I Cooked with Movie Theater POPCORN Butter
I distinctly remember the day I learned that the popcorn butter at movie theaters was “self serve”. I would completely drown the bag of popcorn with the butter - there’s something about that flavor that can’t be beat. Granted this was when I was about 12 years old and the term “calorie” and “high blood pressure” had not hit my radar yet.
I also distinctly remember the day I learned that popcorn butter isn’t actually butter, which was only a few weeks ago. It’s essentially just flavored oil, but either way I needed to see if it was worth cooking with!

Used to work at a movie theater and, fun fact, that "popcorn smell" isn't actually from the butter. It's from the salt we season it with. It actually says on the box, "Creates a crowd attracting aroma".

On Sunday, I made my own Chex Mix. I substituted movie butter oil for butter. Great minds think alike, I guess. It turned out to be a very good Chex mix. It smelled excellent, but the taste wasn't that noticeable. Next, I plan to try making spicey seasoned peanuts as well as candied peanuts with the oil.

At the movie theatre chain that I used to work at (cineplex), the butter that you pay the employee to put on it, and the stuff that you put on yourself for free, we’re completely different. The stuff behind the counter is actual butter
@monroerobbins7551

…I knew it! I’ve been to a couple of cinemas, different kinds, and there was some I liked more. Cineplex was one of them. I didn’t know why I liked their popcorn more, and I’ve always tried recreating it at home (yes, I like popcorn). So the fact that it’s actual butter AND movie butter? It makes so much sense
Always amused me how lobster is a luxury item, when a few generations ago it was the opposite.

Absolutely love that you are the wings with blue cheese. I live in buffalo and we all know that’s the only thing you dip your wings in
Yeah, the one I used to buy was basically canola oil with coloring, BUT if you grind down Kosher salt to a fine consistency, it tastes just like butter.

i think you should have heated some of the butter and used it as a dip or a coating for the foods after they were cooked. it seemed that the flavor lessens significantly while cooking so maybe on after would be better. would make sense too otherwise they wouldn't have it on the side for extra at movie theater
drum part of the chicken taste great and your second favourite obviously ‘the steak’ of course!!! Great video Sir but i couldn’t stop watching your last video about the’Lechon’
amazing video, that food looked pretty nice!
You should've mixed the unheated popcorn butter with a dry rub like lemon pepper or something, then put the hot wings in the mix and tossed it. The flavor might have come through more. Still a great episode
I thought it was a horror movie at first because I saw a crab you were tearing it apart also really cool video and I'm first love you Max.
But you are a good cook and I get some pretty good advice from you so I do appreciate you making these videos. It's interesting, cooking with popcorn butter.
I don’t think anything is more audibly satisfying as the sound of something deep frying 🔥😭

I can buy that at my local Walmart. I bought it once. It does taste better! The bottle lasts forever! I think I had it for 2 years. Oh and drums 🥁 100%!
I think some seafood content would be really dope, love all your content max
Bro his videos are the best
All of the food looks really good, especiallythe steak! I worked at a movie theater years ago. That oil is stored in a big bag that rests in a box. The box sits inside of a warmer under the counter. It's heavy as hell too lol. The arguments that I used to have with my dad about movie theater popcorn "butter". He'll get a kick out of this video 😆.

