Nobod ever comments on Max's editing, but if it wasn't for the unique way Max edita, this channel would not be what it is. He literally makes this channel have the unique feel that it does with Alex's speech always being tight and no pauses, plus the way Alex delivers a quip or missive and then a rapid cut away. Thats the style max delivers.

I worked at a place that used dry ice cleaners. We would always degrease first and pressure wash. It would nearly eliminate splatter onto already cleaned areas. We also degreased and rinsed afterwards. We would go through 6-10 totes of dry ice per week with 3 blasters.

Thank you for having us Alex! It was a * blast * 😂 Dry Ice Blasting is incredibly satisfying to do and watch. One correction I did want to make, the machine ( Karcher IB 7/40 is $24,499 ) not 40k. The air compressor we used is around that price point. Not cheap but a little bit more affordable lol
Doc traveled back to the future to do the intro of Alex' video! Awesome!
Awesome transformation alex i think the frame will not be an issue and get fixed excited for the next video and seeing the suspension and engine finished up
Alex the dry ice is the ticket! An amazing transformation on the frame & underside of the DeLorean! Once you get the frame fixed, the new suspension & brake upgrades this DeLorean will be amazing! About as close to going back in time as you will be able to do! In order to get to Back to the Future speeds consider an LS swap on the DeLorean after you have done all the stock content you can! That would give you a whole new round of amazing content for those of us who would like to see you take it to a higher level!
Such interesting content and excellent production quality. I'm always bummed when the end of a video is coming and chomping at the bit with anticipation for the next video. Thanks so much for doing what you do.
I have done a lot of regular sand blasting, and a little media blasting, but this is the first time I have seen dry ice blasting in action. It looks like it was money well spent because it showed you some problem areas that you can fix before they become a major issue.
Dry Ice Blasting, GREAT SCOTT! 🤯 Also, I was really surprised these guys showed up with a Kärcher, a brand that is very common here in central EU :D.
Even though you're replacing the suspension parts, if you were to clean them to perfection, laser cleaning cleans even better than dry ice. It's perfect for things like those control arms. It removes rust perfectly as well.
I'll admit, I have been busy and not able to watch. Very, VERY satisfying to watch. Just watch it all go away... Very, Very satisfying. Reminds me, I will be doing my own break job this weekend on my car, all 4.... might as well. And I wish we could kill breast cancer forever. No woman should go through that.

I was cringing at this myself! If you intend to reuse the ball joint NEVER smack it with a hammer. Hit the spindle or use the ball joint tool like he used on the spindle to pop it loose if a hammer doesn't do the trick. You can also use the tension of the suspension spring if you put the nut on the spindle and put a jack under the control arm and whack the spindle to pop it loose. This trick works great on G body and S-truck suspensions.
Special thanks to Jason and crew. Those guys rock. Alex the car looks awesome. See you on Halloween.

When I suggested it to you, I was convinced that the results would take your Car back in time! Your results are extraordinary.
Lol , G'luck putting all those washers back on.. I think had DeLorean just used correct length bolts they'd probably be in business still.
Alex, never hit the stud on tie rods or ball joints for removal. Hit the KNUCKLE on the SIDE of the stud and it will shock it loose! First thought is to hit it the direction you want it to go but horizontal impact is what loosens the tapered studs!
@MM_in_Havasu
9 ай бұрын
That's correct, the knuckle will deform enough by hitting it to release the taper shaft easily(for the most part).
@slasher9883
9 ай бұрын
Yes this one of the first things you learn as an apprentice mechanic, never hit the stud of the ball joint (especially if you plan on reusing it) as it will wreck the stud. The double hammer on the knuckle technique almost always works and doesn't damage the stud.
Enjoying this series so much, I've loved DeLoreans since I was little and you restoring this one makes me excited! Plus I had to order your new merch 😂

I liked that you put a license plate between the fiberglass and the flame. I've seen some welding guys use a really neat fabric behind their welding and torching that absorbs 100% of the heat from going through to the other side. I wonder if they make a flexible pad like that so you could save that fiberglass from the heat. I know you didn't hit it with "flame" but you can definitely tell it got quite a bit of "heat" on it.
@ORRadtech
9 ай бұрын
There's a tool called an induction heater that doesn't use flame to heat bolts in sensitive areas. They only run a 2 to 3 hundred dollars which is tremendously less expensive than repairing fire damage. Being in the rust belt I'm surprised he doesn't have one already. Of course he's still using MAP gas instead of a true torch which I find surprising for a former professional mechanic.

Spray your wheel wells and undercoating with amsoil mudslinger it's originally designed for off-roaders so they can clean their undercarriages easily but I found that it works great for the car fender wells and under body of any car and stops mud and stuff from oil sticking to your underside it's almost like putting ceramic coating on the undercoat of your car

I love this series, and I’ve been a subscriber since you were well under 50k. Watching you grow this thing is amazing. It’s not what you do, but I wonder how you’d resto-mod a camper.
It's an amazing transformation, for the price I guess it better be. I think the biggest concern, even after you remove so many vulnerable things, is if it's doing any damage to gaskets/seals and such.
WOW! The before and after hit the spot to clean and expose the big D hidden underbody secrets! Before watching the video, I was split between the process working out like it should and it being an epic fail if the dry ice (coldness) and pressure could have damaged the fiberglass components. I am glad it worked out but not surprised that it did! Alex you are the man! I think you will make the Halloween deadline and be very proud of the final resto!
Alex you need some Speed wrenches. I didn’t think I needed them and I was just lazy but nooo! They saved me so much time doing break lines and getting my motor out of my Taurus.
Dude, wear a respirator mask when you're dry icing, you're breathing in all the garbage that's flying off the car. And make sure the area is well ventilated. Dry ice is frozen carbon dioxide which turns to gas once shot out of the gun and displaces the oxygen around you
