Welcome to the official KZread channel of Nikol Johnson!💄
My Channel empowers women to show up and be BOLD, FIERCE, and Unapologetic. I talk a lot about this in my book Beauty Reinvented, available through Amazon! It's not just about going gray young; it's about a powerful movement for women to break out and have NO BEAUTY RULES.
➡️ None of what I show on this channel is what “mainstream” KZread makeup tutorials will show you. Instead of telling you to put loads of makeup on (which makes you look like a different person), I want to show you how to “reveal” the beauty that you already have and teach you how to look GREAT while still looking like yourself.
📆 I am so happy to see you each week on Mondays and Thursdays at 10 AM EST.

Me too! I did suffer endometriosis for years. My mother the nurse would say, get used to it. It’s going to happen every month. In college I went to the obgyn on my own and started a regimen of small dose Codeine one or two days a week. I still had the other effects of endometriosis but not the mind numbing pain. This was before doctors operated on us for that. Now I’m just happy to be here enjoying your talks with us and loving life.😊

Thank you so much for this post! We live in a world where kindness gets distorted by “ truth”!! People feel that “truth” entitles them to say anything they want. I guess creators open themselves up to scrutiny but I find it distressing that followers feel it’s acceptable to try and destroy someone’s self image. Everyday life is hard enough. When finding fault in something ( if you must) find a way to say it empathetically and kind. It’s really not that difficult!!!

@@virginiaconway374 Martha is more than likely burdened with additional psychological issues concerning fears about her relevance in the world as an ageing woman, fears of loss, of dying etc. I see these fears as mental illness. Women who stay relevant to society are more concerned about the well being and the love they extend towards others, during the time left. Raquel Welch died at 82 this year, looking like a million bucks.

Enjoy your channel. I have found its nieve to think someone in their 80's looks like that with no help from cosmetic injectibles, surgery etc. Perhaps you were in denial or lala land I've been there too, lol. Many women don't share what they have done & will not tell the truth about it ever for a variety of reasons. It"s none of our business but wish their was more openness about it. I'm an open book about my cosmetic procedures but I have found it's not the norm.

For instance I recently started wearing a little bit of sheen in my eyeshadow! easily 20 years ago I was told never to do that anymore but I'm at the point now mainly because of Nikol that I thought I'm gonna do what I want if you don't like it don't look at it lol what blows me away is the hateful comments she gets on Instagram which I have not been on there I don't get into that but it reminds me of what my mother always used to tell the three girls in our family "jealousy shows!" and as for Martha Stewart here's another quote I am fond of saying if you believed she used skin care to look the way she looks then 0:00 "I have some oceanfront property in Arizona I would like to sell you" :)

I'm 77 years old and I appreciate all the work you do to promote positive aging for women. Personally, I don't care what Martha or anyone else does to themselves. If it makes you feel better, you do you. Where I have an issue is being in the public eye and pretending that you are 82 and still look 50 because you slather on some face cream at night. I don't like being lied to and no one really believes it. Just be real and I'm fine with whatever you choose to do.

You would have to be extremely credulous to believe anyone can look like this at 82. I think it's great she's had a few facelifts, lots of botox, and fillers. That's maintenance, and no need to disclose, although lying is unnecessary. The photoshopping and filters, however, those are truly bad faith, and what people don't realize are really at play. She most certainly looks very different in real life, even with all her procedures.

Exactly! I don't care whether anyone has had procedures, but I do care when they're out hawking a skincare line as the sole reason they look much younger than chronological age. Truth in advertising has gone the way of black/white TV sets. Companies get by with lying by putting a disclaimer up. 😡

I am 75 years old and I don’t care what Martha Stewart says or doesn’t say. Remember, she went to prison, and served time, for being dishonest. Now, if you lied to me, I would be hurt because I have a “personal” relationship with you: I am a subscriber and purchase your products. Continue doing what you are doing: you are respected and admired by many. One of your best qualities is your honesty.

