We continue working on the man shed found within the sawmill shed. We add a fireplace, work bench, and some interesting lighting to the fish pond out back!
I build out an amazing ceiling in my man cave using my Norwood portable sawmill! I will mill trees found on my property to produce an amazing sawmill and man cave.
Working on the Sawsmahal office/shop area just off the inside of the Norwood Sawmill. This is going to be an epic off grid sawmill shed when it's all done!
I build a sawmill shed out of lumber from the forest! I try to keep costs for the shed super cheap by re-using as much materials as I can, and sourcing materials from the forest around me. I use both milled woods, and many dead standing trees to make a structure that will keep my portable sawmill free of snow, ice, and rain. That way, I can use my sawmill year round without having to worry about the weather.

"Self-Reliance" is an 1841 essay written by American transcendentalist philosopher and essayist Ralph Waldo Emerson. It contains the most thorough statement of one of Emerson's recurrent themes: the need for each individual to avoid conformity and false consistency, and follow his own instincts and ideas. This channel will approach self reliance from a modern perspective. and will focus on various build projects using modern amenities, and tools to build a completely self reliant lifestyle.
Many people ask me where I am from and where I film my projects. I am from Northern Ontario, Canada, and live in an area where off-grinding is easy because I have lots of land to build on and experiment with different buildings and materials. Everything I do is to try to be more self reliant, and to depend less on others. But that doesn't mean I don't like working together with other people on projects. Knowing people who have skills is part of being self reliant, and trading skills is a great way to get more things done!

If you're going to air seal, just make sure you have enough ventilation to provide sufficient oxygen for the stove to burn properly without building up carbon monoxide in the building, that can be quite dangerous. Unfortunately, carbon monoxide is odorless and colorless, and disperses evenly throughout the room, so sleeping low, sitting down, sleeping higher up or even standing can't prevent carbon monoxide poisoning. Please make sure to install a carbon monoxide detector so you'll be sure to be safe.

We gotta LIKE this one: there is something that will interest everyone. The Sawsmahal continues to amaze. Thanks to your past experience, you are effectively able to 'design as you go.' A good deal of time has passed since you revisited your past constructions at the pond and I was very interested to be reminded that they are used. They also have held up very well. I watched the video where you and Chris put in this year's trout: they were 'submarine' size. You are doing more 'infomercial' moments...but someone has to pay for your time, talent, equipment, and materials. I enjoy seeing the items being demonstrated.

Well, I hammer a lot of them prior, but since it's been fine. Great lumbermill shed man cave thingy you got there. Quite nice indeed.

Thanks for the tour, nice to see the Forest Cube and A-Frame again. A fun summer project would be to build your ducks an island. Growing up, my neighbor had a pond with ducks. He kept losing them to coyotes, so he built an island for them. I think all he used was an old tire and some wood for float, he built a small coop on top of that, they slept in that all summer and had their little ducklings there too. Those loud frogs take me back to summers on the farm. Frogs are great to have around, they indicate that you have a good ecosystem.
