Absolutely beautiful sprint cars. Good job listening and learning!
I go to sprint car races all the time. Where I go the 410 is the big dogs. About 750hp and they are crazy fast. The pro's drive them so hard and fast that the left front wheel is a foot off the ground coming out of corners.

Thought I could drive until I had the opportunity to drive a sprint car. They seem so dodgy at low speed but the faster you go the better they get. Would be bloody awesome to see where the other end of the limits or my limits are.
I love the smell of methanol on a warm summer night. I have an old book from the 70s on building a 600 hp sprint car engine. Times have changed, but there's still nothing better than a buck-snorting sprint car. Thanks from the States.

I love following this channel and look forward to the videos and his progress. You can tell he wants to go faster & in this episode I think that Hit & the loss has given him that little mental push he needed. Kids listen to kids! Hopefully that track is alot friendlier than my local 3/8. Keep it up Brex! Thousands of People are watching and can't wait for you to come into your own on track!

Oh that sound!!🤪
Once went to a World of Outlaws sprint car race. Had never been before, got there as things were just about to get started, and noticed the bleachers were empty at turn 4 of the 1/4 mile oval. All the cars got pushed off to start them and they did a few parade laps. When the green flag dropped, the cars flew around the track and came out of turn 4 sending a wall of dirt into the stands. I, quickly moved to another part of the bleachers to escape the grit attack.
Awesome work Glenn, my favourite channel on KZread.

Sprint Cars are just so friggin cool. You said it was 900HP, was it a 410 then? That's awesome if that's the case, but a little surprising that they wouldn't use something like a 305. They're heaps cheaper to buy and maintain and also heaps more reliable before the motor needs freshening.

Thanks Shano! Glad you’re enjoying it all. I really enjoyed driving this beast. I had thoughts of pursuing it from a racing perspective but I’m told you need a very big cheque book to field and to be competitive in Sprint cars. I am a long time circuit racer, on tarmac, and have had a break from the sport for 25 years, but I will be making a return soon, in the Historic Touring Car category. I’ll be sure to capture it all for the channel. 😊
I had raced stock cars on asphalt for years and go karts on dirt. But the first time I ever drove a sprint car it amazed me how hard it jerks left when you let off the gas fast. Smooth is definitely key.
@Acemechanicalservices
Жыл бұрын
They jerk right when you let off. They’re made to go left with power, that’s why the right rear is so much bigger.
I just booked onto this a few weeks back to do later this year and finding this video has me buzzing!!
best video ever
Man...I would love this
I saw one of these modded to be on the street and it was licensed. Non wing version, but, what a sound even muffled the guy said he lost over 1/3 hp, but still got a thrill of a ride. He had to build a Buddy model for his wife to come along. She really liked it. I’d pee myself and trade my 1/1 1967 mustang to have a streetable model, but, I’m 78+ years young and not many thrills come along, what fun it would be to have one of these cars to go get a burger or pizza. Yahoo, hang it out sideways in the dirt!,
Very cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 👌👌👌
When you finally trust the wing!!! Then it gets better 🤙🏻🤙🏻
I remember going to speedway on Friday nights as a kid, the smell of parafin oil, screaming V8s with light flywheels aah
Outlaws mate!!!
Pa posse baby at the port and grove !
Bucket list
My best friend and I both race on dirt. I race bombers, and he races winged sprint cars. He lost a bet to me and if I won I got to hot lap his car. I was very confident when I got in the car that I would make a good showing. I made a few easy passes around the track to get the feel of the car and then I turned it loose. I knew instantly that I had put more logs on the fire than I should have. The car gained speed like a carrier-launched jet and every nerve in my body went on red alert. I let off it and got it around 1 and 2 and hit it one more time down the backstretch just to see if I could give myself a heart attack. When I pulled into the pits and got out of the car, I stood there shakin like a dog shittin razor blades. Now I am not going to admit that the car scared me, although the brown stain in my fruit of the looms wasn't from a wet pack of cigarettes in my back pocket.
With him liifting on the gas like that and wheeling afterwards is driving me crazy !! Hold er'down mate! Sprint Cars W of Outlaws is ballz to the Wall racing !!
That looks like such a fun rush
Better than any amusement park ride!
my best friend races sprint cars and on out private track he let me race it. people don’t understand how scary but exciting it is.

Yeah look, I’m up for many things, and very confident in driving and going hard on anything that has wheels.. but I don’t think I’d be keen on driving a sprint car, I mean those walls would creep up extremely quickly! But.. I would happily slip one of those engines into my 78 corona 😂
Still on my bucket list to do.
It was great to be along with you as you got more comfortable with sliding and throttle depression. I think you captured 'Having a first go' really well. The cherry on top is that you seem to have a natural flair. I scanned around for 'How much?' Your tutor said he seemed to have a talent for sharing his understanding of the sideways art. I think he's right. Bona fide machine and a quality tutor, it's an attractive proposition.
Great day. You would have to be still smiling. Awesome. You want longer straights and open her up I bet. 👍
Respect
Notice they soaked the "groove" with water for tons of grip after he spun out. That tracked was tacked out after that which would have blown off in 1 5 car hotlap session. Seemed fairly good tho for 1st ever drive in a Sprint Car
Awesome stuff great job on your 13.7 but trying to do that with 20 other cars and concentrating on your own driving is pretty hard well done. I would love to have a go.

@@GlennEverittMasterofMachines Funny Car is totally different animal, far less forgiving. OK, just watched it. I've seen videos of drivers explaining how their cars work, but watching the learning process of a novice driver as a proxy for the viewer, gives the issue far more dimension and involvement. "They're not toys..." lol! Dunno if your run was done in one take, but if so, respect. Hell, if not, respect. @@walteralter9061 , yes, that was my first run, in fact I buttoned off half track as I couldn’t feel it shift into second. Afterward I found out you often don’t feel it, it’s sometimes seemless. I didn’t want to hurt the engine. I was on my way to a full pass, would have pulled the chutes then. They serviced it up for a second pass which we never showed as it shook the tyres that hard at 300ft out that it set the fire bottle off and made a mess everywhere. After the shoot there was talk from the team of putting me in one to compete but I just didn’t have the time to dedicate as I was full time producing the TV show, which was chewing up 100 hours per week.

@Walter Alter , that’s a great idea!
A track I took photos at hosted the World Of Outlaws sprinters a few times back in the late '90s. Fast track, 3/8 mile but wide and high banked and tacky, the WoO guys said they were running Half Mile gearing. The cars went into Turn One so fast, the outside front tire was lifted off the track from the force of the wing side plates, and pulling both fronts off in Turn 4 was quite easy for them. I got pictures of Sammy Swindell and Mark Kinser with the outside wheel well off the ground, and due to how hard it is to keep them in frame and in focus, just missed getting similar shots of Steve Kinser and Danny Lasoski. iirc Mark Kinser had the track record, though I forget the time now it was around 125mph/200kph average