She was set up by the Federal Government. Have you not lied? Do you have any idols? Have you ever lusted, even with your eyes? Do you hate? See where we are going here? Martha Stewart lived in a world where she wouldn't compromise with the elites and their dark, unspeakable deeds. Her new and unlikely business relationships may just be protecting her from those who would rather have her gone. While incarcerated, she used her skills to help women learn basic skills that would help them attain gainful employment after release. Martha Stewart's disclosure about injections is no big deal, just tabloid fodder. She's always grown and eaten a variety of unprocessed foods and sewn the seeds of inner beauty as well as external. But that one mistake... Green Envy is not a good color for any of us🙂

❤Thank you Nikol!!! Yes, sometimes I feel invisible as I turn 60. What hurts is other women being catty, especially my sister. But, I think the most damaging statements have come from my own head, sadly. That's why I love this channel. You have really inspired me to throw out the 20 or so unused palettes of makeup that I have and opt for what works. It's so refreshing. This channel is my safe place. Love to you and everyone here. Hi. Please don't allow ur sister or anyone else to be catty or disrespectful towards u. Please check them and let them know if they want to continue to be in ur presence that it requires sincere love and respect. I am 53 and it's always been a part of my DNA makeup since my teen years to not tolerate disrespect from anyone wanting to be in my presence so either I stop dealing with them or I call them out and they will either coarse correct or remove themselves from my presence. I don't crave the attention or presence of anyone who wants to disrespect me and who lacks true concern for me. It's their loss if they don't choose to abide by my wishes. U deserve respect and sincere love!

Dear, wonderful, beautiful and wise Nikol, I love your makeup tips but adore your philosophy even more! I joined my first 12-Step fellowship in 1990, have been in personal therapy for decades, and just turned 61 a few weeks ago. A few things I have learned over the years are that hurt people hurt people. When haters hate, I always wonder what happened to them to make them like they are. The other thing I have learned that has been extremely helpful in my life is to go where the love is and not where it should be. In other words, don't waste a second of your time on people who are mean and vindictive toward you but spend your time with people who provide you with kindness, support and unconditional love. And don't let negative comments occupy valuable space in your head. Save that for affirmations and happy memories. Last but not least, I think it's our responsibility to try to turn the tide of hate around and be kind and loving to all. Give out genuinely deserved compliments randomly to people you encounter in your daily life, and try to do everything you do, whatever it is, in love. Keep up the fabulous work, my lovely Nikol, you are such a source of truth and light! 😘❤

Hello Nikol! So, in my line of work - analyzing words and body language for truth or deception - she used "squishy language" when she said, "I really sort of practice what I preach." That right there tells me she doesn't. She can't 'sort of' practice what she preaches; she either does or doesn't. Just reading that one line tells you there is more to the story. I am surprised the editor allowed that quote. Always pay attention to the words people say - the hidden truth is in them. Love your videos and your lipsticks!!

I found out that being a model is NOT glamorous at all. Yes, it is fun for a while, but then the "shine" starts to wear off. IMHO, modeling was not a "healthy" life, it was healthy to my bank account, but NOT my body or MIND!! You are so right that the costume changes are exhausting, the travel, and a LOT of the people in the INDUSTRY!! My life was taken oven completely, how much I exercised, how much I ate, what I wore, even off the set. I was a teenager, so I guess they thought I "needed" someone to tell me when to breathe, but one day I said ENOUGH, and walked off. After a lot of "drama," I was free!! I did do some local modeling, and like that because I had control. Modeling is FUN ONLY if YOU maintain full control of your life!!!!

I have been appalled by the negative comments I read on KZread, Facebook, and Instagram. People hide behind their anonymity and spew nasty remarks about people they don't know. You show such positivity and have openly shared your journey. I appreciate all you do in the beauty industry and on your channel. And, yes, I am tired of people in the public eye saying they are doing nothing but skincare (topical serums, moisturizers, and facials). While we know their definition of skincare also includes trips to cosmetic dermatologists and spending thousands of dollars on non-invasive procedures. It's not my concern what anyone chooses to do, but if you speak publicly about your beauty routine, tell the truth. It's fine. I think what bothers people is the misrepresentation. Thank you, Nikol.

