41 year old here, I went part time in February cause I'm beyond done working 40-60 hrs a week. I have no wife or kids and no debt of any kind with plenty of savings and a decent 401k. My parents are freaking out still about my decision, I'm serious sick of the old school mentality of you can only enjoy life after you turn 62🤬

You mean after you turn 65 lol. I just retired from the air force two months ago and after 20 years…and 17 days. My parents was on my ass about the fact that you can’t retire…but you have to work…but that’s not a real retirement…smh. I just tell everyone I’m looking for a job, when in reality I’m not and I don’t want to for at least six months to a year. Hell I’m even looking at properties overseas and maybe planning to move and enjoy my damn life.

I'm in a similar situation as well except I left my job entirely and moved to another state. Then I was told by a property manager that she wouldn't be able to rent a house to me if I did not have a job even though I had enough cash to pay the lease in full. I told her I was voluntarily unemployed but had money, but it didn't make sense in her system. Which is ridiculous.

This insanity of the “grind” of 40 plus hour work weeks with only two days off is manmade. Even as kids, we had to go to school seven hours a day and had to even bring home homework. It was all designed to train our minds for the hamster wheel.

Seen too many people save, save, save for 'retirement' and either die shortly afterwards as they are worn out or get too ill to enjoy it! We are all being controlled by FEAR , from cradle to grave. Just watch the news and suck in all the FEAR to make you stay at home! Ask yourself why we never see 'good positive news' . Only today matters , do good things for people , that's more rewarding than money. A book I would recommend is 'your erroneous zones' by Wayne Dyer. Tim is right that work/life balance is bs ! There have been 4,733 views to date and 681 likes, so there seems to be a hell of alot of people viewing Tim and listening to some common sense for a change and re assessing their values.

I was "let go" in 2020 from a job where i felt depressed and overworked everyday. Happiest day of my life when that happened! Sometimes, when we feel stuck because fear is the driving factor, the universe gives us the kick in the pants we need to get moving. I am 63, have worked for myself and others over my lifetime, and i gotta say, you are right- work life balance is not real. The push out the door 2 years ago has woken me up to the fact that we have been programmed to be slaves to whoever is controlling this place where we all live-to those that take our hard earned money and do god knows with it. 🤔🙄When you say "no more i choose otherwise!!", the world literally opens up to you and your creative soul is released. Fear keeps most stuck and I get that for sure. Friends keep asking me if I found a job yet- they can't believe I'm doing great and have savings etc.. Truly detaching and getting "deprogrammed" is the prize. Thanks Tim!! I am so grateful to you for bringing up this subject to help others who are deserving to follow their own truths. much love,🙏🏼💜

I had two conversations this year, one was a close friend who would always complain about her job and her boss, another was a person who's job it is to get me a job, I saved gold and silver for a few years and pulled it in over the last few years, so I technically didn't have to work but I'd go to these appointments and one day their office stuffed me around big time, I went off my nut, because I just don't get pushed around now, if I'm in a job and conflict comes, I pack my stuff and literally walk straight out (did it twice last year) So I went into another appointment to cool things down and to be heard instead of ignored, in that conversation I asked the lady if she likes her job? We had a ten minute conversation about not having to put up with crap, she knew that's what I was all about. Just this month both ladies have contacted me to say they took what I said on bored, and quit their jobs. Both were thanking me for 'our talks' one went onto another job, and the other realised she didn't even have to work for a period of time. I think people fear change or if not change, would never dream of risking something that they have right now. Well change will come for you with or without you, but you'll be effected by it. We are programmed into work work work, debt debt debt. None of that fear is living your life, it's destroying it.

I'm disgusted with how bosses say work/life balance when we typically spend 10-12 hours a day to work and commute (the rest you mostly sleep if you're lucky) for 5 out of 7 days. This goes on for the majority of life from graduation until death. Maybe some will live ten healthy years past retirement on miniscule social security to actually enjoy life. But SURE......balance. All this to pay for massive housing expense, bills, car, medical and car insurance, and just survive. No wonder more people are no longer falling for the usual slay at work bs just so you can try to keep up with the latest crap, home, car, or toy.

If you want the freedom to take more time off you'll have to get your money under control. Pay off the little debts that nibble away at your bank account every month. Get to a point where the necessities ( housing, utilities etc) are covered and stick to a budget. Once you get the ball rolling and start making progress you'll be amazed at how much extra cash you have every month. It's easy to live cheaply and have a good time doing it, if you have a plan.

The problem with "work/life balance" is that it assumes work and life are totally separate things. Work is a part of life. The whole phrase just sounds like an attempt at brainwashing you into believing that your life starts when you leave work for the day, and you're somehow not using up "life hours" when you're working.

The Great Resignation has been a breathe of fresh air for me. People used to think I was crazy to want to travel; wanting to pursue my passions. I watched my parents growing up, my dad worked as a manager and put in overtime all the time. He would get to work at 7am and not get home until 9 most nights. At a successful corporate office. He loves cars and he loves fixing them, but he views being a mechanic as shameful work, something that maybe he'd do as a hobby now and after retiring but never as a J.O.B. My parents' lives were nothing but work, work, work, never taking more than a few days vacation and then when they came home they always worked in the yard! Mowing or tending to their garden. It wasn't their passion but their obligation as wealthy landowners. To me, a life like that would be nothing short of a nightmare. There is so much of our society that needs to change for people to stop working as much as we do; automation of manual labor, a HUGE reduction in consumerism and every sector of our lives relating to it, and it all starts in the schools.

