I Built Dimebag's Entire Guitar Rig With PEDALS

Retrospectively Dimebag didn’t himself get me to start playing metal stuff. It was actually Synyster Gates, but after listening to some interviews he had mentioned pantera and my mind was blown. Dimebag should be remembered as long as guitar is played

What a cool way to honour Dime's legacy. Even though I was literally like 2 when he was taken from us (thus I never grew up with Pantera/Damageplan), thanks to you and other KZreadrs like Ola Englund I've become a massive fan of Dime, his gear and sound. Someday I hope to own an actual Dimebag guitar, asides from my Razorback bass.

Dime was probably the coolest and kindest guitar hero of all time, glad to see the younger generations are continuing to appreciate him. He and Vinny wanted to meet and party with all and every last fan sometimes to their own detriment from Rex’s POV I had a chance to meet them at a local radio station when they were on tour with Damageplan and I thought I would catch them next time maybe.

Great content. I’m old as dirt. Had older brothers that also played Guitar. So exposed to a lot of great music. Rock, Punk, Metal, Jazz, Classical Was obsessed with Darrell Abbott aka Dimebag. I have the Washburn 333 and Randall RH100es, and all the Dime rack gear. I talked to M.E about building a pedal form of the MXR 136 Flanger/Doubler and he said it would be difficult if not imposes because of the parts. This probably was around that COVID drag. So when I zoomed in and saw that pedal I was stoked. I use a Boss PQ-3 pedal and wanted to do exactly what you have done. So I looked up that pedal on Reverb and there was only one and it was a double version like 2 in 1 for around 575.00 usd. Did. You have to pay for yours ? What does that retail at ? Thanks. • @MasterEffectsPedals

@@Riffs_Tricksi've looked at all of those schematics and as far as the preamp is concerned they are basically the same. the two main differences are when you activated the sustain switch on the RG you had a big volume drop. the century added something to keep the volumes at unity when you turn the sustain switch on. the other difference is the mid boost switch which when turned off is the same as the rg and when turned on just adds a cap in the tone stack to shift the treble frequency a bit. otherwise everything else in the preamp sections are exactly the same and you shouldn't hear any difference between the two as far as preamp goes.

First of all respect for doing this. But I don't think the gain is there. I've tried myself to make a Dime patch using only an HX Stomp. It's very hard. I'd put the EQ after the Vulgar pedal. That's what needs shaped the most. I get your logic, treat Vulgar like a preamp. But what's coming out just isn't it. Grab a bunch a of clips and look at Dimes guitar under a spectral analyzer. You'll see some wild humps in the 700's if I remember correctly. These are clues. If you know how harmonic overtones work. You can do the math to reverse engineer what the true EQ should look like. I wouldn't use parametric EQ's for this unless you can adjust the Q curve. Always just 10 or 7 bands.

Have you modified your Boss TU-3 to tune to 425 Hz (or -60 cent) for Dimebag's tunings? Out of the box, the TU-3 only allows for reference pitch change between 436-445 Hz. For people who don't want to mod their tuner to tune to 425Hz, I can recommend Sonic Research Turbo Tuner ST-300 which has support for user-made custom tunings through computer software via USB from the pedal.

I was going to send it back and not make waves, but the last attitude laden email, , and the vibe I get that they're money grabbing crooks, who probably wouldn't refund me even if I sent it back, means it's war! Most arrogant people who won't own up to their mistake even when I have a multimeter on it with photos! So, there's a video coming soon, with screen shots of emails, to show you how bad it could be. Did he quit using DRs at some point, I always used DRs 9-46 because that’s what he used in the 90s before he started really detuning on Trendkill, he used hi beams but DR still sells a Dimebag “custom” set high voltage and it was the only set of 9-46 DRs that I could get shipped in a reasonable amount of time so I paid an extra two dollars or so for Dimes mug on the packaging I’d hate to know his estate isn’t getting paid for that but I’ve tried other strings and they are the only ones that feel right on my old RG , I’ve always sorta thought a guitar especially a Floyd Rose setup to float sorta aged into a specific brand and gauge of strings you can change it and set it up but the guitar “prefers” the strings you’ve used the most consistent . I’m sure it’s just an all in my head thing and couldn’t be scientifically proven, but I definitely recommend picking a brand and gauge you like for your floating trems and stick with them so you don’t have to constantly adjust every time you restring the same gauge wrapped string can have significantly different shapes and sizes of core wires. DR always use to claim their 46 had the same mass as competitors 52 don’t know if it affects tone but they definitely feel a little stiffer to me than other brands 46 .

What are you talking about? Lol. What would be the point of speeding it up?

Sounds like you have a little bit to much 1k or 750 k in it , allmost like a cocked wah , doesnt sound right , and i think you are missing some bass around the 180 hrz mark 😢

You have a hell of an ear, I don’t think it’s throwing the sound off too bad but after reading this, I can definitely see what you mean. Now I can’t unhear it.

As much as i really am inspired by Dimebag. Does it sound really thin and nasally in person? Sounds awful through the surround system 😂. Awful can be good or bad, depending on who you are so no need for a pissing contest.

Dime used 5 amps live and his tone was dialed in for extremely large audiences, and that probably changed when they went to record (also what was captured on the album was also mic'd and running through preamps and compressors, then mastered etc...). I've never heard Dime's tone in person but from everyone I've talked to that has, they've said it's crushing.

Nice content. As a bit of feedback I found the cuts between nearly every sentence a bit jarring and unnecessary, but great video otherwise
