    I’ve had two Luba mowers on my property now for around 6months. I have one of the 1000 machines that goes out and does my court yard and I also have the 5000 that does the rear garden, paddock and orchard. I’m very impressed with them both, flawless and work very closer to winter when my ride on mower would be a no go! This has saved me a good 6-8 hours per week cutting manually. Not only have I saved the time to do other jobs but also the cut quality is outstanding. I have always been a Husqvarna fan with most of my kit being from them but after getting two Luba machines for all areas totalling 2.3acres. I will not be going back !! Love love love

    I own this model and do NOT have a smooth yard. I have 3 acres but it only mows about an acre of it because of trees. That is the biggest issue with this mower. It's GPS and requires a satellite signal or else it will stop. On average, I have to pick up this mower about 5 times a week and put it back on the charger. Some of this is because of signal and some is just because of how rough my yard is in some areas but if I am being completely honest, it's not that big of a deal. My yard looks great and its always cut. It will put strips on your lawn too if you like that kind of thing. Sorry but I am not a video guy or else I would show you the outcome. If you dont have heavy tree coverage, this mower is more than worth it. When I tell people that this little mower mowed my lawn, no one believes me. It does it that well.

I have had quite a few squirrel cut lines over those years if I were to start again with husqvarna or any wired mower first investment is line break detector (has saved me hours of hunting) I am intrigued by the new mowers that are lineless but do wonder about long term the map coordination and loosing signal issues. Grrrr...ok, that's it. I'm going to buy one today. One of my concerns is the mower getting stuck and you saying you don't have that issue is great. Tell me something, do you have signal issues with it? For example, I was looking at the EcoFlow Blade and I've seen MANY PEOPLE with signal issues. It gets a weak signal and the mower stops cutting. Do you have that issue? And yes, I actually thought he was going to compare the two mowers in this video. If I'm going to spend $3K on a mower, I really want to get confirmation that it's going to do a good job, so I was really looking forward to the comparison of the two. Oh well.

  • @charlessaftner4208

    @charlessaftner4208

    @@dontbanmebrodontbanme5403 Regarding it getting stuck due to GPS, yes, I have some issues. I have a lot of trees surrounding my yard and some thick bushes near one edge. Luba has issues when it passes there pretty often. Normally it just sits and waits for a better signal, maybe 10 minutes or so but sometimes it strays off its intended path. This is ok when it is in the yard but it can mean that it goes outside of the mowing area too. If in the yard, it simply corrects itself. If outside, it is stuck and has to wait for me to help it. For me, I consider this annoying but it is still way better than manually mowing. I check on Luba a few times while it is mowing by looking out a window. If I don't see it, I go outside and find it, normally just mowing where I can't see it but sometimes it is in the forest by a few feet. This takes a few minutes, which is way better than mowing manually for an hour in the hot sun on a loud and stinky mower. I suggest downloading a GPS test app and checking your area. I get 15 sats in the worst spots with Luba, which is borderline. If you have mountains around you or other obstructions then I wouldn't suggest a Luba. Most people will be fine though. My yard is kinda worst case and it still works. I recently posted a full review on Amazon if you want more details.

    Love your videos guys. But surely it's worth mentioning that Husqvarna have had RTK wireless machines for quite some time now also. You have made it sound like Husqvarna haven't been moving with the technology, when in fact they lead with it. With EPOS from Husqvarna, you can do all the Luba can and I assume more. You can select to mow randomly, in stripes, in checkerboard or even diamond pattern. There's a reason they have 80% of the market in robotic mowing! I know you will know this as a dealer yourselves, but perhaps the audience doesn't.

  • @tx3n

    Yes but the Husqvarna dealers are so stuck in the past they are hard to communicate with. And the mowers have seen (in reality) NO real improvements over time. With Husqvarna it is "uhh we have to send a guy out" - Build quality is "iffy" (IMO) - and a small upstart release a mower that is so far "almost" as capable as Husqvarna who have 20 YEARS experience. But it is certainly great to get some competition going - which means prices will drop fast.

    @@dontbanmebrodontbanme5403 Larger areas are no problem, but they shouldn't be possible either. As far as I know there's a software limit and you can map up to 5500 m2 right now, if you want to mow more than that - you need to get a second Luba (which can work with the same antenna as the first one) or remove/readd areas all the time which beats the purpose. The reason for signal loss is tree cover (especially in seasons where there are a lot of leaves or if the tree has thick branches). Other than that - signal shouldn't be a problem unless your RTK antenna and/or base station aren't with clear view to the sky.

    So many questions; How long are these designed to last? 5 years, 10 years? Are the batteries replaceable? Are there repair parts available? Are the tires pneumatic or solid core foam? How long to recharge the battery? Do you think there Will there be parts in 5 years? New companies have a tendency to wring out in the Kickstart er business model. It's taken me a long time to save this much money, so i want it to last a long time. Their website gives a 404 when loooking for their user manual

    To be honest, I don’t know that I would pay full price for it. I got it on the Kickstarter for half price. But, if you can afford it, It is wonderful when it works properly. I have a lot of trees in my yard and it rarely loses signal. You can set it to do multiple zones and it will go back and re-charge at 15% and then start back where I left off after it’s charged.

    Yes, you can even map separate areas that are not connected, and just add a pathway between them - Luba doesn't start the blades when moving through the pathway. Only limitation that I know of is that with the current software/firmware version you cannot map more than 5500m2.

    When are they going to make larger more robust robot mowers is my question. My riding mower has no problems with the sticks and other obstructions. It doesn’t need to be the size of a riding mower but a robot mower 2x-3x larger with more mass and taller cut lengths (my yard does best at 4”). If safety is the reason it just needs a camera with some AI and it’ll stop the blades if a person or animal approaches.

One quick question does Lucy have something similar to Auto Connect or is it Bluetooth controlled. Cheers Tony

    If it strays off it's intended path when losing gps coverage, under trees as Charles states, then it's unsuitable for many gardens. I can't have the risk of it going into a pond, inground trampoline or driveway. Safer and cheaper to go the guide wire route, it's not really that hard to put down...

Luba started the mower from first principles and came up with an amazing product at a reasonable price. That’s why Luba looks nothing like husqvarna. I have a husqvarna 405x but I have to be honest. I have no experience with the Luba, but I have had a Husqvarna 315X for the past several years. The Husky is a great machine--when it works. Unfortunately, it has had a LOT more issues and spent a LOT more time in the shop that I would expect from a quality piece of machinery. Right now my machine is totally useless. When I turn it on, it gives me a "Collision Sensor Active" message and won't go more than a couple inches in any direction. It's in the middle of an open lawn and it thinks it's constantly hitting something. The shop says there's nothing wrong, that it passes all the diagnostic tests. He has no idea what's wrong. So, even though I have no experience with Luba, I figure it has to be more reliable than my Husqvarna has been.

    Yeah, you can map different areas (up to 10 zones with Luba 5000) and add pathways between them - Luba uses pathways just to cross from one area to another, without running the blades when passing. Your only limitation is total area (5500m2) and that the areas are not too far from the base station and RTK antenna - range that it gets signal seems to be 200m or more so it shouldn't be a problem either unless your areas are really far apart.
