Im from Mumbai, born & bought up here.. At 12 midnight i met with an accident while i had just left from work. I suffered 3 major fractures, my brother was called by my colleagues.. While going to d hospital in a cab, i was seated next to the driver , my brother & 1 of my colleague were seated at the back seat. I was in immense pain & almost unconscious, thats when a man on his bike almost followed us & overtook our car & asked them where they were takin me & what happened to me. My brother answered she is my sis & met with an accident, so takin her to the hospital, he came to me & confirmed the same & then left.. Proud to be a Mumbaikar

I'm born and brought up in Mumbai, and I think incorrect to claim entire Mumbai totally safe for women. It's about the area you are in. Areas like Powai, Mindspace are definitely safe, but Mumbai city has its share of shady areas where even men would feel unsafe.

True. Mumbai may be safer than say Delhi. But part of the reason is because it is so crowded even at 2 am. The year round humid weather makes sure that staying indoors is not very comforting. The weather also makes a difference.

Mumbai was able to be this beacasue of some high value police officers who are iconic for their decisions. Mumbai was known for underworld gang war like Dawood Ibrahim form late 1970s to 1980s till 1993 Bombay blasts even after this incidents city is still safe. Something which Delhi police always lack, even I heard one thing that Delhi police is also notorious for bribery.

The policeman's opinion was not off putting. - in beginning itself Mumbai or in Maharashtra - there are no major restrictions. But when women do not consider the problems or evil part... it is the problem. Anyone who is telling you to mind your own step - is not always discouraging you.

And at the same point men who intent to do some bad thing they get alert that police is nearby. We cannot do that . Plus the difference between delhi and mumbai is many people come to mumbai for work so they really dont have time for this shit 😅

I being a Mumbaikar can point out few reason … 1.law n order /Mumbai police 2.Maratha culture with ingrained empowerment for women (don’t mess with a marathi women else public dhulai is assured😂) 3.fortunately Mumbai doesn’t share border with haryana or Uttar Pradesh but delhi does share the border with all these states ,it is also close to Bihar n sadly some of the people from these states don’t abide by law( my parents migrated from Bihar to mumbai so me too have roots from Bihar but truth is truth😢) 4.there is something special about Mumbai..have anyone noticed it? A melting pot of culture ,highly diverse population, glamour, magical city living up to its name ‘sapno ka shahar’.here people mind their own business and abide by law largely..once u live in Mumbai for long , then other metro cities in india (also abroad as i m in abroad currently ) will feel pretty boring .

It's actually good and bad both. Take local trains for example. Fights keep happening every now and then between regular people but most of the time people just say sorry to each other and move on. Like bruh they are already late for their work so they not gonna waste time fighting over petty things. And when they are going home from work, they are too tired to fight anyway. So most of mumbaikars just avoid fights. They have too much of responsibility on their shoulders. Second from what I've experienced from my family, neighbourhood and other maharashtrians is that we abide law but not out of fear. We do it because of "log kya kahenge. Izzat chali jayegi agar police Ghar pe inquiry karne aayi toh". So most of us just abide law to avoid unnecessary troubles 😂😂 And majority of mainstream Mumbai is safe for women. Obviously if you go into the deeper parts and streets, then it gets dangerous but still.

When you summed up your video, one very important aspect of Mumbai safety you missed which is the mind set of Mumbai men. Here majority of men have the mindset that women are equal to them and do not see them as objects. Thanks to their upbringing which teaches them to respect women indiviuality.

Maharashtra boasts a rich cultural heritage and a long history of women empowerment. The people are sweet and welcoming, and the state's inclusive nature is evident in its diverse population, with individuals from all across the country calling Maharashtra their home. This acceptance and cultural richness make Maharashtra a unique and vibrant place to be. If you go back in history Maharashtrians were formed the major chunk of the first set of liberal thinkers. This video makes me immensely proud.

The good memories I have are all that moments that I have spent at night, out on the streets of my small town in Vikhroli or even the main Mumbai. I remember one night the women in our building were feeling this urge to just go out on a long drive, so there we went with the car of one of Aunts and we spend almost the whole night out. Since I am a daughter of a policeman and they were the wives of other police uncles, we even got to use washrooms for the night at police station. But even if we weren't related in that kind I am damn.sure they would have let us use the washrooms anyways. We started our journey back from Marines, exploring VT and having icecreams, to back to our homes by around 4am lol. It was fun.

Mumbai is safe because Mumbaikar mind there own business. Like literally here people do not have time to stare at anyone… i am not saying that there is no unsafe place. Yes there are but when you go in toooo extreme. The major part of mumbai is very safe.

7:15 Strongly disagree. For people commenting about the "offputting" statement: Parents ki baat maanni chahiye in general is fine but that's not the permanent solution. I think that's what she was trying to convey when she asked "kuch ajeeb nahi hai?" Obviously, the world isn't an ideal place where if we have some rights on paper it will be IRL too. So, as a precaution "for the time being", we can avoid being out late at night for our own safety which is not always possible. So, a more effective solution would be to raise your kids right, be it a girl or a boy. Jaise ki respectfully taking no for an answer, not using girl empowerment rights to abuse men and taking away from those who actually need those rights. And those that have already grown up, live and let live. It's very easy. Please try

This is fine for a show. But my definition of feeling liberated is not venturing out at 2 am (man or woman), unless it is an emergency. Simple.

Just being out at 2 am does not define being "liberated" In Mumbai people go out for dinners, movies, parties even work late at night. If you are not aware, street food stalls are OPEN till 3 or 4 am. restaurants till 2 am. People who work in export companies, movie industries work till 3 am and then go home in Public transport. Families, singles all love to take a walk or run at Marine Drive / Juhu Beach after midnight. its a matter of pride that none of them are concerned about safety. all this does not mean "Liberated" it means in Mumbai nobody needs to worry about what time they are out. be it for whatever reason emergency or not.

Off putting ?? Mam, the police wala is right. Listen to your parents and keep them informed. If anything happens they are the first to rush to you. Don't take your parent's love for granted. My mom and dad shout at me whenever I'm late at night. But behind that, I know how much care is there. Let them shout, But I do inform them where I am, how I late I will be, with friends/colleagues, having party/whatever, etc.

cops are really friendly here. they dont pose themselves as a threat to common citizens. I have "friends" who are cops. one of them is such a nice guy, he brings me organic bananas and home made aam papad from his village home. he makes video calls from his village and introduces to his family and his plantations around his home. since I stay close to a police training camp in Mumbai, ive meet a lot of women who are wives of cops. such sweet women, they invite us over for Ganpati and Diwali. without a doubt Mumbai is the most friendly, safe and livable place on this planet.

I think it has a lot to do with ideology of who actually ruled these areas in the past. We all are well aware of how Mahrana Pratap jee treated people who treated women badly and we are also aware about Mughal's ideology who rules Delhi so its very obvious.
