Such an innocent and iconic theme. Wish I had a time machine!

Hugo Montenegro was a genius. The 1st season theme by Richard Weiss was totally different, more of a romantic sweeping theme. Hugo created the theme that stuck and is still an ear worm over fifty years later.

I remember having a huge crush on Genie watching reruns in the 80's at the babysitter's house. I was 10 years old. Their older kids were annoyed that I wanted to watch it everyday.

That was a pretty cute opening, what color would your smoke be if you were a genie? Whenever you came from your bottle, would it be very thick puffs of smoke to start doing your magic?

When Larry Hagman passed away I was surprised and a little disappointed that people remembered him more for Dallas than for Jeannie

probably because although "I Dream Of Jeannie" is an iconic piece of TV history, I hate to say but any decent actor could have played Major Nelson. It was Barbara Eden and Jeannie that drew in the views and the memories. The show was named after that character. And seeing the beautiful Barbara Eden in her outfit helps draw in the views. It was a decent comedy. I loved watching it after school as a kid. Larry Hagman however helped refined nightime dramas to what they are today. JR Ewing IS Dallas more than any of the other characters on the show. He made it his own, was able to throw away the zaniness of I Dream of Jeannie and turn JR Ewing into another true American cultural icon. He made being the villain an art form, yet a villain many men inspired to be. Those old enough to remember will always remember the summer trying to figure out "who shot JR." It's that type of popularity and charisma that becomes remembered. Last thing to remember is it was syndication that really bought I Dream of Jeannie to be the TV iconic show it is today. In three of the five seasons, Jeannie ranked 26th (1965-66) and 28th (1968-1969). It was an ok show by the viewers but nothing to really write home about. Meanwhile Dallas was either the number 1 or number 2 show in the country for five of its 14 season run, and was ranked in the top 10 in seven of those years and in the top 30 for 10 season. So with all that, it is easy to see why Larry Hagman was more remembered from his Dallas run than I Dream of Jeannie.

Claudio had previously directed several episodes of "THE PATTY DUKE SHOW", when Sidney Sheldon was its head writer. When he was looking for "rotating" directors in the middle of season one, he asked Claudio to be one of them [Hal Cooper was the other]. In time, he asked Guzman to assume the producer's duties, while Sheldon became executive producer.

Too bad this is the version that went into syndication after 2000. It's missing a note in the start of the bridge. Unfortunately Columbia/Sony Pictures didn't give two squats about "I Dream of Jeannie" as there are multiple episodes where they have LOST the master copies and only have chopped up syndication reels to fill the gaps.
