You are correct. The subtitles are utterly cr*p and pretty worthless on Ren's tracks. Fun fact: @7:19 when Ren is on the subway train; the advertisements above him are adverts for his tracks 'Jenny & Screech', Freckled Angels' & 'Blind Eyed'. Plus some photo's of himself!

I find the subtitles entertaining, in a slightly stunned way. 😲

So for suggestions on where to go next. I suggest The Tales of Jenny and Screech (full). There is Jenny, Screech, and Violet's tales. Don't do them separate. Make sure you do full reaction. It is storytelling at it's finest. Also, Ren's former band (they broke up when Ren went to Canada for treatment), The Big Push, is sooooo good. Their classic performances are Shot The Sheriff/Road To Zion/Hip Hop (make sure you do version with Ren in red suspenders) or Wade In The Water/Nina Simone/Wade In The Water. His Love Music series is amazing (it's not love songs like I initially though so I avoided) or his Money Game Series. You literally can't go wrong. He has no bad songs....

Thank you for being open. Not only to your own struggles, but also open to hearing the messages Ren weaves into his music. Since you are fairly new to Ren's music, a few little things you might want to know. He will weave previous lines from other older songs into newer songs. Sometimes, to give context or a visual reference to the current music he's rapping / singing. Ren is very well read. He love books, music, movies. He references many books and movies (Animal Farm, Clockwork Orange) to give a few examples. And will cover (with his own spin on it) songs that meant something to him at one point or another. In most of his videos, he links in his comments section the lyrics to the song. Don't be fussed about missing a reference or specific lyric. Sometimes, you have to give a song a few listens for it to sink in. And that's ok. If we RENagades point something out, you might have missed. it's never to criticize. We're pointing out something we think relates to you and your story, or it's an Easter egg for his other songs, or it's simply our own personal favorite bit. With listening to Ren's music, you're in for a ride. Ren has no specific genre of music. So you will hear Rap, EDM, singing, crooning, SKA, blues, metal, reggae, piano, bardcore. And the list goes on. Some are more upbeat and fun, some are emotional, some are dark. But they each have a message in them. ❤. I've subscribed to your channel. I came for a new RENagade and am staying for the person you are. I'm looking forward to watching you explore Ren's music. Also... definitely watch REN'S 1 million sub video. This will help you get to know him reallllyy quick.

Nice to see you picked Diazepam. Ren has used writing and music to help him through some of his darkest days and in turn, help us get through ours. This song is from his album Demos Volume 2, which is literally etched in my soul… Thank you for being so open about how you relate to the music. I feel you. It can help so much to find discussions where you can share your experiences & where you can read what other people are going through. Even after 20 years of therapy, I continue to wrestle with the very unhelpful thoughts that I'm just "lazy" or "too sensitive" even at the same time as I also know that I'm broken (and have been working very very hard in treatment to see improvement), not lazy or "sensitive" (sensitive in the way it's used derogatorily, to talk about someone who can't take any criticism or whatever). It helps to read other people's experiences, and be reminded that pretty much anyone out there struggling with mental health issues (or any kind of "invisible illness," really) is dealing with the same things you are. Not that we want other people to be dealing with this, of course. But they're *there* and hearing about it can help to bring my thoughts down to less-harmful assessments of myself. I know you've only seen 3 Ren songs so far, but if you're enjoying Sublime, you might really want to head over to Ren's old band's channel, The Big Push, and look for the thumbnail that shows Ren in red suspenders, for "I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop." The Big Push was wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy more than a cover band, however some of the most beloved TBP videos are these cover mashups they did while busking on the streets of Brighton. They (and Ren on his own) have a number of different versions of "I Shot the Sheriff" and any one of them would qualify as an amazing performance, except that the Red Suspenders Ren version exists. I *promise* you, it's something special. And it's a great introduction to the band, even though it's a cover rather than one of their originals. Ren was the frontman and mostly sang lead, but they're all great singers and they traded lead vocals around somewhat. Romain was the lead guitarist, but of course he steps back and gives Ren lead too. Gorran was the bassist, but sometimes he played acoustic guitar (often when he was the singing) and handed Ren the bass. Because yeah, Ren plays bass too. We (most of us anyway) don't know much about the drummer, Glenn Chambers, because he joined later & I don't believe I've seen him do any singing... yeah, before they found Glenn, Ren played drums when it was necessary. You'll hear that Sting/reggae tone & delivery in lots of Ren's music. Other options to watch next that feature it would be Ren's recent "Back On 74/Message In A Bottle" video (MIAB being a Police song), or way back to early Big Push stuff, the video they did for "Englishman In New York" (a solo Sting song)... or find the video on Ren's channel of him & Sam Tompkins (they're amazing together) busking in the streets of Brighton doing "No Diggity/Walking On The Moon" (WOtM being a Police song). Hell, or jump over to Ren's hip hop track "Murderer." The hook is one of the most persistant brain worms I've ever run across, lol. Glad you enjoyed Diazepam! It's so layered... the lyrics are amazing, Ren's voice is amazing, the guitar is amazing, the production is super cool, the video's captivating... if you want MORE of the heavy emotion autobiographical music, Chalk Outlines (Live) is a brilliant performance that showcases Ren's voice & introduces you to another fan-favourite collaboration artist, Chinchilla, & *her* voice.

