@@reeset Exactly. Take the example of a hair salon. They always store their combs in a jar of strong cleaning solution, right? Which they then rinse off, thoroughly clean the comb, and then use on you. Imagine you saw your stylist use a comb on a customer, and you could see bits of hair and skin and grease on the comb. And then the stylist DIDN'T put the comb in the cleaning solution and wipe it, but instead, put it under a blue light and said "all good to go!" - would you let them use that on you?? I mean, the bacteria is dead, right? Don't worry about the detritus you can still see on it. Same goes for bowling alleys, and any other example you can think of. Whilst it might kill bacteria, it doesn't absorb grease. It doesn't remove dirt or grime. It doesn't wipe off the booger that some icky five year old has smeared on there.

Interesting side note: Back in the 1970's a company had a washing machine which worked on sound waves. No water, no laundry detergent, no dryer needed. The multiple demonstrations were great. The main issue was the public not believing something could get clean without using water or chemicals. So what happened to the invention: It was bought up by a shell company and buried. Rumors have it that some big appliance company bought it because it would have cut their profits by half since you wouldn't need a dryer.

tried to sell silver anti-bacterial for swimming pools to replace chlorine. A few large pool owners, like 100's of pools, wanted test results. So we had them tested against Chlorine. Failed miserably and we never got a single order. A better idea would be Ultra-violet sources and gold. Gold does better than silver but it's many times the cost of chlorine.

Yeah, if this actually worked, it would be in widespread use already. There is no magic bullet in terms of sterilising stuff. Heat works a treat but is costly and not always suitable.
