Yes, I have a double fold in my eyelids as well and I have a tiny scar on my left eyelid and I ALWAYS mess up my eyeliner when working around there.

Same! One of my eyes is way, way more hooded than my other, so I learnt to do eyeliner in brown and stayed there, so it’s slightly less noticeable lol

Once I switched to brown liner, I never went back. And since I'm so fair, I do brown mascara too. I did the goth look in high school, but now I'm in my forties😅😅🤪

I actually really liked the more graphic black liner. It looks really nice paired with the soft pink lip and soft brows. Very pretty

I have a double eyelid and a triple eyelid. It's so annoying because my triple eyelid eye feels so small and closed/blind slower than the other 😒

I have one hooded and one double eyelid. There’s literally no trick on the internet that helped me. I can have one thin line for the double and one thick wall on the hooded to be even if my eyes are flexed, if it’s relaxed it’s still uneven. Then I just learn to accept this difference honestly, my mom told me my heritage is half Chinese and half Vietnamese. Half East Asian and half Southeast Asian, hence having both mono and double lids. I thought that sentiment speaks volume so I decided not to change it. I only do eyeshadow, no need for liners.

I have uneven hooded eyes and I’m still practicing how to perfect it, also can’t do eyeliner in the morning cuz it takes way to long for me:(

Hey, don't feel bad about having hooded eyes. Some people refer to them as "bedroom eyes" and guess what? Eva Green and Jennifer Lawrence both have hooded eyes and a lot of people think they're beautiful! You just have to find a makeup look that works for you :)

Me too, I'm 26 now and after 10 years of trying to to the black snatched cateye liner I've finally accepted that look isn't for me. What i worked out by myself is almost what is shown in this video! Start with a small hard brush and eyeshadow that is dark but not quite black. It's SO much easier to get a nice symmetrical look when you can blend, blend, blend. Also so much easier to fix with a q-tip if you went overboard. If you still want to define it, you can do liquid liner on top and use the eyeshadow-liner like a sketch to guide you. Also pro tip for hooded eyes, always do a thinner line of liquid liner than you think you should do. Also, follow the shape of your eye rather than work against it. I promise it makes make up faster, easier, and so much more fun when you stop trying to fight your natural anatomy :)

An ex broke my eye socket and when I did my makeup and it would be uneven (1 eye looks much smaller than the other)I would hate it bc it reminded me of the abuse. It took me forever to be able to look in the mirror at myself and I still struggle making it look even sometimes and I'll have to wash off and start over or go without bc I'm self conscious about it. Ppl used to tell me how pretty my eyes were, now I avoid eye contact most days

I had a bell's palsy a few years ago and my eyelid still kinda droops on one side 😭😭 I've gotten used to applying way more makeup to that side in general so it looks normal but using brown eyeliner is a really good idea! Black eyeliner is so unforgiving especially liquid!! I was getting by by just smoking it out a lot more but I'm gonna try this.

dw man, I'm Asian with a greasy, teary, monolid eye and hooded eye, apparently there's more of us out there

I also have uneven hooded eyes so it makes me happy to see tutorials to deal with this!! I've figured out my own methods over the years for dealing with it but I never see people making tutorials who also have uneven hooded eyes so I never knew how many other people also struggle with the same thing

As someone with extremely hooded eyes: the problem isn't black liner, it's the way you apply it. Always do your wing facing forward and try to keep the wing straight, especially on the top part where it meets the eyelid fold

I learned this in a hard way ngl it took me yearsss jfc its so difficult to even it out most of the time i just gave up

for me liner is just a way to extend your eyelashes so i get the logic behind doing a brown eyeliner with brown/blond hair and not very dark hair when you want a more natural everyday look

The new technique and brown liner is an improvement. But you still looked pretty with the black liner. I didn’t notice the differences in the eyes until it was pointed out.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who prefer to use eyeshadow as an eye liner than actual eye liner. I often fail at drawing with ink cause my eyes are hooded and left has double eyelids so everything just stretches under the brush and it is really annoying.

Yeah, I absolutely suck doing eyeliner, so instead of using this black ink, I've just started using eyeshadows, but for me it's a positive thing because I like to experiment with it's color. I'd sometimes use a very sparkly eyeshadow, green or whatever color goes nicely with my eye makeup. It's a lot of fun. Sometimes I may use a normal eyeliner though, but that's when I'm going for more defined look :0

I wore eyelid tape for like three years to correct my uneven eyelids because I had one monolid and one double lid, so even if I put more eyeliner on one eye it looked weird.

Thank You! I've been wearing brown or bronze eyeliner since high school. I'm a "soft summer" and have deep set eyes with little eyelid showing. I've got to accentuate, rather than overpower with too dark a color. It seems like people believe that using black liner and even mascara brings out the best in your eyes, but I'd say a small portion of people actually look good with pure black liner and mascara.

I have to do this with my eyes. My left eye is bigger than my right which was enhanced when i was in a wreck as a kid. I do liner to help conceal this but have to do my shadow and liner slightly differently on each eye to make them look more similar. Id rather have bulky black liner than noticably different size/shape eyes. Lol the shape of my eyes and my preference in eye makeup makes it difficult. I hate my eyes. Lol

exactlyyy i also tightline the inner part of just one of my eyes that needs it if i want to have thicker eyeliner. but usually for uneven eyelids i think it's easier or at times better to just not do the inner parts. esp if you got double eyelids that basically erase all the work you just did when you blink and open your eyes. gotta find a way to work around these uneven eyelids 😔

Same sorta. I only apply eyeliner on the outer corner because it just hides and transfers if I line my lashes where my hooded eyes touches my lids. I have annoying eyelids where some days there is a full crease and others it’s more hooded

yes this is the one! i have half hooded eyes (very small eyelid space) and they are just not the same shape. so each eye has their own liner thickness and angle to make them look even overall. uneven eyes are more common than you think!

Brown eyeliner is so underrated, I do it because I’m very blonde and my eyelashes are blonde too so it looks more natural for me than black liner. Plus if you mess up it’s less noticeable.

For me I use the eye shadow in the corner and across the bottom of my lids because I’m not good at drawing a long enough wing. So I just create the illusion of fuller lashes with a black eye shadow. Then I may add a line across the bottom of my lids to make the black stand out a little bit. I don’t have hooded eyes but I can relate to one eye throwing you off just because it looks slightly different from the other.
