He has said he has no fear of singing with other people. You can do that when you have the power of Tom's voice. Others shy away from the fear of appearing lacking alongside other singers. Tom also said he loves all genres of music, and that is one of the other reasons he has performed with so many other singers. Elvis considered Tom one of the best singers that he had come across. He would go nearly every night to Tom's shows when he was performing in Las Vegas.

Since you both love Janis so much, you really must get a copy of the film "The Rose", starring Bette Midler. It's a biopic of Janis and it is amazing. (Her family hated parts of it so they had to change the names.) It's a great portrait not only of Janis but also of the music industry in the late 60's when it's set. It was Bette's film debut and she hit the screen like a grenade, capturing Janis's intensity, pain, and problematic nature as well as her ecstasy onstage and her crazy, fun-loving side. It's a must for anyone getting into the rock world! :)

his show was a lot of fun, he sang with so many people, this duet was my favorite. He sang a duet with Ella Fitzgerald one of the greatest blues/jazz singers. The duet is with her when she was older and she had diabetic issues which is probably why they are sitting. I was so fortunate to see her 2 years before she passed. She still could sing.

You hit the nail on the head. I grew up with the music of the 70s, 80s, and 90s. That was real music that nothing currently matches. It was the best time in history for Music and you still have so much to experience. I wish you younger people could truly know what it was like back then. Good job guys.

Janis made a number of appearances on "The Dick Cavett Show", a popular 60's talk show. On one of those appearances she sang an old Bee Gees song, one of my favorites, "To Love Somebody". Take a look at that video on KZread. She put her own spin on that song.

YES! Played that song at my wedding (along with a zillion other people) For anyone who does not know it's a movie loosely based on Janice's life. Plus the song is just beautiful. Although I have seen one reaction to it (kind of looks like a Vegas stage show?) that wasn't the best video or sound of Bette. Not sure if there is an official or not?

Tom Jones had his own television show in the 60’s. I used to watch it with my mother who was crazy about him. I remember one where he had Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, and he did the lead on one of their songs. You have to see the look on David Crosby’s face as Tom was singing his song.
