🙂 he's trying to be goofy like linus, dont take this build seriously, but yes on the intel 1700 side and ur at microcenter u could go like u said: i3, basic matx board, 16 or 32 ram sticks, and for video card power supply it depends on what card u would like to try out. For example if u want to try out one of the new Intel ARC cards those cards are power hungry so ur looking at 650W minimum + Intel Arc. they have refurbished 1660 Supers so if u do that then u can get away with any 500w thats in the store. And the case can be anything in the store I would check the clearance sections and see if theres any steals

@@rainnaxilMost new motherboards have a button on the rear IO that allows for this. Simply plug in a drive to the designayed usb slot (most are marked for this) with the latest BIOS on it and press that button. Most don't even need a cpu installed, just a power supply. There's usually a blinking LED that lets you know what it's doing (look at that motherboards manual for that) and that's it. It's usually very easy to do and just like that your BIOS can now handle the shiny new 8000 series APU.

Two ways this could be changed for better performance. First is faster RAM with the 8600g would have helped as the pack grabbed was only 4800MHz, I bet Austin could have been below $500 with faster ram - a620 still allows RAM overclocking. Second is that a Ryzen 5600x and a RX 6500XT would have cost the same as the 8700g and given better performance on the cheaper AM4 platform. Also no budget gamer is playing higher than 1080p 😁

Value is more important overall than cost. Future upgrade potential is also one of the TOP considerations when build a new PC. I would've sacrificed A LOT for a minimal video card.

Hey Austin, another problem with the AMD 8000 series APUs is that you only get 8 PCI 4.0 lanes for the GPU, so a future upgrade will be quite limited.

Any GPU that will saturate 8x PCIe4 bus will be hopelessly CPU bottlenecked with either 8000 APU anyway. While there are some niche uses where that would be a factor, for most gaming it shouldn't make much difference.

For those comparing this with linus's build: 1: Linus used second hand components(gpu) 2: he could obtain components from various sources(austin only has microcentre which doesn't necessarily have the cheapest possible price for the product) 3: linus's system is quite outdated while Austin's is new and fairly future proof

That extra $100 might be better spent on faster RAM if using an APU. Id hazard a guess you'd see more of an improvement in gaming performance than going from a ryzen 5 8600g to a r7 8700g. RAM bandwidth will be the main bottleneck, not the apu with 4800mt/s RAM. Dont know exact prices off the top of my head, but pretty sure that $100 would comfortably cover the difference between 4800mt/s RAM and 7200mt/s(or thereabouts)

  • @MrSamadolfo

🙂 agree but thats the problem, normally somebody building an integrated graphics PC is broke AF, normally u would buy the cheapest ram board power supply, so they would never ever have bought this thing if u told them 'bruh u gotta buy the fastest ram kit' , it makes the whole endeavor stupid. Its already been talked about on other channels. This is snake oil and very unfair to the broke people out there and the normies that have no idea that they are wasting money on a crippled system.

In Canada there is no way you can build a decent PC for $500usd. But I ordered a decent MOBO 12,13,14th Gen Intel mobo from Ali express and a rx580 new, for a total of $259 cad, plus import fees probably 13% on top. And I ordered a 1tb m.2 nvme PCIe SSD and 16gb 3200mhz quality ram for $151 cad from Amazon Canada. Total cost $410 cad all in. I have an older case and a brand new 750watt PSU with 4x PCIe 8 pin connectors I got from Delta Server Store as an apology for having wrong PSU info on the desktop I bought from them. Awesome place to get workstations and servers on the cheap.
