I just ordered the RS coupe two days ago, I was literally at the dealer 15 minutes before the system opened up for ordering the new model. The Norwegian automobil association (NAF) just did a range test on 31 different EV's, the Enyaq RS Coupe was the only car to go beyond the WLTP range. Their test car was listed at 491km WLTP with the selected options, they managed to get it to go 497km at 14.9kwh/100km. The car did 51km after 0% was displayed. They did test it until it actually stopped, then put it on a flatbed rescue vehicle and took it to a charger.

@@omelvold at the risk of repeating myself from other forums... I live in Sweden... It is supposed to be a family car (2 kids and a small dog). We only make 1-3 road trips a year where we’d like a car that has a range of a minimum of 400 kilometers (of course this is different depending on weather, load and driving style etc). What is more important is the range on highway at 110-120kmph . Mostly it will be parked in a garage. I haven’t seen so many tests of range on highways. I am leaning towards the Tesla m3 sr+ because it seems like it has the best range when at highway speeds but I can be wrong? The one more think I like with the Tesla is their infotainment but of course this should not be the deal breaker if I get a better car with worse infotainment system. I guess also the id3/4 and ps2 are also in the same range at higher speeds like that? I apreciate any thoughts so I will finally be able to purchase the damn think haha :) . I have set a budget of 55000Euro. In Sweden we have a climate bonus reduction of 7000Euro when purchising, of course this is taken into consideration when at that price. My backup plan is to maybe buy a 2019-2020 if I can't find a descent car.

Nice video Kris, one of the most intense ones you've done so far! Also, I'm a huge fan of Kople. My parents cabin are between Nesbyen and Valdres, so Kople is the way to go in Hønefoss and Nes i Ådal. Not that I really need to charge on such a "small" distance (250 km), but their cabin has no electricity so I need to give myself a buffer in Nes i Ådal before starting the climb past Hedalen Stavkirke. Now i'm really looking forward to my quartz grey iV80 Sportline, though I went for 20" wheels. The 21" looks awesome, but I believe 20" is a good compromise when it comes to range, costs and looks. :) Keep up the great work!

Nice video as always, Kris, thanks. I'm thinking a little - isn't that range result completely academic? I mean, you basically say in the video the last km:s were very stressful? In the real world, I don't think anyone will drive down past 5% SOC. In fact, I think you would start looking for a charger already at 10% SOC. Because, as it is now - you quite often come to a charger not knowing if it's available, if you have to wait for it, or if it's even working properly (look at Shmee150s latest video with the Taycan...) so you really need a SOC safety buffer. In a an ICE car, you pull into a station basically as soon as the warning light comes on, and you have then realistically 80-120km left in the tank... I don't think that behaviour will change with EV:s. OTOH - thanks for going the extra mile and finding out where the limits are - so we don't have to :)

Well done for making this informative and somewhat scary video...but hang on, lets not get too excited about the apparent excellence of the result. Warm temp.throughout the test. No headlights on. No heater on. No air con. on I suspect. No additional passengers adding weight. No additional heavy luggage No windscreen wiper consumption. No headwind to speak of. No roof rack. New battery pack which hasn't lost any age related capacity yet. Ideal motorway driving conditions. If all of the above criteria had been adverse, I think you may have experienced a very different and more worrying result. Maybe a follow up video under cold and dark winter conditions would be very interesting to compare. I suspect you'd have run out of juice on the motorway or up the creek without a paddle as they say. Don't get me wrong. I like this car a lot and I may even buy one but the considerable increase in cost to buy Enyaq versus say a petrol powered Kodiaq would mean the pay back time even allowing for Kodiaq fuel and road tax costs would likely take years and years. Remember too that electricity for charging isn't free remember, at least not in the UK although road tax is...at the moment is!! Dave in Scotland. Oct.'21.

Interesting video but worrying ,as they try to stop drivers being distracted by banning mobile phone use, it seems nearly all new cars now have an ipad/tablet on the dash which you use to control just about everything that previously had a switch / knob or lever that you would learn where to find in the dark without having to take your eyes off the road. this seems a major backward step for road safety particularly when as this tester did you reach across yourself and use the hand furthest from the display screen. if this doesn't lead to more distracted driver accidents I will be amazed.

Sorry matey, but your e-Niro will not go 450km with an average speed of 100kph, not even close. If it did, it would be one of the best range of ANY EV. You would at best get around 400km, which is pretty good. And this Enyaq is a much larger car than the Niro 😊

These type of cars are mainly made to ride in the city. Because you were all the time on the highway, you were not able to make the most out of the battery. In the city you would've been able to ride more than 500 km, to say the least. Skoda says this car can make up to 520 km, and I really think it is true. I would like to see you driving these cars and testing their real range on their natural habitat - the city :) Keep safe ;)

ENYAQ is now outdated by the competition , at least the big ones and when you having 250 kW fast chargers. The Hyundai / Kia / Genesis plattform comes with a 800V system and a 5 to 80% charging time below 20 min. The Enyaq is above 35 minutes and if you do arrive at 11% charge you will not even get 125 kW, only 100 kW. Yes, the range is not bad considering a real 98 km/h average but a bit away from Tesla Model 3 LR and Y or Ionics. I had thought it would make the 500 km cause the Mach E Long Range had achieved 600 km at 90 km/h. Of cause the Enyaq 80 has a smaller battery 77 kWh then the 88 kWh of the Mach E, but 180 km is a lot more the Mach E achieved in lower temp.

  • @Tafsern

Dude, it's not outdated. It's not as fast, but it's adequate for most people. The 800V system on Kia and Hyundai are still affected by temperature and other things, so it's not all 100 % speed at all conditions. But it's an awesome speed, no doubt about it! :)

The charging speed is somewhat compensated by the Enyaqs efficiency. Ie, the Ioniq5 will have to charge to a higher percentage to be able to travel the same distance. Its still quicker, but not as much as you might first believe when looking at the specs.
