I have used Xpadder back in the day. You can simulate a controller. Bind keyboard inputs to that controller. Works really great for stuff like this. Well done built mate

Thanks! I didn't try Xpadder however I have tried some other programs to try to make it work in forza, however none of the programs worked because a controller has different bindings from a steering wheel, so it didn't detect those inputs in forza. So I just kind of gave up on forza and just used it in BeamNG drive.

I dont know why ur videos dont have a lot of views, they're as good or better than videos from 200k+ suscribers channels

Thank you! yeah you're right that it could be a bit fragile when too much force is applied, and I could definitely make it more stable, however I kind of ran out of parts, because I don't have that many technic pieces and I am also working on some other projects using technic bricks.

really sick, I also made something like this but mine has a mechanical link for back and forth movements, and a PF servo for left and right. Then I use a program on my pc to convert the combination of keys into each gear number. it works well but the 2 main problems are that you need to go a bit slower when shifting from 4th to 5th, otherwise the servo can't keep up and you'll shift into 3rd for an instant. and also it only has 6 positions so I cannot have both 6th gear and reverse

I tried some of those apps, but for me they unfortunately all didn't work.

I may try to apply this in my keyboard or make an more effective way of pressing the keys, since it looks a bit fragile. Amyways, great design, keep it up! Edit: found some design browsing the internet and it looks more solid, i will see if i can replicate it in lego.

Great to hear that, I did try several options for pressing the keys but this one ended up working the best for me, and the type of keyboard that I used.

Id instantly break it when sweating in Assetto lol but great, also im really late

Is it possible to use your shifter design tofether with your handbrake on the same keyboard if i redesign the shifter to be in diffrent angle?

Yeah that would probably be possible, though I do think that it would be easier to place the handbrake in a different angle

I am probably not going to make an entire video dedicated to that because while building the shifter I already tried out several different mechanisms to press the keys and this one was the only one that ended up working. And it would also be difficult because each keyboard is different, but I would suggest to try some combinations of different lengths of axles and different types of slopes because this mechanism should work for every keyboard, but the slopes and axles might have to be changed.

this is actually pretty good and I built it for playing carx drift racing it works so good but only problem I have is I cant seem to fix the reverse gear becuz it was not getting pushed down i tried many things but cant really seem to figure it out. If there is way to fix could you please tell me, help is really appreciated

Awesome to hear that you were able to recreate it! The reverse gear works just fine for me, but it definitely is possible that it varies per keyboard, so I would suggest trying different slopes in combination with different snot bricks and different technic axles to try and make it work (though you may have already tried that) but I can't really think of something else that would fix it.

i tried to replicate, but not working. I am really good with lego, so when i find a solution i will tell you guys. my keyboard is really stiff, so yeah. also it looks way better with a cool looking shifter knob

I'm sorry to hear that, but it probably is because all keyboards are just a bit different so some will detect a press quicker than others.

I think the shifter needs to be fully redesigned for that scenario, as I designed it for games where it automatically goes back to neutral, and it will be quite difficult to add an extra button in the middle for neutral.

You could make a wide button in the middle for neutral, make the axle longer so it reaches the other buttons or make the gear buttons taller The design would be 1 keyboard key wider, im gonna try to do it today and if you want to contact me, i will send you pictures when in done @v:ane:a