Love this, Tim!!!! People will always tell you what they should do based on their worldview, not yours. We have to live a life that is authentic to ourselves. Life is about living, not working. We should enjoy ourselves, and if that means doing something new, do it. Independent thinking is where it's at. Although I will say, whatever puts you into a flow state is what you should be doing for your job. Whatever gets you excited is what your career should be. We all have different gifts and voices, and there is room for us all in this world. It's not about working for the sake of working; it's about living an authentic life. We all need to do what we can to make our life enjoyable. The best lives bleed and blur between the other. Work does not have to be a grind. That's a life they tell us. I am rambling, but it all starts with showing up for yourself, not others. We should all be living our lives now. At 80 or 90, we don't want to sit on the porch and feel regret. Go live your lives the way you see fit. Be happy. Do your own thing. Share your voice. Live your life, not the cookie-cutter one that keeps you trapped. I'll be honest. "They," if there is a "they." It is probably a system that doesn't want you to stop and think and ponder for yourself. "They" want you to stay busy and stressed. The more you can stay busy and distracted, the more you don't think about what matters internally and beyond. It's as if "they" are playing the old "don't look over there, look over here" game. The ones that break free from that path are the ones that find true freedom. I've always felt that so many things in life are meant to distract us from what matters to us as individuals. The system does not want us to question things. They want things taken at face value as truth. Go to school. Go to college. Get a job. Buy a house. Have a family. Compare yourselves to others on social media. Blah, blah, blah. Work-life balance is just another parlor trick that tries to take the focus away from the things that matter to us as individuals, so we don't step off the path and do something better for ourselves. It's all about stepping off that path and onto a new one. Like you are doing, the other path was full of people; it's up to us to find the true path for us. But note, if and when you do that, everyone will tell you not to do it. They will scare you into doing something different. That's just because they are afraid to do it themselves. Go do it!

@mark1542 Quit my job in April 2023. Didn't do anything for 6 months. They got a hold of me wondering if I'd be interested in a promotion. So last Halloween, I got hired back as a manager. Traveling to Japan tomorrow from the USA. Will be there until May. Looking forward to the future instead of being afraid of it.

29 here. My wife and I have 2 kids under 2. I was working 3 jobs to try and afford our home. Last week we just sold and have decided to spend more time as a family living with my inlaws. I couldn't be happier to be able to help with the kids and watch them learn and grow instead of being glued to a laptop for 12 hours a day

Buying a house is fine if you plan to stay in one place. Think of it not like throwing money away (i.e., renting), but putting money in the bank. Since we bought our house in 2010, it has more than doubled in value. After it is paid off, we will have a stable place to live that is also an appreciating asset, completely paid off. Want to live a nomadic lifestyle and rent your house out, letting someone else pay your mortgage? You can do that, too, especially with the crazy rental market we have now. Renting your house can be your main source of income if you are frugal enough. Not too bad.

My boss keeps sending me articles about avoiding burnout. As if, I only need to change my mental state to negate the fact that I work 60 hour weeks because he's an adrenaline junky whom can't plan past that afternoon. And, I work for a "transformational non-profit" . Everyone of these organizations is a corporate structure.

Do your thing bro. I'm inspired. I work a job where I'm required to work 6 days a week. Sometimes I have to go in 2 times in 24 hours. Sometimes I'm up 24 hours straight. I've known guys that were awaiting a year until retirement and just dropped dead. I also know guys who retired and died a year later. There has to be a better way to enjoy this one life that we have. Thanks for your videos. I think like you and I feel bad sometimes for thinking this way smh.

@@stevenresendes5225 after paying for my expenses, like gas, insurance, and setting back for taxes, I bring home about $600 per week working 15-16 hours per week. I don't run a big mowing rig. I have a sedan and a push mower in the trunk. Echo backpack blower, and a combo system trimmer with string trimmer, hedger, edger, tiller, brush cutter, and pole saw attachments. That and a few odds and end hand tools. My overhead is stupid low. I pay $450 a year for $1m liability insurance, and Yardbook is free. I spend $75-100 a week on gas, sharpen my own mower blades, and take care of my gear. I'm not rich by any means, but I make more part time mowing than I did working full time for someone else. It's fairly easy to make a living and not work hard, if you're smart with your money. 🤷‍♂️

I always thought it was funny how people always say balance is the key to life... Well then why the hell do we work for 5 days and off for 2? It should be even balanced, if you work for 5 days you should be off for 5 days that's why our society is all messed up the main part of their life is out of balance big time!!

100% RIGHT ON Tim ! My ex husband made lists of to do things every Saturday ( we both had jobs M-F) AND expected me to WORK to complete that list ! If course he chose his jobs to do from the list. Tried to direct me too. Often I just had to escape somewhere .... .anywhere !! It was ridiculous ! But I was raised that way ,so just went along. Silly /STUPID ME ! Now I'm in my 79th year here on EARTH 🌎 & trying desperately to just have FUN ! Lacking enough financial resources I do what I'd really love to do. Searching for a van or Tiny House place to BE & just ENJOY my "GOLDEN YEARS" ! BLESS you for your WISDOM you're sharing. Hope younger folks pay close attention !

I've been sucked into the whole "self improvement/productivity" mindset for the past few months and I didn't hate it. I feel like it improved my discipline and resilience, while allowing me to stack up some money. However, I already know that the conventional path is not going to be the one of my choice. It always gets problematic when people stop thinking with their own heads, and sometimes I'm guilty of that as well. Today, I booked a vacation. It's gonna be my first trip alone. Until then, I will do my best to find the little adventures that are in front of my doorstep.
