The Maze Runner Movie Description:
Thomas (Dylan O'Brien), a teenager, arrives in a glade at the center of a giant labyrinth. Like the other youths dumped there before him, he has no memory of his previous life. Thomas quickly becomes part of the group and soon after demonstrates a unique perspective that scores him a promotion to Runner status -- those who patrol the always-changing maze to find an escape route. Together with Teresa (Kaya Scodelario), the only female, Thomas tries to convince his cohorts that he knows a way out.
The Maze Runner is a 2014 American dystopian science fiction film directed by Wes Ball, in his directorial debut, based on James Dashner's 2009 novel of the same name. The film is the first installment in The Maze Runner film series and was produced by Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Wyck Godfrey, Marty Bowen, and Lee Stollman with a screenplay by Noah Oppenheim, Grant Pierce Myers, and T.S. Nowlin. The film stars Dylan O'Brien, Kaya Scodelario, Aml Ameen, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Ki Hong Lee, Will Poulter, and Patricia Clarkson. The story follows sixteen-year-old Thomas, portrayed by O'Brien, who awakens in a rusty elevator with no memory of who he is, only to learn that he has been delivered to the middle of an intricate maze, along with many other boys, who have been trying to find their way out of the ever-changing labyrinth - all while establishing a functioning society in what they call the Glade.
Development of The Maze Runner began in January 2011 when Fox purchased the film rights to Dashner's novel with Gotham Group, Temple Hill Entertainment, TSG Entertainment as producers and Catherine Hardwicke intended to direct. In 2012, Ball was hired to direct the film adaptation after presenting a 3D computer-animated short film titled Ruin with a similar tone and was initially considered for a feature-length adaptation. Principal photography began in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on May 13, 2013, and officially concluded on July 12, 2013.
The Maze Runner was released on September 19, 2014, in the United States by 20th Century Fox. The film received positive reviews, with praise for the performances and tone. Critics considered it to be better than most young adult book-to-film adaptations. The film was first at the box office in its opening weekend, grossing $32.5 million, making it the seventh-highest-grossing debut in September. The film earned over $348 million worldwide at the box office, against its budget of $34 million. A sequel, Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, was released on September 18, 2015, in the United States. A third and final film, Maze Runner: The Death Cure, was released on January 26, 2018.

They just happened to cast actors who kinda look alike and their names start with the same letter. Thomas is named for Thomas Edison. Teresa is named for Mother Teresa. Honestly, I would have preferred if they were siblings. It would remove the more cringe parts of the books.

8:06 with "dark days" Alby is referring to the fact that some died because they killed themselves, after going into a bad place mentally, not able to endure their whole situation. And in the books it's explained how Newt also tried to commit suicide by throwing himself from the entrance walls, but Minho saved his life.

Im listening to the audiobook right now. The grievers in the book are described is if they dont have a true single form. Instead of walking like a crab, they roll around with robot limbs sticking out of every direction and kinda like porcupine spikes poking out everywhere that inject their venon. In fact, the maze has more of an unfathomable feel and size to it. Some paths leading to complete nothingness. Im happy when reaction channels go through this series because all of the films are extremely underrated

14:46 the grievers are described like this in the books: It looked like an experiment gone terribly wrong-something from a nightmare. Part animal, part machine, the Griever rolled and clicked along the stone pathway. Its body resembled a gigantic slug, sparsely covered in hair and glistening with slime, grotesquely pulsating in and out as it breathed. It had no distinguishable head or tail, but front to end it was at least six feet long, four feet thick. Every ten to fifteen seconds, sharp metal spikes popped through its bulbous flesh and the whole creature abruptly curled into a ball and spun forward. Then it would settle, seeming to gather its bearings, the spikes receding back through the moist skin with a sick slurping sound. It did this over and over, traveling just a few feet at a time. But hair and spikes were not the only things protruding from the Griever’s body. Several randomly placed mechanical arms stuck out here and there, each one with a different purpose. A few had bright lights attached to them. Others had long, menacing needles. One had a three-fingered claw that clasped and unclasped for no apparent reason. When the creature rolled, these arms folded and maneuvered to avoid being crushed. When the Griever rolled, it made the metallic whirring sound, like the spinning blade of a saw. The spikes and the arms explained the creepy clicking sounds, metal against stone. But nothing sent chills up and down Thomas’s spine like the haunted, deathly moans that somehow escaped the creature when it sat still, like the sound of dying men on a battlefield. Every time it stopped, the metal arms unfolded and turned this way and that, like a roving robot on an alien planet looking for signs of life. A strong whiff of something burnt stung his nostrils; a sick mixture of overheated engines and charred flesh.

I do a thing where at the beginning of every year I do a deep dive on what movies are coming out and even before wikipedia had a page for it, when I saw the title The Maze Runner - I knew I was buying it on blu-ray. It is a movie I visit every year or so because I’m fond of this specific type of movie. It reminds me of the sci-fi movies from the 70s my dad raised me with like Westworld and Logan’s Run. It was a blast to see somebody else react to it for a change. This was a grwat video!

Thomas Brodie Sangster who played Newt was one of the more entitled actors and more famous than Dylan since he had been an actor since he was a little child. He was that cute little boy in Love Actually, and he also played in Nanny Mc Phee and a lot of other movies before he even was grown up. So there you go.

It always blows me away with how good these movies are!! I remember I read the 1st book when I was younger, Thomas and Theresa could communicate telepathy? I need to revisit it now

When you think about it if Minho hadn’t memorized the right sequence for the last 3 years all of them would have died
