I agree with the advice but disagree that someone with type one diabetes and is also genetically predisposed to cancer is just being dramatic for saying she won't have a long life. It's not guaranteed that she won't have a long life but it is somewhat more likely. Family medical history is not 100% predictive but it is an indicator. You just shouldn't plan your life around an early death because if you live a long time against the odds, you've got a serious problem.

@@johnadams3418 honestly don't care if you believe me bud... All the zeros in my bank account really make what other people think not that important. I also know a guy who went from middle class to worth over $20M because he made a good impression on a rich guy that ended up cutting him in on a series of business deals. Just cuz it didn't happen to you doesn't mean it didn't happen to someone.

@@WideAwakeHuman You just proved it to be a fish story by citing an example of a really unlikely scenario for most people where they get cut in on a deal with a millionaire. Glad you did well, but the statistics show that the average person who does the slow and steady will do better than the average person who leverages debt. You can argue that the latter doesn't do well because they are not using "smart" debt and I can argue that it is chance as to who actually makes it out better with leveraging debt. But the overall fact that leveraging debt generally results in a poorer outcome than not remains and thus the average person is better off going with latter.

@@johnadams3418 like I said, I don't care if you think it's a "fish" story or not... I wasn't interested in becoming a millionaire by the time I was ready to retire (as in, barely worth over $1M), I planned to be there much sooner and the largest group of people that acheive that, BY FAR, are people who leverage smart debt. Unlike Ramsey who made a bunch of 90-day hard money loans on real estate, got caught with his pants down and paid dearly. He's against debt because he was stupid with it and it got him. Go find me all the people worth $5M+ before they're 40y and I'll show you a ton of people that used leverage to get there.

Mr. Ramsey is not a medical doctor/Oncologist, he is smart enough to stay off prognosticating a person's chances of illness & death over the phone. Everyone, with or without family history, should get their screenings done when advised.
