I find it interesting the approach Banta took with the model by lasering the inside frame, and you go literally "board by board" with the outside. I love how it turned out, especially with your minor modification putting all the doors on one side, due to the space you had available. The layout is really coming together with the mine building now.

Really coming to together! I love the scale too! The building with the black roofing,I do construction and roofing. You could add a black square of the roofing, with the pipe/chimneys in the center. Its like an additional layer of protection around pipes or the like! I really like the detail on the mine kit! You could do some many things like you said, getting the doors to lift or the wheel to turn! One of my first kit builds back in the 80's, was a box with just stick wood and other pieces! The older guys at the model railroad club showed me how to put it together! I had experience building plane and boat models! The building turned out amazing! It was a simple slope roofed garage, with 2 doors and 4 windows!

Steve… really nice work. I have a small layout and chose to scratch build all my structures. I do have three wooden kits, but small footprint structures to “fill a hole”. There is so much out there in commercial structures kits and RTR plastic. My goal was to build buildings that are still in the small towns that have not been torn down yet to “progress”. I use whatever materials in my shop and wife’s art supplies. In three years I have built 40 structures, enough to complete my layout and the rest for a cousin’s layout, a KZreadr in Canada and even a young boy who lives in Moscow, Russia.

Nice build looks good. You can put clear packing tape for the jigs so the glue won't stick. Have seen Dave from Thunder Mesa use it. Was good tip. GOD BLESS 🚂 💕 🚂 💕 🚂 💕

Really coming aling nicely. Did you add the chimney and roof vent before the tar paper roofing material or after?

I added them after. The laser cut roofs had holes for them so after applying the roofing paper I cut through the material from the back so I could push the pipes through.

I runs fine except it has the short wheel base so can stall easily on any dirty track or insulated frogs. With some of the new small DCC decoders and tiny keep alive capacitors, it could probably be made more reliable in DCC. I just need to keep it going a reasonable speed to prevent it from stalling on turnouts and such.
