Thank you for your video. Could you please suggest some websites where good brushes can be bought?

Frankly, I think it is a strange idea to add an additional string around the brush, for exactly the reason the brushmaker gave. And I do not know anyone who does. But respect that you correct your former point of view!

Hi, a friend of mine just came from Japan and he brought me an old and beautiful lacquer box with traditional ink stone (without the ink stick, he mistakenly thought that the stone is actually the ink reservoir) and a small water container with a small hole on top of it and a 4-5 mm tube on the side, and I have no idea how to use it ... Can you enlighten me, I am not familiar with these, I mostly do watercolor or fountain pens drawings? Thanks a lot, Eli

so the question is 'what is a enough good brush that didn't need it' ? how to know if the brush is cheaply made or not when you are not a professionnal ?

Great question. At the end of the day, all brushes don't "need" to be tied up regardless of quality, but the poor quality ones may benefit from it. While not a defining factor for all brushes, price can be a good indicator of the quality of the brush. The more brushes you use, the better you get at judging quality.

I'm a total novice, but I guess if you see that your brush is losing its hairs, it's probably a bad one. But if it doesn't, why should you change it?

@@Gohitsushodostudiomost of my brushes I bought from Daiso, along with many packages of paper and a few inks. I knew they were cheap, but glad I could still get them. I also bought more expensive goat hair brushes from Hobby Lobby. Not sure they are really any better, compared to something hand made professionally. I will try the string thing, as my hairs are currently all over the place with the cheap Daiso ones. 😅