Yep, the closed captioning is crap. Don't bother. And once you hear a few songs from Ren, you won't even notice the accent. I'm American, and don't even notice it anymore. I just found your channel tonight. And I definitely subscribed. Pretty sure you're a RENegade now :D Ren also loves Sublime (as do I). He has a video called Mackay, where he is wearing a Sublime sweatshirt. I'm not joking when I say I haven't heard a Ren song that I didn't like. First time in my 54 years. Even my favorite bands, there would be a few tunes that I was like eh. But not with Ren. I'm making my first trip out of the country, by myself, to go to Secret Garden Party festival, because Ren "may" be performing. Sublime is a great favorite if Ren's also. In fact he was wearing a sublime sweatshirt that he got for his 33 birthday last year, when he filmed Mackay. Ren says he is an addict, and he had a partucularly hard time with Valium (diazepram) when they prescribed it. He was anxious abd deoressed, but Lyme disease was destroying his brain and body. Valium just made everything worse. He doesn't drink or do drugs that he would react to. In fact, he stopped smoking pot because he felt it was effecting his productivity. He wants to be fully alive after so long disabled

Your awesome.💐😁Sublime is one of Ren's numerous musical inspirations. Many people hear Reggae in a lot of his music. The worst thing about Diazepeam (Valium) Xanax, Klonopin (all same family) is that it's very addictive and getting off them is really hard. Many side effects for many people. It definitely numbs many. He was given a lot of meds because of misdiagnoses that really messed him up. I live in Asheville NC. A more liberal city. Mental health stigma is not as bad here or in the Triangle. (My daughter is a psychologist and works at Duke). So it's a little better here than in the outskirts. Gen Z is having a huge problem with depression and anxiety. Hell I'm Gen X and it's rampant in this one too.

After being on diazepam for extreme panic attacks before going to the dentist, I can safely say this is how I felt. 😅 the headache on the comedown… oof. Most sleep I’ve ever had.

I'm sorry to hear you suffer from panic attacks also 😭. I had one so bad I'm sure it gave me PTSD and I was afraid to leave the house for fear of a panic attack. Im on a good combo of meds now and its SO much better. Knowing what its like to need meds for that type of thing made this song hit really hard. Ren is amazing and I cant wait to React to more of his music.

@@dethrowegamer1715 sorry to hear you do too, it’s completely disabling, I don’t drive, I’ve tried by the panic attacks alone beforehand are enough to keep me from driving, I rarely travel because other symptoms appear and I don’t go out in public places on weekends or holidays, it’s too much. I really hope the meds are helping you, enjoy more of Rens music :)
