I Built an Engine With Double Pistons for Maximum SPEED!

Ойындар

Today we're back in Scrap Mechanic with the fastest piston engine we've ever built! I decided it was time to try something ridiculous and in an attempt to break the 300 rpm barrier we've doubled up the pistons and are using both on each cylinder to generate more speed!

Kan, I built a piston engine with a timer so you can essentially "shift" it, I think the car would run better with that. You can dind it in the workshop (toilet pump piston engine with gearbox)

Just so you know kAN, the average in the dyno is a moving average. It only uses the values from the previous 5 seconds of it recording, so by pressing the reset button, you are completely wiping the table of values. If you let the engine run at the new rpm, it will update to be accurate in 5 seconds, but by pressing the white button, it takes 5 seconds plus the time it took to press the button.

brother I'm a 34 year old construction Forman, I came across your channel cause I watch some gaming from time to time. I'm glad I did. its extremely interesting watching you build these engines. you are extremely smart. you build this stuff with ease. I realize you have been doing this for years but its pretty amazing to me. I am glad I found your videos, I'm learning a lot. I'd really like to see piston engine with any kind of trans and diff. I know how hard that probably is, but I will watch even if you fail. I cant tell you how happy I am to have come across your channel these physics fascinate me. p.s. sorry if this is difficult to read. I am terrible at typing, I have carpel tunnel.. the more I type the more it hurts the more I don't care about correct grammar and punctuation.

Instead of stall point to stop the engine, what I usually do is to rotate the sensor themselves so none of them see a the "encoding wheel". This way I make sure its "off" without AND gates that add delays.

I thought about making an engine like this before, but I didn't get around to testing it yet. Its a cool concept which I think can be pushed further to 600RPM no problem due to the conrods and overuse of pipes. Overall this is a great lead-in for building a Kein-engine, so I better see one in the next video. Actually, I much prefer to see best builds next video, then a Kein-engine afterwards.

So, you built that little piston stack and showed how it jitters a lot. Does that happen when attached on both sides? Like, could you utilize that silly interaction as the movement? Because that seemed to move a lot faster than normal piston movement ....

@quakxy_dukx I mean, in whatever sort of engine would work? More just to use the twitchy nature of the piston stack to produce the movement as opposed to sensors and a timing wheel. If a boxer works best for that type of in-line linear motion, then sure?

  • @rubeanie

@@rubeanie the problem is that with the con-rod configuration, having multiple pistons on the same plane is impossible as they’ll interfere with each other. So you’d either have to have an offset between the two (or more) lines of pistons or use the more standard piston engine configuration without con-rods (but idk if that’s possible with this double piston setup)
