I Came to Chau Doc City to Eat This
This is my first time in Chau Doc city.
I came here with a night bus. From the station I was heading to the city center.
First stop was to eat delicious rice and banana grilled cake. It was an amazing snack early in the morning. The lady that sold these cakes was very friendly. I had a little chat with her, left a little tip and was continuing my adventure.
Wondering around this city, I noticed that most of the house are pretty small, but for me they look more cozy than the big ones. Walking not for long a saw another place that was selling some interesting dish. It looked like some sort of cake, I guess, and on the top there was some small shrimps. I decided to try it. The lady that was selling these cakes cut the cake into small pieces, gave me some sauce on the side and also some green leaves with cucumber. This was another perfect snack.
Just walking for couple minutes more I had to make another stop. Another lady was selling sticky rice cake. But these were also different colors. I wanted to try it. asked her to put a little of each kind of sticky rice. The minute I tried this sticky rice I fell in love with it. It was so good, it was just melting in my mouth.
Finally I found local coffee shop were many locals were playing traditional Vietnamese chess game. I ordered a coffee and while was looking were to sit, one guys from the table nearby invited to join their table. I joined them, we talked a little, I enjoyed my coffee and then it was time to end this wonderful adventure in Chau Doc city.

@@MrABroadthe banana snack you ate was banana wrapped with coconut and sugar mixed in sticky rice.. Then wrapped in banana leaves and charred over heat.... the sticky rice called nep in Vietnamese...😂

Người dân miền tây dễ thương. Bán đúng giá. Dù là người nước ngoài. Không chặc chém như ngoài kia.nghe giọng nói là nó chém đẹp.

5:06 is "nep chuoi", sticky rice and banana 14:07 is "banh cong" rice flour + mung beans + shrimp cake 20:20 is sticky rice, there are tons of flavor variants but the ones you got are with peanuts and the dark one is with black beans Nice job communicating with the locals!

This grilled banana cake if is cut in small pieces and topped up with coconut milk…a perfect version for dessert. You should try it.

Nếp mean Sticky rice covering the banana , this snack always have coconut on top of the snack, but how come she doesn’t have the coco for this food

It doesn’t always. You can eat them right off the grill or sometimes they are smothered in coconut cream sauce.
