I Built a LEGO Propeller Powered Drift Car!

Ғылым және технология

Using LEGO and LEGO Technic I built a working LEGO drift car that uses a propeller and wind power for propulsion!
Different LEGO propellers were tested to find the maximum power output that would allow the LEGO car to drift!
The LEGO drift car uses 2 powerful buwizz motors and a buwizz 3.0 pro battery to power the propeller and 1 large LEGO Technic Powered UP motor for the steering controls.

Steering would be faster/more responsive if that upper tower was reduced in mass. You could do that by moving the battery, motor, and gearing down to the chassis and leaving only a ring/pinion at the top of a tower with just enough structure to not collapse under the thrust.

I remember Brick Technology doing something somewhat familiar. Creating a propeller powered LEGO car. It's interesting to see how two people might tackle something similar and see how they might do it differently.

Nice work! I keep trying to tell people that if fast propeller cars are possible (which they are), then that can be used as a stepping stone for building working LEGO aircraft that can smoothly accelerate on a runway and take off. I know we’ve been told dozens of times that LEGO aircraft cannot fly, but that point has been proven primarily by helicopters and other rotary-wing aircraft that depend on vertical lift, which requires far more power to achieve than horizontal thrust as has been done with cars like this.

Not a drift car. Just a propeller car. If the wheels themselves were powered THAT would make it a drift car. Fan Boats dont "drift" either. Sliding around ≠ drifting.
