Hi! Pro tip: we do this in the salon all the time. Take your hair back into a perfectly smooth ponytail at the nape of your neck, down low. Instead of using a tie, use your fingers, holding the hair as flat as possible to the head. Decide your length. Cut straight across. Make sure the cut is as clean and straight as possible. Then let the hair go. You now have a new haircut! Clean up any areas that are wonky, normally behind the ears. It helps to have a second person help make the cut, so the left side isn't longer. It helps cutting from left to right..unless you're going for an asymmetrical bob. This is the easiest way to do it. The sides will be slightly longer than the back. That can easily be adjusted. I was taught this method back in the 90s, and have used it throughout my life as a cosmetologist. You did a beautiful job! It was just too difficult, but it is a difficult haircut! It turned out really pretty.

I find looking into the small mirror to look at your back on the reflection of bigger mirror is much easier. Hey, I'm your fellow impulsive friend, and just did my impulsive French bob this morning from my collar bone length hair because I'm too scared to go salon due to new variant pandemic virus. And I'm pretty fed up with high maintenance hair. Urghhhh By the way I strongly suggest you to watch the 'bob haircut in 10 minutes' video of Sanja Carica Karasman. I didn't get very straight line but at least it doesn't curl outward and look pretty acceptable. All the best
