    Hi Grubby, i am Ginger, although i watch your content for long time i am very new player. Before downloading W3 Champions i only practiced vs AI and was very anxious to play online. I dared to download W3 Champions just to check it out and never expected you to replay me. After i played my last game i checked your twitch and was embrassed as hell. I decided to practice more on focus firing correct units and be more relaxed while playing. I’ll practice more vs AI and maybe on bnet where people would be more on my level i suppose. If i ever come back to W3C again i hope to redeem myself as a worthy player to watch and good opponent for my matchmaking. Thanks for the content and encouring me and many others to try W3 the thanks to bronze league heroes!

    Video idea (taken from Chess): Guess the ELO! Pick a W3Champions game at random, without looking at the ELO of the players. While watching, try to deduce their ELO. I would find it interesting to see what efficiencies or mistakes you pick up on that give you a clue to the level of the player, and how accurate/inaccurate your guesses would be

    Even though I do know the benefits and such to following builds and meta, that will never be me. I will losely follow builds if i see them to a certain point. But I will not care so much for hitting the exact timings, and may make variations just because. Winning is fun sure, but i'd rather do just random stuff for fun. My goal is to make my opponent be second guessing everything because I confuse them.

    it's not too uncommon before going into a competitive landscape to look up a guide on how to play. different strokes, different folks, that's why people be in low ranks, and that's a-okay. but it is remarkable!

  • @daviddavidson1450

    I disagree. There are too many intricacies that you can't learn just by playing. Some mechanics have only been discovered in the last few years even by pros. But even build orders will take a certain number of games to figure out, and you could completely skip the tedium. There's no need to reinvent the wheel unless you enjoy inventing stuff (which is fine, too). Someone who looks up guides for multiplayer games is simply giving up the fun of creativity for the fun in efficiency. It also takes the edge off starter ladder anxiety because you at least have a plan that you know is valid in theory.

  • @GenshinYuppe

    @GenshinYuppe

    13 күн бұрын

    @@daviddavidson1450 still disagree. if you start by copying someone else, you'll not learn what works or not. sure, you'll follow a recipe that technically works, but you won't even have the competence to execute it - it's very likely that as a beginner, there are WAY better beginner tactics than just trying to copying a 300 apm pro. it's like trying to copy someone's downhill mountain bike run before you even learned to stay upright in a bike. plus, you're just optimizing the fun out of the game. if you were earning money i'd get that, but if you're not, you're just sabotaging yourself. Find what the problems are before you try to find solutions for them. in bronze, build orders or optimal creeping are not critical. the absolute bottleneck is attention and multitasking. just find something that works for YOU until it stops working. of course, you might get interested in the game BECAUSE you watched a content creator play it, then well, that's a different story.

  • @daviddavidson1450

    @@GenshinYuppe Grubby himself recently made this viewpoint shift when he started the Bronze series. He used to think nelf players should not AoW creep because it's so technically demanding, but after he's seen them struggle with it, he said even if it's inefficient, it's better to actually do it after all, and it has the benefit of practicing the thing that you're supposed to improve on (because it's the correct way to play). There's no need to pity "guided" players. Optimizing execution of a copied build is fun for them.

    @@daviddavidson1450 if they know about it, no reason not to try. it can be fun. i'm just saying that if you're starting the game, it's better just to play it than watching a bunch of seminars then reading a bible on a game you're not even sure you'll enjoy. having fun comes first, being good comes later and on its own if you like the game (well at least to me). the reason i like watching bronze better than pros is because they're creative and the matches are unpredictable. if they were just "pros, but worse in every way" it would be awful to watch. i'm positive the bronze players have more fun in the game than most pros.