You’ve helped make my 70s my best decade…so far! • I’ve no respect for Martha for a variety of reasons and choose to not support her with my money. I’m not surprised she wasn’t forthright. • The ‘joy’ of ‘hate’ is a reflection of ‘modern’ life that is reminiscent of past hedonistic and cruel societies. It did not end well for them. We who don’t engage are healthier and happier. • Onward!

When I turned 70, I'm now 76, I've taken a selfie every year on my b-day and shamelessly promoted myself on FB to all 'friends'. The 1st time I did it I thought 'wow'....not a wrinkle, not blemish, nothing. So of course everyone responds back 'you're so beautiful!, Kathy. Then it dawned on me....my cheapo $35 pm cell has filters!! I don't know anything about photography or cell phones. I made the mention on FB that I wonder if that fantasy world would all come to a screeching halt when I turn 80, that you could push filters only so far? LOL. Love your channel, Nicole and have bought a few of your products. Thanks much for sharing....everything!

As a young woman I looked up to Martha Stewart as a role model. I believed if she could do all this on her own (gardening , cooking, decorating raising a child etc) so could I. The truth is she had a full staff of advisers and employees. After wearing myself out and spending a fortune on her products I realized I was duped or plain naive, a reality check was needed. Although I still admire and follow her, I don’t buy into anything she says she does or doesn’t do to herself. She’s still great at 82. Keep doing you Nikol, you’re one of a kind.

I’m old, 76, but I’m still trying to do my best with my makeup. My hair, unlike yours, is getting very thin & has always been fine, blow away stuff but there is nothing I can do but try to look presentable. Keep doing what you are so good at & ignore the less than truthful people they can’t compare. I have nothing against cosmetic surgery if that’s what people want to do, just wish I could afford it but to lie about it is just plain stupid. Greetings from a very chilly UK 🙂

Nikol, I deleted my Facebook account in 2016 with the political hatred that was a daily occurrence. I managed several very active groups that had nothing to do with politics, one a local small town group of over 1,000 and the other for antiques and community collectibles. I felt like I was babysitting crude and rude adults. So I happily left the drama behind and my social media is limited to Instagram and Pinterest only; makeup, hair, fashion, music, recipes and dogs! Kudos to you for surviving as you've done, with grace and assertiveness. We do need to take a stand against the trolls but at what expense? Take care of you.

Endometriosis surgery was the single best thing that ever happened for my health! And I only got it because I had a large, fast-growing tumor (that tumor turned out to be benign, but they couldn't tell that without removing it. Then while they were in there, my surgeon painstakingly removed all the endo explants). It's shocking how little treatment millions of women get for this life-altering disease of endometriosis. I suspect that the chronic inflammation leads to other health issues on top of the pain, debility, and loss of function, too.

I was a drug rep for many years with a med for endometriosis. Learning than it took many years to get a diagnosis and being called crazy searching for relief is what kept me going . Compassion for OBGYN surgeons to remove all the endometriosis they could see and really listen to the patient is what kept me pushing for insurance coverage etc. It is better these days, but not sure how much better. Keep advocating for yourself or find a helper.

I hear this a lot, that they just SUFFER with this agonizing excruciating s***. I had it in 1978. 22ys old and married. It developed suddenly, had never experienced such pain! Went to a GYN that happened to be Chinese. He immediately knew exactly what to do; a simple, basic everyday D&C in my uterus and it TOTALLY Cured it, no mess. no fuss. I went on to have 3 perfect pregnancies, deliveries and babies, who grew up to be AWESOME people!

Nikol, thank you for being authentic. I would follow someone who is real and shows no fear with showing that side of herself over someone who hides behind a facade because she’s never shown the world her true self. Keep doing what you are doing and stay authentically beautiful!