Well, now I desperately need chicken wings tutorial from you 🧐
Ribeye mid rare is your second favorite. Or at least those are my two favorite!
You're so calm✨
I was curious if this was going to work at all I really thought he'd taste it in the lobster or the steak the most.
we all know what guga would say Butter makes everything better
Da king is back baby he neva miss
The thing I’m curious about is what would had it tasted like if you used popping oil instead of topping oil. For theater popcorn you use both.
* lists ingredients * "I don't know what they put into this..."
I’m betting clarified or brown butter would’ve been way better in taste and health 😂
He did this whole experiment, with different foods cooked different ways. Just to basically end up with food that tastes the same it always does!!!😂 Great idea, Amazing idea actually. I love and eat popcorn like it's crack, the butter too!! But next time if you do a part 2, you have to use it to make a dipping sauce or something. So you can see if you make something that tastes like popcorn 🍿 or better (if that's even possible!!! 😂)
ayo, he got some sort of deal wiht guga that they bring out the same videos xD love it
I am really surprised at the results.
I think the problem is that you didn’t add much salt with the “butter”. I remember seeing a video where people just add salt to fries and made another batch without salt but spices and the salt one was better and the one with salt and spices was even better because salt helps bring out the flavor of stuff.
The thing about the orville stuff, is that it's not the same as what you get at a theater. The thing about the stuff at the theater is that it, by itself, isn't what gives the buttery flavor. It's largely to do with the special salt the popcorn is popped with. I worked at a theater for a couple of years, and spent a LOT of time making popcorn.
Dude you’ve got the craziest videos and I love it
I’m surprised you didn’t dip your lobster in the oil like most would dip lobster in melted butter
Your other favorite food is beggar's chicken
I definitely love the flats best!!! ❤️
Props to the editing and the intro
As someone from Buffalo, I really appreciate your traditional take on wings (disregarding the popcorn butter). No batter, not flour or starch, just raw wings, fried and covered in Buffalo sauce. Thanks for the representation bro

Looks delicious
if you have ever been in the same room as a popcorn machine you dont know just how appetized you can become
"Ghetto Guga" is probably a better name for this channel than "Max the Meat Guy"
In my opinion with chicken wings, drums are easier to eat, but flats are easier to evenly season and sauce, and flats tend to sustain the flavor a little more. With flats, I feel compelled to just experiment with spices and seasonings.
You had me at, "Fat liquid gold." Spectacular. Absolutely spectacular.
Wings are tied for his favorite food. Guess the other favorite? My guess is movie theater popcorn with extra “butter” by how excited you are over that weird fake stuff.
Can we take a moment to appreciate how much time and effort he puts in the videos for us😇
Honestly It’s been pretty depressing having being hated on for liking flats better than drums and well honestly it feels better to know someone else likes it too
I loved how you had the lobster head out there like, "This is my body...".
“A quick and painless death” followed by the loudest crunch there ever was
Max you’re a menace love the videos
Hey Max, what is your favorite part of the chicken to eat, mine are the chicken thighs.
Hey so completely understand if you don't reply to this, I know you're busy but for anyone, I did a top sirloin round recently and trimmed to what I felt what really good, yet this is the first time where I've had this cut come out to where every bite was nearly inedible. It was as if gristle was in every bite and there was that bubblegum residue after each bite. I had to spit a wad out each time and it was highly disappointing. I've tried to research but have not found anything exact. Has anyone else had this problem? I think it may just come down to bad quality but I'm bummed because I enjoyed top sirloin being fairly lean and didn't run into this issue when before I left the fat cap on and trimmed after. It's crazy, a wad a gristle no matter what and it's making me hesitant in the future. Thanks for you time! Wishing success always

Max: I don't know what they put in this stuff but it is amazing 5 seconds earlier: reading off the ingredients
I don't think the lobster for a fair shake because most people dip it instead of actually pumping it dull of butter. The taste of course would be more noticeable but you could compare better imo
So we just found out we can use movie theater butter as a cooking substitute. Nice!
That’s actually really good
Drums always come out on top
You are my favorite KZreadr
why dont you blend popcorn and put it in the beef to have a popcorn crust
Max: “Flats are superior to drums” Also Max: *Turns flat into drum before eating*
Those wing tip is good if you season it with salt and pepper and deep fry it until it becomes crispy :D
Flats are indeed elite - good stuff max.
you look so excited when it was done lol
The first bites taste like heaven.. The last ones send you there.
Flats all the way! It also doubles up as a great vehicle for extra blue cheese!
Drums, easier to eat and more convenient for dipping
There's no right answer, both are amazing.
Ive always preferred the drums compared to the flats. But I will take any wing any day
Can tell that's the Porchester AMC. Solid theater.
He should try to make movie theater butter
IMO, drums are better because you get a grip that you can use for the entire time. The flats have issues with having to pull them apart while eating them, and I have had way too many bones break, which can cause issues with that. I have never had a drum bone break on me.
can you do beef cross cut ribs?
I appreciate you showing how to humanely cook lobster. they used to always tell me you cant cook a lobster that way else it will ruin the meat. it is a total lie :< i am so glad people like you are showing the facts tho!
