That's ridiculous! Kambunji is highly experienced and has run against the world's best, in the past, many times. What we are seeing here is new for her. I sincerely hope she is as competitive in the 100m this yr. I wouldn't even be mad if she beats all the favorites. She has a great attitude.

I'm in the U.S., but Kambundji has always been one of my favorite T&F athletes. She is the pure definition of the consummate professional. Win, lose or draw, Mujinga is always the same - she embraces and congrats all her peers, is happy for the winners, and thankful to the audience and officials. No drama, no attitude, no diva... She's been slowly perfecting her technique and I'm confident, after seeing her progression, that we'll likely see her dip under 10.9 this year. If she's careful to choose her races and takes good care of her body (especially after this indoor season), I think she will have a huge PR this year. Whether that's 10.82 or 10.77 we'll have to wait to see, but I love her chances of medalling this year 😁😁

This is honestly just my own, tiny opinion. I've watched her for years and her progression has been steady but she looks a ton stronger than in past seasons. She's a threat to the Jamaican sprinters and Shelly-Ann has looked a half-step slower on average, though she did post a few absolutely outrageous times last year and PR'd (10.6!!!), but she's still 35 this year and likely declining, especially as a sprinter. Elaine is likely still the Gold Medal favorite, but please explain to me who medals after her aside from her countrywoman Sherica? Sure, there're Dina and Marie-Josee, but Dina is coming off injury and MJTL is 33. Shelly-Ann is honestly Kambundji's biggest issue for that 3rd spot, but I see Silver/Bronze as being more up for grabs this year than last year or in years passed. Again, just my tiny opinion

The Swiss 4x100m squad may have to change their line-up with Salome Kora coming back from injury and Sarah Atcho suffering heart complications after getting her Covid booster shot. Geraldine Frey has come on strong and bettered her 60m PB like 3 times this season and is at 7.11 now (3rd all-time Swiss). Curious to see what she can do in the 100m. And young Leonie Pointet ran 11.20 last summer which matches Atcho's PB. She'll only get better. If del Ponte and Kumbundji can both improve and dip into the 10.80s and the other two can run 11.10-ish they have a real shot at a medal at the world's and even gold at the European championships after that. Fingers crossed.

It was certainly a mindblowing race and while I'm just a bit disappointed that team Jamaica wasn't able to medal, I'm super excited for Kambundji and the magnitude of what she has achieved today. She richly deserves it as she's literally been there or there about for a long time now. I like Brisco and happy she was able to run 3 consecutive PBs and dip below 7 secs...she too has been there or there about for a while now. Now the reason I'm not too upset about Jamaica's placings is because Briana literally ran faster than the 7.09 she went there with in each round; on the same day. That for me is superb. Shericka has made significant strides so far this season moving from never running indoors to 7.04 in a couple weeks. Overall great video review and magnificent race.

TRP - you're the best athletics channel by miles ....and the most diplomatic, which is refreshing compared to some of the others who are critically biased and/or cynical. Swoboda's races until this one were noticeably against weaker opposition - mostly European athletes, she came up against a more diverse and tougher group in this race, sadly she lost and is understandably no doubt disappointed.

If you look at Kambundji, her drive lasted the longest out of all the runners. Replay it and look at when she actually comes up. And when she does she starts to walk away. If this was a 100 she was gonna wreck them. My questions is this.. who is training her? Her drive phase is waaaaay better than usual and will she be this way in outdoor?

Watch closely, it came down to her start. She reacted to the gun a split second faster than everyone else. And while this did not immediately put her in front, she progressed through acceleration before everyone else. The 60 is a short enough sprint that there is hardly enough time to decelerate once you've hit top speed. This is how she went past everyone in the last 5 meters.
