You put too much rice in the lettuce (ssam) The ssam should be eaten at a time. Biting it in half doesn't deliver the mixture taste of the ssam. It should be mouthful. Therefore, you should make it bite-sized by reducing rice in it.

Please don't bite off when you eat ssam(lettuce wrap). You might not enjoy the balance or harmony of ssam taste. Make an ssam like bite size, not like tacos or burritos size. Most of Korean food such as kimbab or bibimbab has balance and harmony of ingridiants.

As for your next destination, I recommend you to visit Bun-Dang or Il-San in Kyoung-Gi provence. It is a satellite city of Seoul so it is similar to and different from Seoul or rural area. It is well organized area and many apartments, trees and parks etc. 😊 While I am searching for infomation about our upcoming trip, your channel has popped up suddenly. We appreciate it a lot because everything is new to us 😊 Before coming to South Korea to make it easier for us to travel & vlog, we had planned our route which is Seoul - Jeonju - Gwangju - Busan - Gyeongju, so there's a bit of modern Korea, history, art and the seaside! It would be so nice to explore other, more rural provinces, but as tourists it's difficult to decide on it in advance - maybe next time? Who knows! Enjoying your content so far guys; you're very open-minded and positive. Keep it up. This is a simple Korean pronunciation tip that will help you more often than not. Brits (and Americans) love their vowels. They make love to their vowels; give them full body massages. Doing so adds syllables to many Korean (also Japanese words). "How many syllables are in the words Tokyo and Kyoto?" Brits/Americans - 3! "Toke-yee-yoh"; "Kee-yoh-tow" Japanese/Koreans - 2! "Dok-yo"; "Gyo-ttdo" "How about Myeongdong?" Brits/Americans - 3 "Mee-yawng-dowung" Japanese/Koreans - 2 "Myung-dong" As opposed to enunciating each vowel, Korean words/syllables are sharp and distinct. Imagine an angry mother calling out to her disobedient child. "Jay! Come! Here!" (3) "Myung! Dong!" (2) "Gwang! Jang!" (2) You get the idea. Funnily enough, the opposite happens when certain English words are said with a Korean accent. Skateboard (2) becomes seu-kay-ee-teu-boh-deu (6.) Also, I'm an American but speak the Seoul dialect. I've been told that people in Gwangju have the most distinct accent/dialect among all South Koreans that I would probably have trouble understanding them. Gwangju also has a tragic history (don't mean to ruin your vibes but google Gwangju 1980 after your travels end).

얼마 전에 처음으로 광주에 가서 떡갈비를 먹어봤는데 떡갈비보다 먼저 주는 저 뼈국이 더 인상 깊었습니다. 서울에서 판매하는 뼈해장국과는 완전히 다른데 이따금씩 생각나는 맛이었어요 ㅎㅎ 솜씨 좋은 광주 분이 서울에 뼈국 식당을 오픈해주시면 좋겠습니다.

If you want to feel the local charm, not the tourist attraction, visit a new city around Seoul too. New cities such as Bundang, Ilsan, Gwanggyo, and Dongtan are easy to get to from Seoul by subway and you can feel the local atmosphere. Among them, I recommend Gwanggyo. If you get off at Gwanggyo Jungang Station on the Shinbundang Line (red), you can meet Gwanggyo with a beautiful lake. The lake walk is good, and various shops and facilities around the lake are good. And the trail called Fox Road is really pretty. If you visit Gwanggyo, I can recommend a place to visit. I hope you have a happy time in Korea!!

We arrived to Busan straight after Gwangju but we were really happy to be there! It showed us a completely different side of Korea - showing more "the real life" in 🇰🇷🙌 There's also a lot of other smaller cities that we could wave explored as well but due to limited time, its impossible to be everywhere or do everything 😬

떡갈비는 돼지고기와 소고기를 섞고 다져서 숯불에 구운것입니다. 소고기가 20퍼센트 정도 들어있습니다. 그리고 스프는 무한 리필입니다. 13년전 광주에서 근무할때 자주가던곳입니다. 소고기 떡갈비는 담양이 유명합니다. 담양은 대나무가 매우 유명한곳으로 곡성과 함께 관광하기 매우 좋습니다. 시간이 잇다면 추천합니다. 솔직히 광주보다 볼거리가 많습니다.

You guys are awesome for going out into the "real" Korea. Your meal looks delicious. If I remember from a Korean friend, there is a proper way to position your rice and soup. I'm not sure if it's true for all Koreans or if it was just his family thing but the bowl of rice must stay in front of you and the bowl of soup must stay on the right side of the rice. I doubt any Koreans would give you a hard time but just departing some knowledge I learned.

You are right that there has to be a proper position of dishes. Rice has to be left and soup has to be right. We every Koreans know well about that. And this is TMI and old story though, when I was a middle school girl, I had to memorize how many Banchan and what kinds of Banchan has to be one table at school. Because it belongs to the Joseon Dynasty tradition. According to person and situation, we had to put the number of Banchan on a table following order. 😅 I don"t remember it well because it was more 30 yrs. 😊😅😅

i am glad you guys are trying some real korean food. i feel like youtube is capturing more modern korean food that has cheese on everything. side dishes are usually unlimited so if you run out of the ones you like feel free to ask for more. you should try korean chinese cuisine which are unique in itself. koreans loves noodles, fish, and stews. all the classic korean dishes are online.

