Go to Prawirotaman area. You will find westerners. Ask the Hotel Receptionist. There cafes and guest houses, hotels. Visit Sultan Palace or Keraton. You will learn the history of Yogyakarta. I live in West Java and visit Yogyakarta all the time, just to relax and enjoy a different vibe.

Tiket Borobudur termasuk murah untuk warga asing, saya pernah mengunjungi beberapa situs sejarah di luar negeri contoh Galata Tower di Turkiye, itu hanya menara pandang di masa Konstantinopel bentuknya pun hanya menjulang tapi tiket masuknya melebihi kemegahan Borobudur..

Indonesian start working or schools around 7:00 am, so they would alread woken up at 5:00 am and start having breakfast around 6:00 to 6:30..

I once studied at one of the universities there,and yogya is famous as a student city one of the reasons is because it’s cheap

Thank you for the insightful information. I met alot of students in Yogya. All very nice people and friendly. Universities are doing a great job to bring up good and well mannered, happy students 👏🏼

Some people think the cost of going up to Borobudur is very expensive, and yes if you think about it, it is indeed expensive. But these costs can be accounted for, because by paying for the 'expensive' tickets, tourists who go up to the top also directly fund the maintenance/repair of the temple :)

Fun Fact : Indonesia is considered one of the laziest country in the world by some world statistics, yet we are the earliest to wake up in the morning. Some and most Indonesian are already awake at 3-4 AM in the morning.

Very interesting video Sam! Borobudur raises so many questions about its history. There's something exciting about going to a place without too many Western tourists, or tourists in general. Keep going! ✌🏻🌏

Borobudur is Ddfinitely a stand out for me so far. Let’s see what else we can find

just wondering how you allowed to enter in the temple and climbing up ? last year me and family come from Canada we visited yogya only to visit borobudur we paid the same price enter to the temple it was prohibited.but we only allowed to stick around at the front yard :/ is it something new the restriction are changed ?

Hello there. I was also under the impression that there would be climbing restrictions. Others told me that they weren’t allowed to climb to the top. These days it’s open and you need to wear special sandals to prevent any damage to the temple as you climb with the guide. You may need to revisit ☺️
