    I don't want to use any SD card , so naturally while recording 120 fps the camera needs Ac adopter? Few people are saying if you don't use ac adopter you can't record 60 or 120 fps. Is it true?

    The more I learn about and think about this camera the more impressed I am. I’ll be getting it in a few days. I think it says a lot about the state of the camera industry today that people are not uniformly blown out of the water with what this camera system has to offer. We have an embarrassment of riches. So many choices at such reasonable prices.

    Awesome! I'm one of those people that just thinks about their G9 as "Can it still shoot high quality 4k? Yup. Is 4k still the standard for commercial gigs? Yup. Then I have no reason to upgrade." I manually focus my shots with cine lenses, I'm happy with my lenses, and I'm still able to deliver high quality stuff. BUT... The G9ii looks so damn good! It's the first camera in awhile that has given me the upgrade itch. Maybe in a year or so when Panny does their normal slash of prices and we can grab the G9II at $1200 or so like they did with the GH6, I'll grab one. Awesome video showing this thing off!

    Been using my new G9ii for just a week and I'm so impressed with the low light quality and IBIS compared to the G9. Shot a Firecrest in low light woodland hand held at 1/125 th second and 4000 ISO and was impressed. Excited to do more.

    Great video!! Honestly if I had the chance I would trade my S5 II for the G9 II lol. It would put a few amazing lenses back into use for me like the 42.5 1.2 and the same with the 25mm 1.2. That would be more useful that full frame at least for me. The same great focus system levels the field. I love your review and work here! Big thumbs up 👍👍👍

    The video quality of the G9II looked superb! I'm feeling some buyer's remorse now after purchasing the GH6. However, I use it strictly in manual mode as a video camera with cine lenses. Therefore, I can console myself about the substandard autofocus. It's still a fricking fantastic camera. TBH, I was more than satisfied with the Olympus EM1 Mark II shooting in Natural with the tweaks you so kindly showed in a past video, Shane.

    I have most Panasonic G/GH and S cameras along with some great lenses, and I think the opposite. I prefer the image quality of the S5 and S1 over the S5II, mainly because of the details rendering and the video engine, and I also prefer the image quality of the GH6 over the G9II, mainly because colors, they are not even close, the GH6 has almost perfect colors in my opinion. Sure the G9II and S5II have better AF and better IBIS but I almost never use these cameras, only when I need continuous AF in video.

    This will be my upgrade as well from gh5, i need a camera that can actually auto focus, the gh5 auto focus is so bad not only did i turn it off in every custom mode i also bought a couple $1000+ Olympus pro lenses with that manual focus clutch, still gives me the ability to auto focus and lock on a point, and if i need to change focus the manual clutch is nice and responsive and linear like an actual manual focus lens.

In the usa at least, you can get the 9mm for about $100 along with the g9ii, and that was the kit I really wanted since I've already got a 12-60 f2.8-f4. Looks like the deal is valid through the beginning of February.

Happy to tell you that the new user interface is as good as the G9’s - I was not particularly impressed when I saw the S5 / G9 II design in videos. The best part about this camera: 4K / C4K video properly downsampled from a 19 MP (in case of 4K) frame. Truely stunning.

    I think the GH6 and the g9ii are similar. The shooting features are identical. The autofocus is better on the g9ii, although I never had an issue with the GH6 with focusing. Apparently, there's no overheating issue on the g9ii, I'd get it, the thing is, those videos can be 1 hour long, depending on how I want to run the workouts. I can't tell the difference in quality from full frame to a crop sensor like this one. Well in good lighting, like in ample sunlight. We'll see when I actually have the camera in my stable.

    This is going to be an expensive 12 months for you. Ahead of release it is easy to to say that you won't need or want the GH6 II (or GH7), but Panny is likely to pack a truckload of new features into the new camera that you "will not expect to use so much" and so the phase detect GH camera, which is highly likely to be here before the end of the year, is going to be another big temptation sooner rather than later :)

    Shane, excellent review as usual. I'm considering a purchase, primarily for video, but I need to future proof myself for a few years. I've viewed countless videos and done my own research on both the Sony FX30 and S5 IIX. Now, listening to you describe the features of the G9II, throws my mix off-balance again (smile). As a propfessional, undoubedly you color grade (CG). But for some one like me who will be using this camera primarily in a non-profit setting with no help for editing, GC, etc, which one , in your opinion, provides better colors out-of-camera. Thanks!

    The s5II and X are pretty similar in the standard picture profiles. I really like the colour science on all of them including the FX30. It comes down to how you shoot. The Panasonic portions are a lot better handheld and the FX30 is a great studio or gimbal camera. Two videos ago I compared the Fx30 to the G9II briefly in the studio. It was my travel rig / new camera day video. See what you think.

    Have you seen any video quality improvement vs gh6. It has in paper 1 stop better noise and dynamic range.

    It's about the same minus the colour science where the GH6 is slightly nicer to my eye. The G9II is like the GH6 with Dynamic Range Boost on, but in all iso settings without that crazy jump to 2000 ISO. It's a great little camera.

    How iq could be about the same when g92 has so much less noise and better dyn range. I shoot almost always with low iso and gh6 has noise and bad dyn range in low iso. Why nobody confirms g92 better video quality or is there any? I just dont want to buy that camera only to test myself and then return it if the iq is the same as everyone says.

    The most annoying thing about panasonic is that their photo hybrid gets more love than video focused hybrid. GH6 is forgotten just like that

    They might market it as a photo hybrid but it’s a video beast. They would have left ProRes and All-Intra out if they wanted just a photo market. I think this is the camera a lot of people were waiting for. The GH6 is still a great camera 📸😊👍

    You didn't compare "equivalent" lenses - that 25mm F1.7 MFT should be compared to a 50mm F3.4 FF.

  • @GeekyNerdyTechy

    @GeekyNerdyTechy

    4 ай бұрын

    F1.7 is F1.7 light not matter the lens. This is something most people don't understand. Stopping down changes the ISO. You're confusing background blur with aperture which is two different things.

  • @gregsullivan7408

    @gregsullivan7408

    4 ай бұрын

    Agreed 100% - F1.7 is equivalent for light intensity (and thus, exposure, for the same ISO), but I think it makes more sense to compare lenses that will produce identical photos, and what I said above holds true. (by "identical" - I mean same framing, same DoF, and very interestingly.....roughly the same amount of noise. This arises because the larger sensor camera will necessarily have to use a higher ISO, which increases noise up to a level broadly similar to the smaller sensor, assuming the two sensors have similar tech.) Of course, the two cameras will have different limits, where there will be no "equivalent" settings available on the other. E.g, if the FF camera is at ISO 100, the required "equivalent" ISO on MFT would be 100/(crop factor squared) = 25, which is more than likely not available - the MFT simply can't make use of that much light, etc etc

    A lot of KZreadrs rave over the Real-Time LUTs. I personally think that this is a fancy fad that people may come to regret several years down the line. Fashions change. A photographer's skills and technique improve along with their ability to edit an image. Why would anybody want to bake in a Look/LUT from the outset and remove options several years down the line? I also own a G9, G9m2 and GH6 so its not as if I'm hating on a feature that I can't have. Also my G9m2 has become my primary camera with the GH6 sitting on a shelf. I ain't ever going back to the old method of focusing. Phased Detection As F''@@k, all the way for me. 🤣
