I did not expect to find this so far out in the forest exploring NH

Ойын-сауық

The deserted & overgrown colonial lands of New England hide many surprises and that is what I am out looking for . I went for a long hike exploring what would have been huge farms back in the 1700s and followed one rock wall for over a mile. I am looking for cellar holes, foundations, improved lands and wagon trails . Anything that shows the signs of people living out here hundreds of years ago. Reading the land in this section of forest is difficult because of its condition but there are many stone walls, so somebody was living and farming out here. With all the history in New England there is just so much to explore and finding something awesome is the goal. And that we did ! I found a stone bridge that has got to be from the colonial days. Large rock walls on either side of this river with shoulder cart path on either side. the only problem is that 100 feet in either direction it disappears and there is nothing to follow. So the history mystery will continue and we will search further soon, but a great find from centuries ago.

Charlie I'm going to agree with you on your point that people such as myself will never get the perspective of experiencing that without being there. But I certainly want to thank you because through your eyes it's pretty close to being there. I'm definitely decades old and I'm able to live vicariously through you. From Ohio.

Wow this place is so intriguing! That bridge was a pretty solid build for such a brook. I can't help but think they wouldn't have made it this large and generously wide if there wasn't traffic there. And since the paths are erased, it must be way old. Worth exploring for sure! Great video!

When an endless wall branches into a tri-form, wall, then crosses a stream, at a Massive stone bridge, continues onward, even going under the brook, & connects all of the New England States together; yet still can't imagine how millions of Settlers spent centuries building these, just to keep the cows in; (only to have a trickle brook, wash away their 10 TON stone bridges? 🤷‍♂️Liked this video! Yes more walls please! 😊

After every trip into the woodlands, I would strip down in the garage and toss everything I was wearing into the washer as hot as I could get it...then, shower time... occasionally I would have to get a match a using the heat, and applying the hot tip to the little hitchhiker....They would pull out and try to get away... My wife would look at my backside and help me with removing any I couldn't reach.... once in a great while I would find one I had somehow missed....I hate the little so and so's...🤬 Anyway! Thanks for letting me share your adventures..... You have a good team with Dame and Wayne.... Stay safe and Be Blessed 😎 Glad I subbed you....👍

It's amazing how the path is there then it's not. A Colonial bridge out in the middle of no where.. The wilderness just took over the path. Very interesting Not Thursday Video. Thanks for the home Charlie 😊

I wonder if there was a mine or a granite quarry out there that necessitated such a solid bridge

It would be nice to see what lidar could tell you about the ground you’re looking at. I know it would really help me on my property here in Central Florida. I know a little about the history but there’s some unknowns too.

Another great hike, Charlie! Love how you wander around and find cool things. Question: at 13:55 and 14:07, there are two red blazes on two different trees by the river and bridge. In my hiking experience, those are usually trail markers. Are those for trails in the area you were in?
