Under Sir Alex he was trained like Giggs was trained. To be able to play and switch wings from left wing to right wing at any point of the match. Towards the end of his United career, he was given the left wing permanently. At Real, he started off playing as the left winger for a few seasons. Even at long range and away from goal he would strike those "falling leaf" shots from range and against the side net or the top corner. And as he aged, he continued to train and evolve his skill sets to that of a center forward. Although he isn't in particular the toughest and roughest center forwards, his ability to find the space and position for a one touch or a header is simply down to instincts and experience. Currently, we are looking at Erling Haaland who is a different form of a player, a purist number 9 which cannot be compared to Ronaldo who operates like a number 7 number 9 and number 11 all in one. Number 7 is a number to denote the great Portuguese winger Figo, continental style wing player, number 9 to denote the prolific out and out striker and number 11, to denote the Ferguson styled Giggs winger forward that takes on defenders and mesmerizes with stunning counter attacking displays. You can say he is the epitome of the all in one forward, a rare specimen.

People seem to forget one thing. He may have turned into a poacher in recent years, but man oh man, being a Madrid fan, the goals he scored during his prime are just out of this world. He'd turn absolutely NOTHING into a goal. The speed, the power, the long range shots, the headers, the left foot goals... He just had everything. I don't think we've seen a more complete forward in the history of the game. That Ronaldo in a team like Man City today and the current state of the premier league would score 90 goals a season. Don't even start comparing Haaland to CR7 cause the Norwegian may be a football Viking, but CR7 is a football God.

Here’s the thing about Ronaldo, he’s earned every bit of respect from football fans irrespective of any personal view you may have of him. I’m sure Roy didn’t think much of Ronaldo when he joined United, but with time his view like many other’s have changed and you can see it here in this interview. Ronaldo was the kind of player that let his football do the talking. His record speaks for itself. I personally believe this is a story of two things that everyone should remember when you hold a position of power, never doubt someone’s ability and two give them hardship and never tell them why you’re treating them that way. Then see if they want it and how much to determine their desire. Wisdom ehhh

Mourinho talking about who is better between Ronaldo and Messi back in 2013 " Both are incredible but let me be real. It's much harder to be Ronaldo than to be Messi. This has nothing to do with defending portugal. I've ripped into Ronaldo many times during our time together. So I'm just being honest. One of them plays with the players he grew up with in a team and a structure he grew up in. The other one became one of the best in his home country then became the best in England in a totally different structure. Then became even better in a team that was in decline when he arrived. One plays as a number 9. Or a 9 and a half but basically in the box more or less with no defensive duties whatsoever. The other one has been a winger for most of his life. A real winger. Not a false 9. He scored 42 goals as a winger under mister Ferguson. How can a winger score 42 goals in one season.? A player that isn't protected by anyone or anything. They see the huge animal in barcelona and for him to get one yellow card he would have to maybe kill a player. The other one. One foul. Yellow card and don't touch me again or you're out Let's stop playing. If we want to give awards for amazing players to honor their career. Okay. Let's create another trophy. Let's give one to Drogba who carried Chelsea to champions league glory. Let's give one to Samuel eto'o who won 3 champions leagues and 2 trebles. Let's give one to lampard. Let's give one to Zanetti the greatest capitan ever. Let's give a trophy to Steven gerrard who gave his life for anfield. We have lots of trophies to give. But if we're talking about the ballon d'or. We give it to the most impactfull player of that season. So if we agree that Messi and Ronaldo are equal. Here's my question. Is it normal that one has 1 and the other 4 No it should be 3 vs 3 or 3 vs 2. And don't get me started on the 2010 one. And now he wins again. And another thing. Ballon d'or without any trophies won? We're talking about big trophies. . Chelsea won the champions league. We won the league 9 points ahead of barcelona. How is Messi winning this one? "