I'm so glad the comment section is being to helpful for these two. It's pretty tough getting around another country when you don't know the language and local customs. By the way, always drink beer with chicken, soju with bbq, rice wine with jeon, and water to recover for the next meal haha

Hello! Your channel was recommended and so far I like how you guys explore and experience Korea. Side dish is complimantry in Korea, so she said she will provide more if you need them. Soft White square side dish is not tofu, it's custard egg. Round white side dish is pickled sliced radish.(some people wrap meat with it) The game with white and black pieces is called "ba-deuk” Omg inside of the rolled bacon cabbage place looks so cute!❤ Love Korea! People respect each other.

hello. Welcome to our hometown, Gwangju. Most restaurants in Gwangju serve a lot of side dishes. In Korea, Gwangju and Jeonju are combined and called Jeolla-do. Jeolla-do is famous for its delicious food and many side dishes. And in Korea, most restaurants provide free refills on side dishes. At the Tteokgalbi restaurant, the lady said that if there weren't enough side dishes, she would bring more. Normally, if you don't have enough side dishes, you bring your own, but since you are foreigners, I think the lady was considerate. And in Korea, when eating ssam, the ssam is wrapped so that it can be eaten in one mouth. The way you wrap the ssam and the way you eat it is up to you. However, there are some things that Korean people always feel sad about. Most foreigners share ssam. There's even a meme about this where Koreans get frustrated when they see foreigners. Ha ha ha ha ha. Gwangju is a place with a history of the May 18 Democratic Uprising. The records of the democratic uprising are registered as World Heritage Records. The street where the event you went to was held is the street where Gwangju citizens fought against the dictatorship to protect Gwangju a long time ago. Now that you’ve been to Yangdong Chicken, I’d like to introduce you to another famous food. One of Jeonju’s specialties is ‘Choco Pie’. You must visit ‘Gungjeon Confectionery’ next time in Gwangju. Be sure to try ‘Butterfly Pie’ and ‘Dinosaur Egg’! Even 40 years later, it is still a food I remember eating when I go to my hometown. This is bread that Koreans always buy and eat when they go to Gwangju. One more famous thing, ‘Lettuce fries’ It is not a food made with fried lettuce, but a fried wrap made by wrapping lettuce with onions or peppers in flavored soy sauce. Can't you imagine? Try it!! Hahaha And Chamisul and other local sojus can be found in Gwangju or Jeolla-do. This is ‘Ipsaeju’. This soju is made using only natural rock water and naturally extracted sweeteners and is free of sugar, sodium, and MSG. This is a good soju with a smooth and slightly bitter taste. And about an hour away from Gwangju, there is a small city called Damyang. If you get a chance, I think it would be a good idea to go there next time. It is a place full of artistic things such as bamboo fields, bamboo rice balls, and slow cities. It is definitely a place where you can feel rest. Damyang Tteokgalbi is more famous than Songjeong’s Tteokgalbi. And there is an old Korean market called Changpyeong Market. Changpyeong Market Gukbap there is also a very, very old restaurant. Gukbap is a food that is difficult for foreigners to encounter. My nephews, who were born in Texas, always go here when they come to Korea. You choose the right place and the right menu. Gwangiu In Joellado is one of the best cities where has very delicious foods. Many people go to Busan and say "there are many delicious foods." I thought so,I seen it in the movies, they put the whole grap of lettuce in the mouth in one bite. Well I'm sure they a learning, how awesome to visit South Korea, I love Asian food. Thank you for sharing this videos,I love the girl laugh 😊.

Closest sound for f -> p or h, and r -> (elided) or a tap sound like the "tt" in American English "butter". You two are adorable and courageous venturing in a totally foreign country!

So, there are hundreds of foods. Even if you live in Korea your whole life, you won't be able to try all the foods. And there is a reason why Korean people like spicy food. When you eat spicy food, your body perceives it as pain. Then, the body releases a hormone called “endorphin”. Endorphins are hormones that make people feel better. This is a scientifically proven fact. It's painful when you eat spicy food, but you feel better after eating it. I look forward to future videos as well. ^^

​@@user-yw8zm9wn7lIf you just take a car to go around the whole country of South Korea, it will take about 8-10 hours, but if you travel to every city and rural area in South Korea, it will take about a month. Of course, the most outstanding attraction in South Korea is the USFK. To be honest, I am very envious of the USFK.

And the fruit stick you see is a very recent trend. It's a Chinese street food popularized in Korea in the past year or so. The shop's often run by Chinese livihg in Korea, and it's super unhealthy. 😂

that leafy wrap you ate is supposed to come with something called samjang. it's really good and i don't know why they served you that without it. i also think the wings places you went to wasn't real korean fried chicken either. you should maybe try some google searches there for good places because the food i saw in this vid was not it.

Nowadays, the Korean won is cheap, so it is very convenient to live in Korea. The people are also very nice!!!!
