A 23 year old with Marco's freakish watch knowledge is very rare, if not unique. It has proven to be a huge asset to LB as his sales numbers testify. Knowledge is essentially free and his co workers can also educate themselves if they so wish. Not sure formal sales training would be beneficial to the team at this point, but if they did decide to go down that route the first thing they would be taught is to know everything about the product you are selling. That's exactly what Marco has done and why he will continue to be successful in this industry.

Polished Patek, then not Polished, do not polish it, then you might tell your customers it's not polished. Really?!

Dave had life threatening health issues and the stresses of live at LB would have done him no favours in the long run. As I understand it, Peter left of his own accord because he wanted a larger salary to reflect the fact he was an authenticator/watch maker as well as a salesman. Sabina, Chris and Nick came from different backgrounds and never came across as killer salespeople. None of these departure means there is no room for additions in sales. All business can only grow through the efforts of their sales staff. The difficult part is getting the right people for the unique LB culture.

@@auxmike718 I agree it was rough on Dave. He was working on deals whilst on holiday and when he was recovering from his stroke which speaks volumes about his commitment and desire to succeed. Chris was given the Tudor in recognition of his "machine gun" work ethic, moving across the country to join the team, helping Adrian with buying before Marco joined etc. Its a ruthless environment and none of those attributes means he was an outstanding sales person. Both him and Nick seemed to focus on the lower end brands like Tudor and Omega, whereas Kevin for example, is happy to try and sell high end Rolexes, APs and RMs despite his relative inexperience. Much higher margin on the higher end pieces. It seems harsh but its a numbers game at the end of the day, especially in a depressed market.

I understand times are tough and people will be fired. My thing is the channel is transparent on almost everything else but not even a thank you for you service to LB , we can still work together, you can always use our inventory to buy wholesale etc.

Ive actually been saying for years they need to show more jewelry so its that not obvious to them. Plus i think they are more worried about their fake Rolex AD video getting caught and employee turnover. Grey market is dead so jewelry will probably be a bigger focus for them

@@BillyJeans1993 the funny thing is Alex called us jewelers crooks in that miami video but lots of jewelers actually work very hard and long hours.. I hand carve waxes like the old school way. We cast the gold or silver.. We repair jewelry. We polish it. Were hands on and sometimes work crazy crazy hours. What does Alex do other than answer messages and the phone? Hes not a watchmaker. He doesn't do jewelry or anything custom. Just a glorified salesperson. Time to pivot for them

LB used external watchmakers before Peter arrived and there is nothing to stop them doing so again. In an ideal world they most likely would have kept him, but it did seem a bit of a luxury to retain his specialist skillset in a depressed market given the overall size of the organisation tbh. Their need for out and out killer salespeople is simply greater at this point in time.
