state of Virginia which has been affected by the smoke from Canada. The wildfire must be quite extensive.

Just finished The Fate of Tearling. I didn’t hate the end but I wanted more. I wanted to pick a different ending.

As you talked about the kittens being a menace, my cat is walking all over my laptop. She somehow deleted my default printer... I had nothing open even related to printing anything. Cats.

Those wildfires are crazy! I'm in the Boston area and it was pretty bad at the beginning of this week, but it was gray and rainy so we didn't have the same visual intensity. But a coworker of mine lives in New York and her pictures really do look like the apocalypse. But at least people don't seem to be complaining about wearing masks anymore?

I live in Eastern Ontario and last night, I could stare at the sun because it was red and blocked by all the smoke 🤦🏻‍♀️

I get that issue with using the language wrong. I'm german and that definitely happens to me too :) This last week has been so unproductive in terms of reading, since I have to study for an exam next week. This video hopefully motivates me to get things going again :)

Speaking of the fires. I live in Abitibi. My area is fine we just have a lot of smoke too. But otherwise I am fine

If you introduce them slowly it might work! I always said I wouldn't adopt kittens (only older cats or older dogs) because they have too much energy and here I am with 3 XD

I live in Montreal and the light is so weird! With that being said, I have to move on to the most important question: what is the lipstick you are wearing at the beginning? It's gorgeous on you!

EMILY! I can’t stop thinking about the Red Rising exchange the other day….Eo dies! She does not come back to life at any point in the series! They try to keep her vision and her spirit alive because she is the reason for the whole rebellion, but she is not actually physically alive anymore. My husband thinks I am nuts, but I feel like you have been gyped out of a good series because of a misunderstanding! LMAO……

Once in a blue moon in parts of Europe we'd get massive sand fronts blown in from the Sahara that'll turn the sky orange/red; no where near as dangerous as the fires and inhalation risks compared to forest fires, but just seeing the sky so red was surprisingly dreary on one's mental state. Stay safe everyone out there.

The same thing happens when authors want to use spanish in books, there was one who wanted to mention recipes and not only the name but the definition was so wrong! It ruined my experience tbh 😂

It's blocked for now! Pear asks for it (there's a clay litter box down there) so I let her in and out but I don't trust the babies in there yet

My cat loves those mice! Where did you find that big box?? I can’t get those springs, because I have one cat who chews them into bits and eats them. Annoying.
