The grip allows you to get moving when the race starts without spinning your wheels and melting them. Have you ever seen a race movie? When they start the wheels start screeching and spinning on spot. Drag wheels prevent that.

Drag wheels are made for friction so you can have a great start, but at really huge speeds, their friction slows the car a lot. The fastest cars (not production cars lol) have small metal wheels

Make a plane with no thrusters, but can gain enough speed to generate lift and fly. EDIT: The thing can only gain speed by using engines.

try rotating the nose wedges infront of cockpit 90" that should make it split air sideways too . dunno if it mess up the air resistance calculations ingame. worth a try. this way it cut like a X shaped arrow.

The road in that map isn’t sticky , yes drag wheel go faster but they need friction so that when irl drag racing the road is sticky so It stays on the floor

It was pain to watch. "I've put more engines It started to wobble. So the only reasonable solution is to put more engines" I genuinely thought it was a joke. Also basic knowledge of aerodynamics would be nice. I dunno how much realistic devs made it, but making it sleek as much as possible should be at least a main task. Great doing on structural stability tho.

I dont believe the game calculates aerodynamics except for head on drag. Things like tail vortex clearly weren't happening or he'd need slopes on the back sides as well.

I accidentally broke the sound barrier in story mode by having a wheel rub on a ship part chunk and I tried to drive and it broke the sound barrier and threw me across the map

I've enhanced your design. I had some stability issues too and I found an incorrectly oriented wheel was the culprit. I greatly increased the number of engines, 8 wheels appropriately placed as opposed to 4 which makes it slightly wider which could also aid with the stability. I was able to hit 2189 kph ridiculously quickly and smoothly with no wobble whatsoever.

why is it so funny when the car starts bouncing and scrapman is thrilled and just sittin there watching it for a min or so?

Early in the video when it started wobbling I'd have added some separate reinforcers, when you staggered the engine alignment I was like "OH SNAP." Well played! It would be interesting to see whether adding weight towards the nose (maybe a heavier nose cone) would stop the speed wobble.

Actually there is a real life jet-car that can go 1,237 kph, which is faster than the speed of sound but there is a car *even faster* that can go 1,609 kph

With as much as you build things, and depending on how much complexity you like, theres a game you may be interested in. Homebrew Patient Unknown -Found on Steam, It can be very complicated, but in a sense you can make anything that comes to mind. -Also supports multiplayer. Small but good community around it. -Has a workshop, uploads are pretty often. Theres alot to list so ill just let you decide for yourself

I’ve played this game enough to know that the reason your vehicle is bouncing up and down like that is because 1. you either have too much weight on the wheels 2. you have too much downforce on the rear tire and that’s causing it to rub the ground or 3. you don’t have enough support and it’s bending the chassis as you drive.

when i played in the centrifuge the best wheel option for speed turned out to be the slim wheels. they are actually much faster for some reason. they dont rly help with traction tho, if you put em on an engine based vehicle you cant steer without slipping (if you have a lot of engines of course).

9:10 thats what a diffuser is. If you put it under the creation or on the back it will still guide the rear of the craft. Jets use this and so do race cars.

I've never played this game before, but it seems like the wobbling at high speeds has to do with travelling laterally through chunks, or something of the sort. Based on the footage, it looks like when you first spawned the vehicle and it was perfectly aligned with the map, it encountered no issues. But once you edited it and remade it and put it back slightly misaligned, it started wobbling. And the more off-center it was, the more it wobbled.

My mind when the speed was doubled: 🤯

I tried it and there is an actual end to this map 🗺

One factor you might miss are engine make vibration in ilde and running. Long craft make it vibrate stronger. But i love the vibration its like its a live :-)

I did not think the engines would work but I'm baffled!!!

I had an idea for a multiplayer series for you KAn Moonbo and Durf! Create challenge where each of you choose a part you have to build with (eg: You choose 2 dragon engines, KAN chooses Armored seat, Durf chooses spiked wheels, and moonbo chooses Simple tailfin) you then do a series of races and/or challenges to see who used all these parts the best!

Well to answer your question about drag racing, drag racing is all about traction on launch. Teams will literally reduce the horsepower of the car if it means that the wheels won;t spin.

I think the bouncyness is caused by the flex up and down so maybe put wheels in the middle, either that or maybe when it's too long conpared to it, it's width and height

25 engines. With all your videos as inspiration, using skis at the front, bicycle wheels behind (not at the side) and a gyro stabiliser I achieved it with 25 engines.

The bouncy ness of the is when the weight try’s to make the car sink into the floor but it gets pushed back up causing a bounce

I think trailmakers measures speed via wheel rotations per s? And the large wheels had more ground to cover to make a full rotation than the small wheels did- which is why it went faster

To help with your racing wheel question, I think that the drag racing wheel are for quick acceleration and not top speed. Drag races are normal really quick and short, so instead top speed you want start off speed, or acceleration

so a tip if the surface area is flat is the smaller or thinner the wheels the faster it get like how bicycle wheels work^^
